PATIENT, HEAL YOURSELF!

Sign-up for the weekly newsletter digest that is packed with the latest news in healthy living, you need this resource interactive
write to me at webriter@verizon.net or mark_my_bailey@yahoo.com.
**************HEALING*******************************
The story of Lorenzo's oil was told in a movie, of the same name. essentially a family watched their first son die of Adrenoleucodystrophy (ALD), when they realized their second son was at risk the parents went to work to find out about the disease and got a group of scientists involved, they found a 'cure' and Lorenzo not only survived but is now 25 years old and lives in Washington. Eighteen years ago he was diagnosed with an incurable disease and given less than two years to live.

The point is, if you don't want to accept a Death sentence from your doctor, find out how to heal yourself. Find out first why you have whatever disease they say you have, Then find out how to get healthy.

This is what I've been doing while I'm working to reverse Diabetes. I can't say I've actually found the exact cause but while I look I'm using a shotgun approach to be as healthy as I can get.

I am eating a healthy diet, in which I've kept out as many pollutants, preservatives, additives, pesticides, and herbicides as I can. I do everything I can to avoid genetically modified, processed or transported foods as possible. I believe if I eat locally grown, whole fresh foods cooked as little as possible I'm way ahead of the game.

Since our soils are depleted I also take certain supplements like minerals and enzymes to augment my food nutritionally, this way I can get all the building blocks of good health from what I ingest.

Still I'm on the prowl for the exact cause of Diabetes so I can just say good by to it.

My quest is taking me to what seems far afield areas of research, but who knows when I'll find the key? I found once that Diabetics tend to have highly acidic bodies so I de-acidified mine with Alkalizing foods and CellPower™, which I still take for it's many healthy benefits, in addition o it keeping me in a alkaline condition.

I found that many Diabetics have springboarded from a diet high in High Fructose Corn Syrup to Diabetes so I have eliminated that from my life. I read that MSG caused people to gain weight, so I dropped that. I also discovered that the bleaching agent[Alloxan] in White flour is another cause of Diabetes, so I never eat any white flour. Gluten [see any grain] has been implicated in allergies and other problems, so I avoid all breads and flour products.

I get a multitude of newsletters so I can keep abreast of all news of research breakthroughs. I may not discover the Diabetes oil but it won't be from lack of trying.

I continue to take the following which are really helping me to heal:
CellPower™ to cover the basics, also
FLAX SEED OIL for my colon, but of course
~Glutathione-the master antioxidant is a great helper to counteract many diabetic complications.
~4 essential minerals for diabetics
~SELENIUMhelps immune system,fights infection and aids circulation
~MAGNESIUMhelps to relax you, aids stress and muscle relaxing
~CHROMIUMimproves insulin sensitivity, and helps lower blood sugar.
~ZINC especially to help you heal.
~coconut oil

for the Omega-3~6 balance and losing weight.

Also I really have to give you one little miracle I know to be true: Cinnamon, but it needs to be pure and at least a teaspoon per meal to do any good. It really lowers my blood glucose levels. OH AND SO DOES CELERY, EAT LOTS OF CELERY!

I wish all of you the robust, vigorous health I'm getting closer to each day.

Inspiration-Cleaning Lady.
During my second month of college, our professor
gave us a pop quiz. I was a conscientious student
and had breezed through the questions until I read
the last one:
"What is the first name of the woman who cleans the school?"
Surely this was some kind of joke. I had seen the
cleaning woman several times. She was tall,
dark-haired and in her 50's, but how would I know her name?
I handed in my paper, leaving the last question
blank. Just before class ended, one student asked if
the last question would count toward our quiz grade.
"Absolutely, " said the professor. "In your careers,
you will meet many people. All are significant. They

is smile and say "hello."
I've never forgotten that lesson. I also learned her
name was Dorothy.

A WOMAN'S WEEK AT THE GYM

Dear Diary,
For my birthday this year, my daughter (the dear) purchased a week of personal training at the local health club for me. Although I am still in great shape since being a high school football cheerleader 43 years ago, I decided it would be a good idea to go ahead and give it a try. I called the club and made my reservations with a personal trainer named Belinda, who identified herself as a 26-year-old aerobics instructor and model for athletic clothing and swim wear.
My daughter seemed pleased with my enthusiasm to get started! The club encouraged me to keep a diary to chart my progress.

MONDAY:
Started my day at 6:00 a.m. Tough to get out of bed, but found it was well worth it when I arrived at the health club to find Belinda waiting for me. She is something of a Greek goddess - with blonde hair, dancing eyes and a dazzling white smile. Woo Hoo!! Belinda gave me a tour and showed me the machines. I enjoyed watching the skillful way in which she conducted her aerobics class after my workout today. Very inspiring! Belinda was encouraging as I did my sit-ups, although my gut was already aching from holding it in the whole time she was around. This is going to be a FANTASTIC week!

TUESDAY:
I drank a whole pot of coffee, but I finally made it out the door. Belinda made me lie on my back and push a heavy iron bar into the air then she put weights on it! My legs were a little wobbly on the treadmill, but I made the full mile. Belinda's rewarding smile made it all worthwhile. I feel GREAT! It's a whole new life for me.

WEDNESDAY:
The only way I can brush my teeth is by laying the toothbrush on the counter and moving my mouth back and forth over it. I believe I have a hernia in both pectorals. Driving was OK as long as I didn't try to steer or stop. I parked on top of a GEO in the club parking lot. Belinda was impatient with me, insisting that my screams bothered other club members. Her voice is a little too perky for early in the morning and when she scolds, she gets this nasally whine that is VERY annoying. My chest hurt when I got on the treadmill, so Belinda put me on the stair monster. Why would anyone invent a machine to simulate an activity rendered obsolete by elevators? Belinda told me it would help me get in shape and enjoy life. She said some other s*** too.

THURSDAY:
Belinda was waiting for me with her vampire-like teeth exposed as her thin, cruel lips were pulled back in a full snarl. I couldn't help being a half an hour late, it took me that long to tie my shoes. Belinda took me to work out with dumbbells. When she was not looking, I ran and hid in the restroom. She sent another skinny b**** to find me Then, as punishment, she put me on the rowing machine -- which I sank.

FRIDAY:
I hate Belinda more than any human being has ever hated any other human being in the history of the world. Stupid,skinny,anemic,anorexic little cheerleader. If there was a part of my body I could move without unbearable pain, I would beat her with it. Belinda wanted me to work on my triceps. I don't have any triceps! And if you don't want dents in the floor, don't hand me the damned barbells or anything that weighs more than a sandwich. The treadmill flung me off and I landed on a health and nutrition teacher. Why couldn't it have been someone softer,like the drama coach or the choir director?

SATURDAY:
Belinda left a message on my answering machine in her grating, shrilly voice wondering why I did not show up today. Just hearing her made me want to smash the machine with my planner. However, I lacked the strength to even use the TV remote and ended up catching eleven straight hours of the Weather Channel.
SUNDAY:
I'm having the Church van pick me up for services today so I can go and thank GOD that this week is over. I will also pray that next year my daughter will choose a gift for me that is fun – like a root canal or a hysterectomy.

I still say if God had wanted me to bend over, he would have sprinkled the floor with diamonds!!!

The guy says, "75 cents."

MORE ON VITAMIN D

As much as I reported on Vitamin D the other day, there is more:
(1)
The 'D'-fensive Vitamin: Study Finds Vitamin D Sustains Life
By: Frank ManganoSource: http://www.newstarget.com December 8, 2007
We live in a culture that’s obsessed with who or what’s “the best.” What’s the best exercise? The best food? The best athlete, the best actor, the best deal, the best song, best album, best actress, best candidate, best television, best laptop, gaming system, comedian and on and on and on. So it comes as no surprise to find that researchers have endeavored to discover the best vitamin for the body. Vitamin C? Think again.
According to researchers, it’s the vitamin you get simply by walking outside on a sunny day: vitamin D. Now I know what you’re thinking: How does one define “best”? My interpretation of the best vitamin— like the best song, or TV drama—is different from someone else’s interpretation. So the researchers defined what’s “best” as the vitamin that will prolong your life the most.
After reviewing data from 18 trials of tests that involved 57,000 people, researchers from the International Agency for Research on Cancer in Lyon, France, concluded that taking vitamin D supplements will prolong life by warding off diseases. The study is published in the September issues of Archives of Internal Medicine and Forbes.com .
Six years after the initial studies were done on the 57,000 people, the researchers followed up on the subjects to see what, if any, effect vitamin D had on their bodies. What they found was those who took vitamin D supplements had a 7 percent chance of living longer than the people who did not take vitamin D supplements (approximately 4,800 of the 57,000 people died in between those six years)! Now, granted, 7 percent isn’t a huge number, but it’s large enough to encourage researchers that their findings could be a breakthrough in how medicines are made to treat diseases like cancer.
While the subjects in the studies took varying doses of vitamin D (from as much as 2,000 IUs to as little as 300 IUs), lead researcher Dr. Phillipe Autier recommends no more than 600 IUs as a daily supplement. As you may know, vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin and can be hazardous to your health if taken in too high of dosages. In fact, too much vitamin D may cause cancer, according to a study published in a 2004 issue of the International Journal of Cancer.
So, to paraphrase infomercial magnate Ron Popeil, how much vitamin D do you need and where can you find it? As aforementioned, moderate amounts of sunlight each day causes the body to makes its own vitamin D, but actual healthy food sources include milk, dandelion greens, oatmeal, sweet potatoes and oily fish like salmon, swordfish, mackerel and sardines (3 ½ oz salmon=350 IUs). The herbs alfalfa, horsetail, nettle and parsley also contain Vitamin D.
However you get it, as always, make sure it’s from an organic source as there are more vitamins in them than non-organic food sources. Just as in sports, in life, the best offense is a good 'D'-fense.

If you are going to supplement the vdery best one to take is D-3.

I was due for an appointment with the gynecologist later in the week. Early one morning, I received a call from the doctor's office saying
I had been rescheduled for that morning at 9:30a, and it was already 8:45a.

The trip to his office took about 35 minutes, so I didn't have any time to spare. I rushed upstairs, threw off my pajamas, wet the washcloth sitting next to the sink, and gave myself a quick wash to make sure I was presentable. I threw the washcloth in the clothes basket, donned some clothes, hopped in the car and raced to my appointment.

I was in the waiting room for only a few minutes when I was called in. Knowing the procedure, I hopped up on the table, looked over at the other side of the room and pretended that I was in Paris or some other place a million miles away. I was a little surprised when the doctor said, "My, we have made an extra effort this morning, haven't we?" I didn't respond and thought he was being weird.

After the appointment, I heaved a sigh of relief and went home. The rest of the day was normal ... some shopping, cleaning, cooking, etc. After school when my 6 year old daughter was playing, she called out from the bathroom, "Mommy, where's my washcloth?" I told her to get another one from the cupboard.

She replied, "No, I need the one that was here by the sink, it had all my glitter and sparkles saved inside it."

The Man and the Birds
by Paul Harvey

The man to whom I'm going to introduce you was not a scrooge, he was a kind decent, mostly good man. Generous to his family, upright in his dealings with other men. But he just didn't believe all that incarnation stuff which the churches proclaim at Christmas Time. It just didn't make sense and he was too honest to pretend otherwise. He just couldn't swallow the Jesus Story, about God coming to Earth as a man.

"I'm truly sorry to distress you," he told his wife, "but I'm not going with you to church this Christmas Eve." He said he'd feel like a hypocrite. That he'd much rather just stay at home, but that he would wait up for them. And so he stayed and they went to the midnight service.

Shortly after the family drove away in the car, snow began to fall. He went to the window to watch the flurries getting heavier and heavier and then went back to his fireside chair and began to read his newspaper. Minutes later he was startled by a thudding sound...Then another, and then another. Sort of a thump or a thud...At first he thought someone must be throwing snowballs against his living room window. But when he went to the front door to investigate he found a flock of birds huddled miserably in the snow. They'd been caught in the storm and, in a desperate search for shelter, had tried to fly through his large landscape window.

Well, he couldn't let the poor creatures lie there and freeze, so he remembered the barn where his children stabled their pony. That would provide a warm shelter, if he could direct the birds to it. Quickly he put on a coat, galoshes, tramped through the deepening snow to the barn. He opened the doors wide and turned on a light, but the birds did not come in. He figured food would entice them in. So he hurried back to the house, fetched bread crumbs, sprinkled them on the snow, making a trail to the yellow-lighted wide open doorway of the stable. But to his dismay, the birds ignored the bread crumbs, and continued to flap around helplessly in the snow. He tried catching them...He tried shooing them into the barn by walking around them waving his arms...Instead, they scattered in every direction, except into the warm, lighted barn.

And then, he realized that they were afraid of him. To them, he reasoned, I am a strange and terrifying creature. If only I could think of some way to let them know that they can trust me...That I am not trying to hurt them, but to help them. But how? Because any move he made tended to frighten them, confuse them. They just would not follow. They would not be led or shooed because they feared him.

"If only I could be a bird," he thought to himself, "and mingle with them and speak their language. Then I could tell them not to be afraid. Then I could show them the way to safe, warm...to the safe warm barn. But I would have to be one of them so they could see, and hear and understand." At that moment the church bells began to ring. The sound reached his ears above the sounds of the wind. And he stood there listening to the bells - Adeste Fidelis - listening to the bells pealing the glad tidings of Christmas. And he sank to his knees in the snow.

Merry Christmas

An atheist was walking through the woods. "What majestic trees, what powerful rivers, what beautiful animals!", he said to himself.
As he was walking alongside the river, he heard a rustling in the bushes behind him. He turned to look, and saw a 7-foot grizzly bear charging towards him.
He ran as fast as he could up the path. He looked over his shoulder, and saw that the bear was closing in on him.He looked over his shoulder again, and the bear was even closer. The atheist tripped and fell on the ground. He rolled over to pick himself up, but saw that the bear was right on top of him, reaching for him with his left paw, and raising his right paw to strike him.
At that instant, the atheist cried out, " Oh, my God!"
Time stopped. The bear froze. The forest was silent.
As a bright light shone upon the man, a voice came out of the sky. "You deny my existence for all these years, teach others I don't exist, and even credit creation to cosmic accident. Do you expect me to help you out of this predicament? Am I now to count you as a believer?"
The atheist looked directly into the light and said, "It would be hypocritical of me to suddenly ask you to treat me as a Christian now, but perhaps you could make the BEAR a Christian?"
"Very well", said the voice.
The light went out. The sounds of the forest resumed. The bear dropped his right paw, brought both paws together, bowed his head, and spoke:

"Lord, bless this food which I am about to receive from Thy bounty through Christ our Lord, Amen."

Why do we get colds and flu in winter?

Just 5,000 I.U. of vitamin D per day will keep you from catching the myriad of colds and flu's running around creating havoc. My mother insisted I wear layers of clothing to keep from catching a cold, and she was actually causing colds. Exposure to the sun when the weather gets colder is lessened and that's why we catch colds and flu when the weather is colder. Let's get real here Folks, colds are caused by germs, germs that are around all the time, we "catch them" when we are no longer getting the natural source of preventative medicine. Want proof? Ok read on my friend:

(1)
The Real Reason Flu Hits in Winter — and how to stop it naturally
For centuries, people believed that people catch cold and flu in the winter because of the colder weather. But countless studies have debunked that myth. In fact, studies show that even in places where it’s warm year-round, people still get the flu during winter!
Why do people catch the flu in the winter? The answer to the riddle comes to us from the unlikeliest of places: a maximum security prison!
Back in 2005, the Atascadero prison in California was hit with a severe flu outbreak. Inmates from all over the prison got sick. Yet one ward was unaffected. None of the prisoners in that ward got the flu – even after they mingled with infected inmates from other wards!
Why didn’t the prisoners in that ward get sick? It turns out that the doctor in that ward was doing something the other doctors weren’t: He was giving the prisoners daily doses of vitamin D.
Yes, vitamin D. We’ve known for years that vitamin D protects you against a whole host of illnesses, including osteoporosis and cancer. But recent research shows that vitamin D protects you against infections, too. That’s because vitamin D stimulates your body to make a powerful germ-fighting substance called cathelicidin. And some scientists believe that cathelicidin just might be the most powerful natural antibiotic ever discovered!
It all makes sense. We know that our bodies make less vitamin D in the winter because there’s less sunlight. So the reason we get sick in the winter has nothing to do with the cold; it has to do with the fact that our vitamin D levels are lower!
Action to take: Arm yourself with the amazing protective power of vitamin D. During the summer, make sure you spend at least 15 minutes per day outside. And during the winter, spring, and fall, take vitamin D in supplement form. I recommend 5,000 I.U. ...

(2)
Then I thought of three mysteries that I first learned in medical school at the University of North Carolina: (1) although the influenza virus exists in the population year-round, influenza is a wintertime illnesses; (2) children with vitamin D deficient rickets are much more likely to suffer from respiratory infections; (3) the elderly in most countries are much more likely to die in the winter than the summer (excess wintertime mortality), and most of that excess mortality, although listed as cardiac, is, in fact, due to influenza.
Could vitamin D explain these three mysteries, mysteries that account for hundreds of thousands of deaths every year? Studies have found the influenza virus is present in the population year-around; why is it a wintertime illness? Even the common cold got its name because it is common in cold weather and rare in the summer. Vitamin D blood levels are at their highest in the summer but reach their lowest levels during the flu and cold season. Could such a simple explanation explain these mysteries?
The British researcher, Dr. R. Edgar Hope-Simpson, was the first to document the most mysterious feature of epidemic influenza, its wintertime surfeit and summertime scarcity. He theorized that an unknown "seasonal factor" was at work, a factor that might be affecting innate human immunity. Hope-Simpson was a general practitioner who became famous in the late 1960's after he discovered the cause of shingles. British authorities bestowed every prize they had on him, not only because of the importance of his discovery, but because he made the discovery own his own, without the benefit of a university appointment, and without any formal training in epidemiology (the detective branch of medicine that methodically searches for clues about the cause of disease). ...
1. Why the flu predictably occurs in the months following the winter solstice, when vitamin D levels are at their lowest,
2. Why it disappears in the months following the summer solstice,
3. Why influenza is more common in the tropics during the rainy season,
4. Why the cold and rainy weather associated with El Nino Southern Oscillation (ENSO), which drives people indoors and lowers vitamin D blood levels, is associated with influenza,
5. Why the incidence of influenza is inversely correlated with outdoor temperatures,
6. Why children exposed to sunlight are less likely to get colds,
7. Why cod liver oil (which contains vitamin D) reduces the incidence of viral respiratory infections,
8. Why Russian scientists found that vitamin D-producing UVB lamps reduced colds and flu in schoolchildren and factory workers,
9. Why Russian scientists found that volunteers, deliberately infected with a weakened flu virus - first in the summer and then again in the winter - show significantly different clinical courses in the different seasons,
10. Why the elderly who live in countries with high vitamin D consumption, like Norway, are less likely to die in the winter,
11. Why children with vitamin D deficiency and rickets suffer from frequent respiratory infections,
12. Why an observant physician (Rehman), who gave high doses of vitamin D to children who were constantly sick from colds and the flu, found the treated children were suddenly free from infection,
13. Why the elderly are so much more likely to die from heart attacks in the winter rather than in the summer,
14. Why African Americans, with their low vitamin D blood levels, are more likely to die from influenza and pneumonia than Whites are.

Nope milk won't cut it it just has synthetic Vitamin D and it isn't enough.

The effect of flu vaccines is modest at best and dangerous as they contain chemicals that destroy things we need.

(3)
British influenzologists have not been as infatuated with acquired immunity as their American counterparts. The roads first diverged between British and American virologists many years ago when three Brits (Andrewes, Laidlaw, and Smith) were credited with discovering the influenza virus; the Yanks thought Shope (who had earlier isolated the virus in pigs) should have had the honor. Then, in 1976, British experts warned the United States not to embark on the mass immunization of 43,000,000 Americans with the swine flu vaccine. The Americans ignored the British warning, which proved prophetic when swine flu failed to appear, but an outbreak of immunization related Guillain-Barre Syndrome did. The program was halted and the director of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) fired. For a fascinating set of papers on influenza that deals with these and other issues—available for free— go to the CDC website.

Vitamin D 'can lower cancer risk'
Oily fish is a source of vitamin D
High doses of vitamin D can reduce the risk of developing some common cancers by as much as 50%, US scientists claim.
Researchers reviewed 63 old studies and found that the vitamin could reduce the chances of developing breast, ovarian and colon cancer, and others.
Experts said more research was needed to draw firm conclusions.
Charities cautiously welcomed the University of California study but warned too much vitamin D could harm the kidneys and liver.
The "natural" form of the vitamin, called D3, is normally produced in the skin after exposure to sunlight, but is also obtained from certain foods such as oily fish, margarine and meat.
The easiest and most reliable way of getting the appropriate amount [of Vitamin D] is from food and a daily supplement
Professor Cedric Garland
The research, done at the University of California in San Diego, looked at the relationship between blood levels of vitamin D and cancer risk.
Survival rates for Afro-Caribbean people with breast, colon, prostate and ovarian cancers are worse than for white people, possibly because dark skins are not as good at making vitamin D, the researchers said.

Ah here is a good tip, I have much darker skin for a Caucasian, maybe this is why I catch more colds than my husband, of course he also spends more time outdoors, he smokes outside. I believe wee are just catching up with an iceberg here and we'll find that Vitamin D also boosts our immunity to lots of other problems as well. I will have to add a vitamin D supplement to my regimen. I do know taking it will eliminate a lot of pain in joints and muscles and it's a great essential fatty acid so it's a antioxident. Rationale: Vitamin D was used to treat tuberculosis in the pre-antibiotic era. Prospective studies to evaluate the effect of vitamin D supplementation on antimycobacterial immunity have not previously been performed. Objectives: To determine the effect of vitamin D supplementation on antimycobacterial immunity and vitamin D status. Methods: A double-blind randomized controlled trial was conducted in 192 healthy adult tuberculosis contacts in London, UK. Participants were randomized to receive a single oral dose of 2.5 mg vitamin D or placebo and followed up at 6 weeks. Measurements and Main Results: The primary outcome measure was assessed with a functional whole blood assay (BCG-lux assay) that measures the ability of whole blood to restrict luminescence, and thus growth, of recombinant reporter mycobacteria in vitro; the read-out is expressed as a luminescence ratio (luminescence post-infection/baseline luminescence). Interferon-gamma responses to the M. tuberculosis antigens early secretory antigenic target-6 and culture filtrate protein 10 were determined with a second whole blood assay. Vitamin D supplementation significantly enhanced the ability of participants' whole blood to restrict BCG-lux luminescence in vitro compared to placebo (mean luminescence ratio at follow-up 0.57 vs. 0.71 respectively, 95% CI for difference 0.01 to 0.25; P=0.03) but did not affect antigen-stimulated Interferon-gamma secretion. Conclusions: A single oral dose of 2.5 mg vitamin D significantly enhanced the ability of participants' whole blood to restrict BCG-lux luminescence in vitro without affecting antigen-stimulated Interferon-gamma responses. Clinical trials should be performed to determine whether vitamin D supplementation prevents reactivation of latent tuberculosis infection.

You can take your vitamin D in Cod liver oil but, WORD OF CAUTION HERE: Cod Liver oil contains lots of vitamin A as well as D, if you want to get more D in your diet I suggest you buy the D-3 listed here with a coupon I was offered as a good customer of this most excellent company, I like their supplements because they are made in the US, are safe, and the least expensive I've seen anywhere. I will get no commission on this if you click it here; if it bothers you that I'm trying to make a living here.

The DVD player had conked out and we weren't able to watch the movie we'd rented. Then my husband had a brilliant idea: "Why don't we use the PlayStation?" We pushed all the buttons, but couldn't get it to work, so we gave up and went upstairs. We were reading in bed when our 17-year-old son appeared in our doorway.

"Someone left a DVD in my PlayStation," he said.

"We were trying to watch a movie on it," my husband admitted, "but we couldn't get past the parental control screen."

"What a shame," our son said as he smiled and closed the door.

I slammed on the brakes to avoid hitting him, and the screeching tires attracted the attention of a nearby MP. I was in tears as the officer approached my car. "I didn't see him!" I blurted out.

"Well, ma'am," the MP remarked, grinning at me, "that's kind of the point."

A SERIOUS TREATISE ON HOW TO BE NOT SICK

Ok, so it’s not that serious but still. I woke up Saturday with a dry throat, no biggie, it’s nothing to worry about, I went about my normal routine, took my blood sugar, opened the drapes, talked to God, ate my apple for breakfast, worried just a little about that 6 pounds that have crept back since I started this diet. Before I got down to that weight years ago [you thought I was going to tell you how much I weigh, yeah, like That’s gonna happen] It was when I’d plateau-ed years before I got married, before I’d moved to Oregon from Seattle and WHY I’d joined a gym. The GYM? Yup that lasted until my guest cards ran out and reality set in; I had to go alone. Not only that but I was the fattest one there. Well maybe not the fattest but the combination of oldest/fattest/shortest. So, I did what any respectable middle-aged short fat woman would do, I quit going.

Ok that established, back to my cold. By mid-afternoon, my throat was definitely sore and snot was coming in 50 gallon drums. The weather has been cold and rainy, lovely. So, I’m sick and I have so much to do, it’s raining out and I still haven’t finished my fall garden work. I CAN’T BE SICK! I gotta do something. So, what did I do? Well er, nothing. I took my supplements like normal, ate my nearly no-carb diet and ignored the cold, like it’d just go away. I received an extra job, my bamboo arrived, I’d HAVE to take care of it Manana.

The next day I was really sick; head ballooned out with built up snot, ears, sinuses, nose, throat, cranium cavity-lots of extra space up there- and I had a headache, didn’t feel like eating so didn’t. Later we took a trip to our local and favorite pharmacy see: rite aid, to buy some of that occisillam or whatever it is, but the label assured me it cured all the wrong symptoms so I checked out the vi-????. It had stuff in it I can’t have so as I mentioned in another entry I tried the vitamin C cure. It had worked for me before but this time in my arrogance I decided to wait a day. Well after the vitamin C had its way with my innards, oh let’s just say there was some pain and throne sitting involved, I felt a bit better. This whole time I’ve been wearing my warmies, now there is absolutely nothing in this world I hate more than sweating and OH LUCKY ME, I’ve been hot flashing back-to-back for 24 years.

I was still coughing and I had trouble getting any sleep and the snot was still very much in evidence, and my throat was dry; our weather was wet but it was so dry inside, I started keeping a thermos of iced water close. I was cooking with sweated [that means very, very gently cooked], onions and garlics, lots and lots of them and I’ve been drinking green tea, with lemon and honey. All of the aforementioned things are antibacterial. I also taking a handful of vitamin C each day, and was gargling with my normal dosage of CellPower™ I take three times a day so my throat was ever so much better, no soreness, and with the use of boiling water on our stove, the dryness was not so pronounced either.

Yesterday, Tuesday, it was raining, I woke up feeling punk, no energy, too tired to move around but too rested to sleep, I couldn’t do anything, so I didn’t.

Today is Wednesday, I woke up feeling energetic, and not such a coldish-type o’ gal. I went out to the garage to get the load of bamboo I was given put up so we could park our car in there. What? You don’t park your car in your garage? Well we don’t either, but we’re suspecting that Thanksgiving would be a sneaky time to dump a load of snow on us.

I just got a friend’s entire crop of Arundo Donax- not the highest quality bamboo but still- and it made a huge leafy pile in the center of my garage. I have to peel all the leaves off, Sort and top them. I got about half done, That was a full 5 hours of hard work in a cold wet garage, Did I mention our weather has been rainy for days? Well it has. After working until after dark I still felt pretty good; But then I’ve eaten the equivalent of 10,000 oranges, 60 lemons, 40 onions, 32 garlic bulbs about two gallons of CellPower™ water, sweated for three days like a Stevedore, and had a complete bowel cleanse. I should be feeling better. I’m sore from my muscles being worked in the cold and damp- It was raining- but I feel pretty good. Now if I could only tell if I am having a hot flash or if I am febrile [running a fever]. I don’t own a thermometer. My reasons for this are
several.

First, and apparently this salient point is oft overlooked, a thermometer is a DIAGNOSTIC tool, it is not in any way therapeutic, yet it’s the very first thing people reach for. Like checking the crankcase oil, when your tranny is out, GET REAL, no matter what your temperature is, if you feel sick you probably are. Taking the temperature tells you NOTHING. And it doesn’t help.

Here’s a little tidbit, 98.6 is an average, we are all different, my NORMAL temperature is between 99-100. Does it help me to know if my current temp is 99 or 99.5? My hand is up, I’ll answer that one, NO!

If I am warm to the touch I’m running a fever, if not I probably am not running one. If I am running a fever it tells us what? That I am sick, Maybe. Or that I’ve been exercising-fat chance on that, or my clothing is too warm for the weather, probably not. So, we’ve established sickness.

I also have a theory I explained to the dentist who pulled my tooth. I said I do not believe in Pain, I use no pain, NO PAIN as my motto, I believe that pain is counter therapeutic, and my goal is to get well. He looked at me like I was serious, first time THAT has ever happened, well when you are only two inches taller than a certified elf -altho’ it might be nice to be certified- no one takes one seriously and he respected my wishes, he caused me no pain and hustled me out with a prescription for some pain reliever I threw away. I never did hurt from it, it healed nicely and I was back to work that afternoon.

Oh and that 6 pounds I was worrying about, I lost it somewhere, not that I’m looking for it, but for a little minute I considered its possible location, then I remembered. And I’m not wanting to find it neither!

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving, my husband was worried I wouldn’t get out turkey thawed in time, so he bought two frozen one and what the store cutely calls a ‘fresh’ one. Now what it really means is that it WAS frozen but they thawed it out maybe two weeks ago and it’s been sitting in the meat case for that fortnight with a label of *FRESH* on it. Steve and I have been married for nearly 8 years and I’ve yet to serve him a frozen turkey, but this year he was worried, so we now have a plethora of fowl.

I'm still taking

~~~
Martha Stewart will not be dining with us this Thanksgiving. I'm telling
you in advance, so don't act surprised. Since Ms. Stewart won't be coming,
I've made a few small changes: Our sidewalk will not be lined with
homemade, paper bag luminaries. After a trial run, it was decided that no
matter how cleverly done, rows of flaming lunch sacks do not have the
desired welcoming effect.
Once inside, our guests will note that the entry hall is not decorated
with the swags of Indian corn and fall foliage I had planned to make.
Instead, I've gotten the kids involved in the decorating by having them
track in colorful autumn leaves from the front yard. The mud was their
idea.
The dining table will not be covered with expensive linens, fancy china,
or crystal goblets. If possible, we will use dishes that match and
everyone will get a fork. Since this IS Thanksgiving, we will refrain from
using the plastic Peter Rabbit plate and the Santa napkins from last
Christmas. Our centerpiece will not be the tower of fresh fruit and
flowers that I promised. Instead we will be displaying a hedgehog-like
decoration handcrafted from the finest construction
paper. The artist assures me it is a turkey.
We will be dining fashionably late. The children will entertain you while
you wait. I'm sure they will be happy to share every choice comment I have
made regarding Thanksgiving, pilgrims and the turkey hotline. Please
remember that most of these comments were made at 5:00 a.m. upon
discovering that the turkey was still hard enough to cut diamonds.
As accompaniment to the children's recital, I will play a recording of
tribal drumming. If the children should mention that I don't own a
recording of tribal drumming, or that tribal drumming sounds suspiciously
like a frozen turkey in a clothes dryer, ignore them. They are lying.
We toyed with the idea of ringing a dainty silver bell to announce the
start of our feast. In the end, we chose to keep our traditional method.
We've also decided against a formal seating arrangement. When the smoke
alarm sounds, please gather around the table and sit where you like. In
the spirit of harmony, we will ask the children to sit at a separate
table. In a separate room. Next door.
Now, I know you have all seen pictures of one person carving a turkey in
front of a crowd of appreciative onlookers. This will not be happening at
our dinner. For safety reasons, the turkey will be carved in a private
ceremony. I stress "private" meaning: Do not, under any circumstances,
enter the kitchen to laugh at me. Do not send small, unsuspecting children
to check on my progress. I have an electric knife. The turkey is unarmed.
It stands to reason that I will eventually win. When I do, we will eat. I
would like to take this opportunity to remind my young diners that
"passing the rolls" is not a football play. Nor is it a request to bean
your sister in the head with warm tasty bread. Oh, and one reminder for
the adults: For the
duration of the meal, and especially while in the presence of young
diners, we will refer to the giblet gravy by its lesser known name:
Cheese Sauce. If a young diner questions you regarding the origins or type
of Cheese Sauce, plead ignorance. Cheese Sauce stains.
I forget, there is one last change. Instead of offering a choice between
12 different scrumptious desserts, we will be serving the traditional
pumpkin pie, garnished with whipped cream and small fingerprints. You will
still have a choice; take it or leave it. Martha Stewart will not be
dining with us this Thanksgiving. She probably won't come next year either. I am thankful.
~~~
Happy Thanksgiving or whatever Harvest festival you are celebrating to all world wide. May your plates never be empty and your hearts always be full

Turkeys will thaw in the morning, then warm in the oven to an
afternoon high near F 190. The kitchen will turn hot and humid, and if
you bother the cook, be ready for a severe squall or cold shoulder.
During the late afternoon and evening, the cold front of a knife will
slice through the turkey, causing an accumulation of one to two inches
on plates. Mashed potatoes will drift across one side while cranberry
sauce creates slippery spots on the other. Please pass the gravy. A
weight watch and indigestion warning have been issued for the entire
area, with increased stuffiness around the beltway. During the
evening, the turkey will diminish and taper off to leftovers, dropping
to a low of 34F in the refrigerator.

Looking ahead to Friday and Saturday, high pressure to eat sandwiches
will be established. Flurries of leftovers can be expected both days
with a 50 percent chance of scattered soup late in the day. We expect
a warming trend where soup develops. By early next week, eating
pressure will be low as the only wish left will be the bone.

Wishing everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving.

DIABETES PRIMER; WHAT HELPS.

(1)
Type 2
In type 2 diabetes, the body produces its own insulin, but the cells are unable to respond to it properly. This form of diabetes is associated with obesity and in some cases pregnancy. It usually affects people aged 40 and over. It is often possible for those with Type 2 to avoid taking drugs and to regulate the condition with changes to their diet.

This approach in most cases is more effective and more pleasant. But always consult with your health practitioner.

Diabetes can cause narrowing of the small blood vessels throughout the body. The higher the blood sugar levels, the more the small blood vessels narrow. Resulting in the vessels carrying less blood and circulation is impaired. Poor circulation can lead to a number of complications connected to diabetes: eye, foot and kidney problems.

There are number of foods and herbs that can assist in controlling the blood sugar levels.
Goldenseal will bring elevated blood sugar levels plunging down and step up the production of insulin in the pancreas. For type 2 diabetics this is great news, but for hypoglycaemics it is something to watch very carefully. Goldenseal should help but not cure diabetes. A tincture extract can be taken approximately 15 drops, two or three times daily.

Scientific studies have shown that onions reduce blood sugar levels for longer periods than insulin, but more slowly. Ensure you have plenty in your diet. Onions are best eaten raw as cooking partially destroys its active compounds, which are contained in a highly volatile oil. Like onions,Garlic has a significant ability to control blood sugar levels. Garlic has a strong odour so take as a tincture or other supplement. Either way try to ensure your diet is rich in garlic.

Fenugreek contains six compounds that help regulate blood sugar levels. Modern research shows that fenugreek seeds not only lower blood glucose but reduce insulin levels, total cholesterol and triglycerides, while increasing HDL (the good cholesterol).

Olive Leaf acts as a hypotensive (lowers the blood sugar levels) and dilates the walls of blood vessels. Thereby increasing blood flow and circulation through the body and to vital organs. It has no side effects even when taken over a long period, so it is good for diabetics.

Cayenne Pepper is a wonderful herb to stimulate circulation. When your blood is circulating more efficiently you don't need as much of the chemicals that your body produces. A little will go a long way.

A retired plant scientist and a former Smithsonian botanist, James A. Duke and Edward S.Ayensu believe that Korean Ginsengis a remedy for a wide variety of disease or ills. In their two-volume reference work Medicinal Plants of China (1:123) they report that among other aliments ginseng is good for diabetes.

Cinnamon is great for lowering blood sugar, but it needs to be taken in larger doses than our palate generally enjoys so it's best to take in Supplement form.

LULLABYE AND GOODNIGHT, the nightmare of insomnia

Please note there is a remedy search function to the right>>>>see: type in a health problem get the solution.

I've had insomnia all my life, I was sleep deprived from an early age. I'd lie awake at night worrying, I'd worry about my grades, my family, and when I couldn't think of anything to worry about, I'd worry about that.

I tried every cure known to mankind, I finally found that by listening to a tuneless 'music' tape over and over all night allowed me to fall and stay asleep all night. Well I can't do that now that I'm married, my husband who falls asleep very easily doesn't like the 'music'.

I was working but I never got enough sleep and I was rummy all day, I made stupid mistakes and was not a good employee, I had to quit the job and try to get well. I found out that my blood pressure was causing me to wake a lot every night. Now the High blood pressure isn't an issue but the frequent bladder-attacks are. I am healing from the diabetes, and even if I go way off my diet I am keeping my blood sugar within the proper ranges. Even my recent pH readings are for a normal person now staying at 7.25.

Sleep, however is sometimes still a problem. The CellPower™ cellpower~natural cures,natural alternative medicine,body rescue alkalizing,most alkalizing,alkalizing drops,body ph health
natural healing,cell health,oxygenate,cellpower,detoxify really helps but my body has a life-long habit of living a tortured night-life.

Once I start having a sleep problem I have a hard time breaking it again, I really try not to even think, "tonight I will not sleep." If I do I will have a hard time.
I read recently that women are more damaged by lack of sleep than men.

In fact:If you're a woman, you have an added risk: hypertension. Researchers found that women who get less than five hours of sleep at night had double the risk of having high blood pressure than women who sleep seven hours or more. Men are not so afflicted.

Sleep restriction can affect your endocrine system (including your adrenal glands, which handle stress) and inflammation (all illnesses ending in 'itis'). Getting less than seven hours of sleep at night for several nights in a row affects your memory, attention, and mood. It has also been 'proven' that a lack of sufficient sleep can cause depression.

One way to counteract the effects of a temporary insomnia is to take Melatrol- safe and natural~ valerian for pain relief and Magnesiuim for a great muscle relaxant .

(1)

Many people complain that they can’t fall asleep or stay asleep, or that they are sleepy during the day, but few consider these to be symptoms of a sleep disorder. Sleep deprivation is a symptom of a sleep disorder.

Particular behaviors during normal daytime activities are telltale signs of sleep deprivation. If you are experiencing one or more of the following symptoms during the day, you may not be getting enough restful sleep at night, and you may even have a sleep disorder.

Do you . . .

feel irritable or sleepy during the day?
have difficulty staying awake when sitting still, such as when watching television or reading?
fall asleep sometimes while driving?
have difficulty paying attention or concentrating at work, school, or home?
perform below your potential in work, school, or sports?
often get told by others that you look tired?
have difficulty with your memory?
react slowly?
have emotional outbursts?
feel like taking a nap almost every day?
require caffeinated beverages to keep yourself going?

If this is you, there are methods to cope,
~a bed that is comfortable really helps.
~And I find regular sleeping habits is also key,
~As I said before a pleasing white noise is also beneficial.
~If you are in pain, that will really cause problems also. A nice hot bath [my panacea for ills involving pain]. And possibly some hot cocoa, the old warm milk trick does work if you like milk.
~Serotonin levels that no longer as high as they were in one's youth can contribute to sleeplessness, so adding them back in the form of GABA a precursor of HGH, human growth hormone, will be efficacious, see the Swanson's link above right, they have the cheapest form of GABA anywhere, it really really works to reverse many signs of aging, I took it for a long time, also helps with sleep, it even reverses grey hair, that is it causes the follicles to regenerate and regrow real hair color.
~Allowing oneself to worry is a real sleep killer. If you can meditate or pray before falling asleep that will really be helpful.

I really hope this entry will bring blessed sleep to those who need it, I feel your pain~Nita Knapp.

other things I take are:coconut oil

is great for cooking and for continued weight loss. I really notice the difference in my weight control when I'm out of it for a while.
AND:
FLAX SEED OIL for my colon, but of course FLAX SEED OIL is also a great source of omega-3 essential fatty acids for THE BRAIN WHICH IS MOSTLY FAT, DID YOU KNOW THAT? AND YOUR HEART IS MOSTLY WATER!
And one each of the four essential minerals each day:
~SELENIUMhelps immune system,fights infection and aids circulation
~MAGNESIUMhelps to relax you, aids stress and muscle relaxing
~CHROMIUMimproves insulin sensitivity, and helps lower blood sugar.
~ZINC

I wish all of you the robust, vigorous health I'm getting closer to each day.

The other day a young person asked me how I felt about being old. I was taken aback, for I do not think of myself as old. Upon seeing my reaction, she was immediately embarrassed, but I explained that it was an interesting question, and I would ponder it, and let her know.

Old Age, I decided, is a gift.

I am now, probably for the first time in my life, the person I have always wanted to be. Oh, not my body! I sometime despair over my body, the wrinkles, the baggy eyes, and the sagging butt. And often I am taken aback by that old person that lives in my mirror (who looks like my mother!), but I don't agonize over those things for long.
I would never trade my amazing friends, my wonderful life, my loving family for less gray hair or a flatter belly. As I've aged, I've become more kind to myself, and less critical of myself. I've become my own friend. I don't chide myself for eating that extra cookie, or for not making my bed, or for buying that silly cement gecko that I didn't need, but looks so avante garde on my patio. I am entitled to a treat, to be messy, to be extravagant.
I have seen too many dear friends leave this world too soon; before they understood the great freedom that comes with aging.
Whose business is it if I choose to read or play on the computer until 4 AM and sleep until noon?
I will dance with myself to those wonderful tunes of the 60&70's, and if I, at the same time, wish to weep over a lost love ... I will.
I will walk the beach in a swim suit that is stretched over a bulging body, and will dive into the waves with abandon if I choose to, despite the pitying glances from the jet set.

They, too, will get old.
I know I am sometimes forgetful. But there again, some of life is just as well forgotten. And I eventually remember the important things.
Sure, over the years my heart has been broken. How can your heart not break when you lose a loved one, or when a child suffers, or even when somebody's beloved pet gets hit by a car? But broken hearts are what give us strength and understanding and compassion. A heart never broken is pristine and sterile and will never know the joy of being imperfect.
I am so blessed to have lived long enough to have my hair turning gray, and to have my youthful laughs be forever etched into deep grooves on my face. So many have never laughed, and so many have died before their hair could turn silver.
As you get older, it is easier to be positive. You care less about what other people think. I don't question myself anymore. I've even earned the right to be wrong.

So, to answer your question, I like being old. It has set me free. I like the person I have become. I am not going to live forever, but while I am still here, I will not waste time lamenting what could have been, or worrying about what will be. And I shall eat dessert every single day. (If I feel like it)

DADDY, HOW WAS I BORN???

A little boy goes to his father and asks "Daddy, how was I born?"

The father answers: "Well son, I guess one day you will need to find out anyway! Your Mom and I first got together in a chat room on Yahoo. Then I set up a date via e-mail with your Mom and we met at a cyber-cafe. We sneaked into a secluded room, where your mother agreed to a download from my hard drive. As soon as I was ready to upload, we discovered that neither one of us had used a firewall, and since it was too late to hit the delete button, nine months later a little Pop-Up appeared that said: 'You got Male!'"

A new student had joined the class and the teacher asked him if he knew his numbers.

"Yes," he said. "I do. My father taught me."

"Good. What comes after three."

"Four," answered the boy.

"What comes after six?"

"Seven."

"Very good," said the teacher. "Your dad did a good job. What comes after ten?"

"A jack," was the response.

TAKING CONTROL OF MY HEALTH~winging it

I go to see 'my' doctor about every 4-6 months. Since we have no medical insurance and in all my years of working for others I haven't had medical insurance, I've been forced to take care of myself. I found, very early on that I'm extremely sensitive to drugs and refuse all offers of them. I go to a free clinic here and usually get the nurse practitioner as my 'doctor'. I decide how much insulin I give myself. I had no teaching except the bare basics because we have no insurance. The only thing I was taught was the shot locations I was to rotate to, and why.

Since I learned about rotation, however I found out that giving shots in the belly made more of the insulin I did take available to my body. Arm and leg shots somehow are less efficient. I read that somewhere, I forget to put all the little nuggets I find in my blog, I'm trying to rectify that.
~~~
I prefer my natural solutons to druggish things. My girlfriend stays on the ADA diet, exercises like a guinea pig on a wheel she takes the Avandia type diabetic drugs and her blood glucose levels are all over the place every day; way up and way down. I'll stick with CellPower™ cellpower~natural cures,natural alternative medicine,body rescue alkalizing,most alkalizing,alkalizing drops,body ph health
natural healing,cell health,oxygenate,cellpower,detoxify.
~~~
Anyway I make decisions on how much insulin I give myself, by myself, I base them on a day-by-day reaction to how well something worked the days before, I used to [in my opinion, overdose myself using guidelines I yes, devised myself] but recently way slowed down on how much I give myself. I generally hold it to 15 units regardless of how high my blood glucose goes. I like to keep a regular schedule but you know how that goes, I get away from home and must eat before I get home and check my blood levels. When that happens and I finally take my readings of course it will be higher. But since I know I do well, even best with 10 units twice per day I try to keep it at that amount. When the reading is below 100 I give myself 5 units, anywhere above 125 it's 15. But since I want my body to adjust to less and less insulin, and stop being insulin resistant I am trying to give myself less and less.

Now here's where the doctor stuff comes in. They never ask me how much insulin I give myself. Now when I took care of elderly people with insulin therapy, the docs used to pour over the ledger of blood sugar readings and adjust the amounts I should give at certain levels, 'course They had insurance. For instance if the average was 200-260 they might recommend 30 units, at 180-200 maybe 25, and so on, I'm making this up so don't go by me. The language the doctor used was always iffy sounding like, "Well, let's see, why not try this and this, and this." No science behind it no hard and fast rules. Just by guess and by golly, or so it seemed to me. I took my original cue from that. Now I go by my gut. I gauge how I'm doing and how my diet is affecting the levels. I'm not suggesting anyone else follows my ways of doing things, if you have a doctor, let him/her decide for you. I am however, forced to be extremely sensitive to my own needs and to do these gauges for myself, and also I must forge into virgin territories here because officially there is no literature on this reversing process, just, yes, it can be done, but the day to day stuff is purely by winging it.

As I said I'm without much guidance in this area and I'm on my own, but I'm making good progress even though, it seems to have slowed to a crawl. I have other issues that are being resolved along with the diabetes, my candidiasis is going away, It was a multi-systemic problem that is slow to release it's hold on me.

All of my body has been healing up and yes, Diabetes itself affects the entire body's functioning; the candidiasis and IBS are related to each other and exacerbated by each other and the diabetes. With All this interrelated stuf, add to the mix the stroke damage and it seems to have affected so much. I'm just digging myself out of my personal health morass.

Weight is going too, but that also has slowed probably because it's just not the personal push it was. I am comfortable here and it really is hard to actually lose weight [pounds per week rather than pound per month]if one is past menopause. It means days/weeks of going hungry, and I gotta tell you the truth here, it is easier to fast than eat such bland small starvation portions. I also have a balancing act with my beleaguered colon, it works best if full and on starvation diets it doesn't get full enough to empy regularly. Also getting enough fiber is still an issue and on the starvation diet [well it's not really starvation, it just feels like it] I simply can't get enough fiber, no way!

I used candidate for candidiasis
when I first started out on this reversing diabetes diet. I wanted to get a jump start on the complication factors. I also take probiotics in the form of acidophilus and FLAX SEED OIL for my colon, but of course FLAX SEED OIL is also a great source of omega-3 essential fatty acids.

The biggest changes for the better hit me after I started taking CellPower™ cellpower~natural cures,natural alternative medicine,body rescue alkalizing,most alkalizing,alkalizing drops,body ph health
natural healing,cell health,oxygenate,cellpower,detoxify with it's cellular oxygenating power, the pH adjustment and bacterial/viral/fungal control has really CHANGED MY LIFE!

I'm still using is great for cooking and for continued weight loss.

State Of The World Message

I've had the opportunity to evaluate the condition of the world over the course of the last 48 hours and I'm pleased to report that there are many reasons to be hopeful.

In this short amount of time I've seen a very diverse group of two-year olds build sandcastles together and I stood witness as a nineteen-year-old Japanese woman learned to ride a bicycle for the first time. I watched as the sun rose twice, set twice and became partially eclipsed by the moon. I stared into the eyes of a sea lion and saw myself in his reflection. I shared a table with a seventy-seven year old woman inTijuana who offered me cookies and Seven-Up. I witnessed a car accident on Interstate 5 and a middle-aged trucker sprinting towards the wreckage to see if he could help.

I know that there is much adversity and suffering in today's world... and sometimes I think this is the path we must take to greater wisdom. But there's a lot of love out there too... and I'm convinced that this is still the most powerful force in the world.

THE GOOD NAPKINS...ahhhhh...the joys of having Girls...

My mother taught me to read when I was four years old (her first mistake). One day, I was in the bathroom and noticed one of the
cabinet doors was ajar.

I read the box in the cabinet. I then asked my mother why she was
keeping 'napkins' in the bathroom. Didn't they belong in the kitchen?

Not wanting to burden me with unnecessary facts, she told me that
those were for "special occasions" (her second mistake).

Now fast forward a few months....It's Thanksgiving Day, and my folks are leaving to pick up my uncle and his wife for dinner. Mom had assignments for all of us while they were gone.

Mine was to set the table.

When they returned, my uncle came in first and immediately burst into laughter. Next came his wife who gasped, then began giggling. Next came my father, who roared with laughter.

Then came Mom, who almost died of embarrassment when she saw each place setting on the table with a "special occasion" Kotex napkin at each plate, with the fork carefully arranged on top. I had even tucked the little tail in so they didn't hang off the edge!!

My mother asked me why I used these and, of course, my response sent the other adults into further fits of laughter.

"But, Mom, you said they were for special occasions!!!"

Pass this on to your girlfriends who need a good laugh or anyone who has a daughter!

Life is too short for drama & petty things, so kiss slowly, laugh insanely, Love truly and forgive quickly .
