********DIABETES AND CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE **********
Premise: Antioxidants/exercise are essential for diabetics who have cardiovascular disease.
(1)
Atherosclerosis starts with the deposition of low-density lipoproteins (LDL or “bad cholesterol”) in blood vessel walls. However, LDL deposits by themselves do not cause atherosclerosis. LDL lipids have to be oxidatively damaged before cardiovascular disease (CVD) develops.

Given the role of oxidative damage in the development of CVD, antioxidant therapy seemed the obvious thing to try. It was therefore surprising that several large-scale clinical trials of patients with cardiovascular disease failed to show any benefit from antioxidant supplementation. There were indications, however, that a subset of patients in these trials might have derived a benefit from taking antioxidants. These patients had two things in common, namely diabetes and a particular form of the haptoglobin protein.

This world we live in where we eat polluted foods, drink polluted water, breathe polluted air and as stressed as we are free radicals and toxins are not theoretical. For Diabetics, these stressors are even more of a factor. The Liver/pancreas combination needed to keep disease at bay is already compromised. Many other stresses, are magnified in Diabetics as well because for instance lack of sleep [with which diabetics have difficulty], increases weight issues and low energy levels resultant contribute to lack of energy=less exercise, more weight, and so it goes. The over-worked Liver can't cope with its toxin-load and that is another addition to stress.

to wit:
Cortisol stress hormone when released has been shown to cause weight gain just from being under stress, especially in the mid-section. Leptin-the protein hormone is the full button; tells your body you do not need more food, and is released more efficiently when we are rested. The Ghrelin petide hormone; the one that increases appetite, is released when you are not rested.

So what can we do? First exercise is great, add a few leglifts when you are just standing around, do the belly/butt tucks, take the stairs, go to the store on your bike on occasion. Just keep moving around, exercise doesn't have to be all at once or the same kinds of things.

Take Antioxidants, this will help flush the pollutants/free radicals/toxins away. Just a quick refresher, the antioxidants create a chemical bond with the free rads and pull them out in the waste. If you aren't eating an optimal diet then Glutathione-the master antioxidant is a great helper to counteract many diabetic complications.

Of course eating a great diet of lo-[bad]carbs, fresh raw veggies, and healthy free range meats is the very best way to heal...To replace all the low mineral foods we seem to have because of our depleted soils and poor farming practices~SELENIUMhelps immune system,fights infection and aids circulation
~MAGNESIUMhelps to relax you, aids stress and muscle relaxing
~CHROMIUMimproves insulin sensitivity, and helps lower blood sugar.
~ZINC especially to help you heal.
I also eat, one of the best fats for the Omega-3~6 balance and losing weight.
~coconut oil

And of course the acid destroying CellPower™that helps control cravings, adds enzymes and fights diseases and fungi.

Also I really have to give you one little miracle I know to be true: Cinnamon, but it needs to be pure and at least a teaspoon per meal to do any good. It really lowers my blood glucose levels. OH AND SO DOES CELERY, EAT LOTS OF CELERY!

A parish priest was being honored at a dinner on the 25th anniversary of his arrival in that parish. A leading local politician, who was a member of the congregation, was chosen to make the presentation and to give a little speech at the dinner, but he was delayed in traffic; so the priest decided to say his own few words as they waited.
" You will understand ," he said" the seal of the confessional can never be broken, however I got my first impression of the parish from the first confession I heard here. I can only hint vaguely about this, but when I came here 25 years ago I thought I had been assigned to the most terrible place. The very first chap who entered my confessional told me how he had stolen a television set, and when stopped by the police had almost murdered the officer! Father, he told me he had embezzled money from his place of business and had an affair with the boss's wife. I was appalled! But as the days went on I learned that my people were not all like that, and I had, indeed, come to a fine parish full of understanding and loving people."
Just as the priest finished his talk, the politician arrived full of apologies at being late. He immediately began the presentation and give his talk.
"I'll never forget the first day our parish priest arrived at the parish." said the politician, "In fact, I had the honor of being the first one to go to him in confession."

LOSE WEIGHT? IT CAN BE DONE

I want to take a look today at several alternative methods of weight loss, from such prodigious sources as Medline.com,Mayo clinic, and other state-sponsored and 'official' sources.
Conjugated Linoleic Acid
Linoleic acid is an essential fatty acid which produces prostaglandins. Prostaglandins are found in every cell and are important to maintaining health. Numerous clinical studies appear to show that CLA improves body composition by reducing fat while preserving muscle tissue. Tonalin® is the licensed brand name of conjugated linoleic acid (CLA). CLA is an omega-6 fatty acid first discovered in the early 80’s that continues to be studied for its diverse applications in promoting good health. Tonalin® CLA is made through a proprietary process that converts the linoleic acid derived from safflower oil to conjugated linoleic acid.

Tonalin® CLA is a safe, scientifically proven, effective nutritional supplement that contains no stimulants of any kind. One of the most significant reasons for obesity in America could be due to a CLA deficiency. While the only way to get CLA in food is through meat and dairy products, it has been shown that CLA content in our food has decreased by 60% over the past 40 years. This is due to the current feeding practices of cattle farms. CLA has been shown in numerous studies to reduce body fat while increasing lean muscle mass.

Studies have shown that CLA inhibits lipoprotein lipase, an enzyme that breaks down fat from our diet so that it can be absorbed and stored in the body. By suppressing this enzyme, CLA helps reduce the amount of fat deposited and stored throughout the body. To summarize, studies have shown that CLA reduces body fat in four ways.

By decreasing the amount of fat that is stored after eating
By increasing the rate of fat breakdown in fat cells
By increasing the rate of fat burning
By decreasing the total number of fat cells
Conjugated Linoleic Acid

(1)From the Mayo Clinic:
*bitter orange (claims) Decreases appetite (Mayo response) Touted as an "ephedra substitute" but may cause health problems similar to those of ephedra
Long-term effects unknown

truth=like ephedra, it will help to supress the appetite, but it is a 'legal' speed; my daughter started her addiction to speed on Ephedra It can lead some people to desire those effects and turn to illegal drugs. It also is not for people with high blood pressure or heart problems.

*Chitosan (claims) Blocks the absorption of dietary fat(Mayo response)Relatively safe, but unlikely to cause weight loss
Can cause constipation, bloating and other gastrointestinal complaints

Truth= I've used it with good results, I wasn't aware of any constipating effects and indeed don't feel it added to my own problems in that area.

*chromium (claims) Reduces body fat and builds muscle (Mayo response) Relatively safe, but unlikely to cause weight loss

Truth=It is an essential mineral for Diabetics, no one claims it does anything but converts fat to muscle WITH physical activity. It improves insulin sensitivity in Diabetics, beefing up the GTF [glucose tolerance factor] which is responsible for increasing the action of insulin in the body. Insulin is a vital hormone responsible for transporting glucose inside cells and maintaining proper blood sugar and blood lipid (cholesterol) levels in the body. Also a lack of chromium can actually be a cause of Diabetes.

*Conjugated Linoleic Acid(claims) Reduces body fat, decreases appetite and builds muscle (Mayo response) Might decrease body fat and increase muscle, but isn't likely to reduce total body weight
Can cause diarrhea, indigestion and other gastrointestinal problems

Truth=One of the most significant reasons for obesity in America could be due to a CLA deficiency. While the only way to get CLA in food is through meat and dairy products, it has been shown that CLA content in our food has decreased by 60% over the past 40 years due to poor farming practices and animal husbandry. Note: this is about the time obesity started becoming a national epidemic, coincidence? I think not.....

*Country mallow (heartleaf)(claims) Decreases appetite and increases the number of calories burned (Mayo response) Contains ephedra, which is dangerous
Likely unsafe and should be avoided

truth=it might be helpful for very healthy individuals but is not for older, less healthy people.

*green tea extract(claims)Increases calorie and fat metabolism and decreases appetite (Mayo response) Limited evidence to support the claim
Can cause vomiting, bloating, indigestion and diarrhea
May contain a large amount of caffeine

truth=Contrary to the Mayo response, there has been a large amount of study done on green tea, it ahas been shown conclusively to aid both in weight loss but also for health, it has ECGC shown to inhibit cancers of many varieties, the 'caffeine' in green tea is not the same or dangerous as that in coffee, which Mayo deems 'good'. Also the amount of caffeine in green tea is not that high.

~~~digression~~~
I'm sorry, but I need to make a point here in the middle, Mayo is straining at gnats while swallowing camels whole, Let's review, every one of these responses included an admonition:'long-term effects unknown' or 'may be harmful'[I didn't include them because I wanted to pose this later]. Excuse me, but the pharmaceuticals they do tout as both 'good for you' and efficacious are no longer heavily tested prior to being sold and are frequently merely brought out these days just to be tested on consumers and later taken off the market. So would you rather use an herbal product or an chemical one? Who do YOU trust?
~~~end digression~~~

*Guar gum( claims) Blocks the absorption of dietary fat and increases the feeling of fullness, which leads to decreased calorie intake (Mayo response) Relatively safe, but unlikely to cause weight loss
Can cause diarrhea, flatulence and other gastrointestinal problems

truth=Guar gum is a thickening agent,Guar gum is a water-soluble fiber that acts as a bulk forming laxative, and as such, it is claimed to be effective in promoting regular bowel movements and relieve constipation and chronic related functional bowel ailments; such as diverticulosis, Crohn's disease, colitis and irritable bowel syndrome, among others. I have no personal knowledge of this but it looks promising.

*Hoodia(claims) Decreases appetite (Mayo response) No conclusive evidence to support the claim

Truth=In my personal experience any benefit would be from placebo effect-don't waste your money.
~~~
(2)*Guarana: Made from the seeds of a plant native to Brazil, guarana is an effective central nervous system stimulant. It is used as a weight loss product due to its stimulant and diuretic effect. Guarana contains 2½ to five percent caffeine and may cause high blood pressure. Some of the extracts have been known to inhibit platelet aggregation—known to prolong bleeding and interact with anticoagulants (i.e., warfarin [Coumadin]). Many advertisements state that guarana is free from side effects; however, this statement is not true. Side effects from guarana may include nausea, dizziness, and anxiousness.
*Yerba Mate: Also known as Paraguay tea, yerba mate is a strong central nervous system stimulant (the doses typically used mimic that of 100 to 200 milligrams of caffeine). The principle side effects reported are excessive stimulation and high blood pressure. Yerba mate has not been proven to enable weight loss. Some case reports of poisoning (leading to hospitalization) with this agent have been reported, and excessive use has been linked to esophageal cancer.
*Herbal diuretics: There are many varieties of herbal diuretics that are very commonly found in over-the-counter (OTC) weight loss products and herbal weight loss preparations. Most of the diuretics used OTC are derived from xanthine alkaloids (i.e., caffeine or theobromine). You should avoid preparations that contain juniper seeds (capable of causing renal damage), equistine (neurotoxic—causing brain damage), and horse tail or shave grass (several toxic compounds leading to convulsions or hyperactivity). Most of the herbal diuretics are not toxic but have been known to interact with medications (i.e., lithium, digoxin, or conventional diuretics such as furosemide or hydrochlorothiazide). Most of the herbal diuretics do not provide enough of a diuresis (water loss) to be considered effective in losing weight.
I do not recommend any diuretics due to the action of disturbing the electrolytic balance due to flushing the system of essential minerals. We need electrolytes for the firing of our heart. No fire, no heart beat. Think internal combustion engine, sort of. Look it up for more information, I don't have room here to go into details, but possibly I will in a future blog.
My best recommendation for lasting weight loss is a low carb diet with some added fiber. Eat nearly no food, but what you do eat make it count. Eat whole, fresh, foods. Non-acidic as much as possible.
I am taking CellPower™ cellpower~natural cures,natural alternative medicine,body rescue alkalizing,most alkalizing,alkalizing drops,body ph health<br />natural healing,cell health,oxygenate,cellpower,detoxify; has really CHANGED MY LIFE! The only other things I take are::coconut oil
is great for cooking and for continued weight loss. I really notice the difference in my weight control when I'm out of it for a while.
AND:
FLAX SEED OIL for my colon, but of course FLAX SEED OIL is also a great source of omega-3 essential fatty acids. And one each of the four essential minerals each day:
~SELENIUMhelps immune system,fights infection and aids circulation
~MAGNESIUMhelps to relax you, aids stress and muscle relaxing
~CHROMIUMimproves insulin sensitivity, and helps lower blood sugar.
~ZINC every day.
My mother was away all weekend at a business conference. During a break, she decided to call home collect. My six-year-old brother picked up the phone and heard a stranger's voice say, "We have a Marcia on the line. Will you accept the charges?" Frantic, he dropped the receiver and came charging outside screaming, "Dad! They've got Mom! And they want money!"
Two elderly gentlemen took their wives out to eat, and after they were seated, a lively restaurant discussion ensued. Joe told Bob that he should also take his wife to the fabulous eatery they visited the previous week. “It was the best!” said Joe.
“What’s the name of it?” Bob naturally asked.
“The name ... uh … what do you call that great-smelling bloom that has thorns on the stem?” said Joe.
Bob replied, “Rose?”
“That’s it,” Joe happily commented. Whereupon, he turned to his wife and asked, “Rose, Rose, what’s the name of that super restaurant we visited last week?”
Mom was getting swamped with calls from strangers. The reason? A medical billing service had launched an 800 number that was identical to hers. When she called to complain, they told her to get a new number. "I've had mine for twenty years," she pleaded. "Couldn't you change yours?" They refused. So Mom said, "Fine. From now on I'm going to tell everyone who calls that their bill is paid in full." The company got a new number the next day.
During a shopping trip to a department store, I was looking around for a salesperson so I could pay for my purchase. Finally I ran into a woman wearing the store's ID tag. "Excuse me," I said. "I'm trying to locate a cashier."
"I can't help you," she briskly replied, barely slowing down. "I work in customer service." And she walked away.
Cell service in our area was so rotten we told our service provider to cancel our contract. About a week later, we received a letter saying they wanted to continue the relationship. The reason that they were writing? They had been unsuccessful in contacting us by phone. Hello?
~~~
My husband, Jeff, and I incurred several problems while assembling our new computer system, so we called the help desk. The man on the phone started to talk to Jeff in computer jargon, which confused us even more. "Sir," my husband politely said, "please explain what I should do as if I were a four-year-old."

"Okay," the computer technician replied. "Son, could you please put your mommy on the phone?"
~~~
After booking my 90-year-old mother on a flight from Florida to Nevada, I called the airline to go over her needs. The woman representative listened patiently as I requested a wheelchair and an attendant for my mother because of her arthritis and impaired vision. I also asked for a special meal and assistance in changing planes. My apprehension lightened a bit when the woman assured me everything would be taken care of. I thanked her profusely. "Why, you're welcome," she replied. I was about to hang up when she cheerfully asked, "And will your mother be needing a rental car?"
Have an awesome day brimming with health and vitality.
Skin care and Adiponectin revisited
I've been getting a newsletter from a Doctor Nan Fuchs. She is selling face creams but her latest email gives some insights on why the creams on the market don't quite work as well as they say they do.
First there is gasoline in most of them. Just look at the list of ingredients, do you see petroleum or fragrance on it? There you go gasoline....and it's harsh and drying to skin. Can you say wrinkles?
Next look for Surfactants, it is....wait for it....SOAP! It strips the outter, protective layer of the skin. Remember we talked before on how soap isn't good for skin and how the skin is our first layer of defense against infectious diseases. see: how does the immune system work.
I remember laughing at my grandmother because she said she didn't use any soaps on her face and then later I realized that soap will cause skin to dry and split. Also everything on the skin has a tendancy to soak in and become part of us. I certainly do not want any antibiotics creating any superbugs around OR IN me!
Dr. Nan Fuchs wrote
(1)
Because soaps are so effective at removing the protective barrier of the skin, cosmetics manufacturers like to sneak them in whenever they can. They may disguise them by using the chemical name, but all the names will include some form of "sulphate." Two of the most commonly used soaps are sodium lauryl sulphate and ammonium lauryl sulphate, found in many detergents and shampoos. However, any ingredient that ends in "sulphate" should raise your suspicions!
More ingredients your skin care should never include:
~Ethanolamines (Monoethanolamine aka MEA, Diethanolamine aka DEA, Triethanolamine aka TEA): common pH stabilizers; when exposed to oxygen/air form nitrosoamines, which may be irritating and/or toxic.
~Mineral oil: petroleum derived hydrocarbons; used as inexpensive base in some products. Blocks pores and interferes with normal skin function.
~Synthetic Colors: These serve no useful purpose, and may be dangerous for long-term use. Usually labeled as FD&C or D&C, followed by a color and a number, e.g. FD&C Red No. 6 or D&C Green No.6.
~Parabens (e.g. Methyl, Ethyl, Propyl and Butyl Paraben): Used as preservatives; inhibit microbial growth and extend shelf life of products. Methyl paraben eventually degrades, releasing methanol, a potentially toxic chemical. Most people don't have an obvious skin reaction to parabens.
For decades, women have been duped into applying detergent to our precious skin, and letting it sit there for hours! Worse, we've been duped into believing we were doing the right thing.
So while trying to protect and nourish your skin, you were unwittingly stripping precious moisture and destroying our perfectly healthy skin cells! And the bad news doesn't stop there, because... You're "Cleaning" Your Face with Chemicals!
Also... I've been reading up on Adiponectin [See: key to obesity discovered a bit more too and have found this fat controlling hormone is found less in those who are already overweight and those who are diabetic. Adiponectin as you may remember; is a protein hormone that modulates a number of metabolic processes, including glucose regulation and fatty acid catabolism. Adiponectin is exclusively secreted from adipose tissue into the bloodstream and is very abundant in plasma relative to many hormones. The less a person weighs the more adiponectin they have in their systems it seems. The hormone plays a role in the suppression of the metabolic derangements that may result in type 2 diabetes, obesity, atherosclerosis and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.
Adiponectin exerts some of its weight reduction effects via the brain. This is similar to the action of leptin, but the two hormones perform complementary actions, and can have additive effects.
Leptin given to obese mice aided in weight loss. Leptin concentrations are low in people and animals with low body fat, and leptin appears to be a significant regulator of reproductive function.
Conclusion: Adiponectin and leptin are necessary for weight and glucosec management ands apparently Leptin is necessary for reproductive function. It may be one reason why younger women might be more capable of reproduction and find weight loss easier. Because as we all know Hormones are not manufactured in older bodies as readily as in younger bodies. Also if one is healthier to begin with, i.e. younger, having had less exposure to chemical contaminents; both fertility and weight loss are easier to achieve. It's not fair? Well of course not, but health has no age barrier, I'm definately a witness to that. Of course since I've been taking CellPower™ cellpower~natural cures,natural alternative medicine,body rescue alkalizing,most alkalizing,alkalizing drops,body ph health<br />natural healing,cell health,oxygenate,cellpower,detoxify, I have been getting healthier by leaps and bounds. And you can too.
Also I'm taking FLAX SEED OIL for my colon, but of course FLAX SEED OIL is also a great source of omega-3 essential fatty acids. AND
conjugated linoleic acid~CLA
CLA improves body composition by reducing body fat while preserving muscle tissue, an omega-6 fatty acid to promote better health.
If you feel you have received your teenaged daughter in error:
To determine whether you were supposed to receive a teenaged girl, please examine your new daughter carefully. Does she:
a) Look very similar to your original daughter, only with more makeup and less clothing?
b) Refuse to acknowledge your existence on the planet Earth (except when requesting money)?
c) Sleep in a burrow of dirty laundry?
If any of these are true, you have received the correct item. Nice try, though.
Activation
To activate your teenaged daughter, simply place her in the vicinity of a telephone or Instant Messenger. No further programming is required.
Feeding
Your teenaged daughter requires regular meals, which must be purchased for her at restaurants, because she detests everything you eat because it is like so disgusting. She does not want you to accompany her to these restaurants, because some people might see you and like I'm sure I want my friends to see me eating dinner with my parents. Either order take-out food or just give her the money, preferably both. If you order pizza, never answer the doorbell because the delivery boy might see you and Ohmigod he is so hot. Yes, your daughter's idea of an attractive man is the pizza boy.
Have a day marked by vigorous health and financial abundance.
TAKING CONTROL OF MY HEALTH~winging it
I go to see 'my' doctor about every 4-6 months. Since we have no medical insurance and in all my years of working for others I haven't had medical insurance, I've been forced to take care of myself. I found, very early on that I'm extremely sensitive to drugs and refuse all offers of them. I go to a free clinic here and usually get the nurse practitioner as my 'doctor'. I decide how much insulin I give myself. I had no teaching except the bare basics because we have no insurance. The only thing I was taught was the shot locations I was to rotate to, and why.
Since I learned about rotation, however I found out that giving shots in the belly made more of the insulin I did take available to my body. Arm and leg shots somehow are less efficient. I read that somewhere, I forget to put all the little nuggets I find in my blog, I'm trying to rectify that.
~~~
I prefer my natural solutons to druggish things. My girlfriend stays on the ADA diet, exercises like a guinea pig on a wheel she takes the Avandia type diabetic drugs and her blood glucose levels are all over the place every day; way up and way down. I'll stick with CellPower™ cellpower~natural cures,natural alternative medicine,body rescue alkalizing,most alkalizing,alkalizing drops,body ph health<br />natural healing,cell health,oxygenate,cellpower,detoxify.
~~~
Anyway I make decisions on how much insulin I give myself, by myself, I base them on a day-by-day reaction to how well something worked the days before, I used to [in my opinion, overdose myself using guidelines I yes, devised myself] but recently way slowed down on how much I give myself. I generally hold it to 15 units regardless of how high my blood glucose goes. I like to keep a regular schedule but you know how that goes, I get away from home and must eat before I get home and check my blood levels. When that happens and I finally take my readings of course it will be higher. But since I know I do well, even best with 10 units twice per day I try to keep it at that amount. When the reading is below 100 I give myself 5 units, anywhere above 125 it's 15. But since I want my body to adjust to less and less insulin, and stop being insulin resistant I am trying to give myself less and less.
Now here's where the doctor stuff comes in. They never ask me how much insulin I give myself. Now when I took care of elderly people with insulin therapy, the docs used to pour over the ledger of blood sugar readings and adjust the amounts I should give at certain levels, 'course They had insurance. For instance if the average was 200-260 they might recommend 30 units, at 180-200 maybe 25, and so on, I'm making this up so don't go by me. The language the doctor used was always iffy sounding like, "Well, let's see, why not try this and this, and this." No science behind it no hard and fast rules. Just by guess and by golly, or so it seemed to me. I took my original cue from that. Now I go by my gut. I gauge how I'm doing and how my diet is affecting the levels. I'm not suggesting anyone else follows my ways of doing things, if you have a doctor, let him/her decide for you. I am however, forced to be extremely sensitive to my own needs and to do these gauges for myself, and also I must forge into virgin territories here because officially there is no literature on this reversing process, just, yes, it can be done, but the day to day stuff is purely by winging it.
As I said I'm without much guidance in this area and I'm on my own, but I'm making good progress even though, it seems to have slowed to a crawl. I have other issues that are being resolved along with the diabetes, my candidiasis is going away, It was a multi-systemic problem that is slow to release it's hold on me.
All of my body has been healing up and yes, Diabetes itself affects the entire body's functioning; the candidiasis and IBS are related to each other and exacerbated by each other and the diabetes. With All this interrelated stuf, add to the mix the stroke damage and it seems to have affected so much. I'm just digging myself out of my personal health morass.
Weight is going too, but that also has slowed probably because it's just not the personal push it was. I am comfortable here and it really is hard to actually lose weight [pounds per week rather than pound per month]if one is past menopause. It means days/weeks of going hungry, and I gotta tell you the truth here, it is easier to fast than eat such bland small starvation portions. I also have a balancing act with my beleaguered colon, it works best if full and on starvation diets it doesn't get full enough to empy regularly. Also getting enough fiber is still an issue and on the starvation diet [well it's not really starvation, it just feels like it] I simply can't get enough fiber, no way!
I used candidate for candidiasis
when I first started out on this reversing diabetes diet. I wanted to get a jump start on the complication factors. I also take probiotics in the form of acidophilus and FLAX SEED OIL for my colon, but of course FLAX SEED OIL is also a great source of omega-3 essential fatty acids.
The biggest changes for the better hit me after I started taking CellPower™ cellpower~natural cures,natural alternative medicine,body rescue alkalizing,most alkalizing,alkalizing drops,body ph health<br />natural healing,cell health,oxygenate,cellpower,detoxify with it's cellular oxygenating power, the pH adjustment and bacterial/viral/fungal control has really CHANGED MY LIFE!
State Of The World Message
I've had the opportunity to evaluate the condition of the world over the course of the last 48 hours and I'm pleased to report that there are many reasons to be hopeful.
In this short amount of time I've seen a very diverse group of two-year olds build sandcastles together and I stood witness as a nineteen-year-old Japanese woman learned to ride a bicycle for the first time. I watched as the sun rose twice, set twice and became partially eclipsed by the moon. I stared into the eyes of a sea lion and saw myself in his reflection. I shared a table with a seventy-seven year old woman inTijuana who offered me cookies and Seven-Up. I witnessed a car accident on Interstate 5 and a middle-aged trucker sprinting towards the wreckage to see if he could help.
I know that there is much adversity and suffering in today's world... and sometimes I think this is the path we must take to greater wisdom. But there's a lot of love out there too... and I'm convinced that this is still the most powerful force in the world.
THE GOOD NAPKINS...ahhhhh...the joys of having Girls...
My mother taught me to read when I was four years old (her first mistake). One day, I was in the bathroom and noticed one of the
cabinet doors was ajar.
I read the box in the cabinet. I then asked my mother why she was
keeping 'napkins' in the bathroom. Didn't they belong in the kitchen?
Not wanting to burden me with unnecessary facts, she told me that
those were for "special occasions" (her second mistake).
Now fast forward a few months....It's Thanksgiving Day, and my folks are leaving to pick up my uncle and his wife for dinner. Mom had assignments for all of us while they were gone.
Mine was to set the table.
When they returned, my uncle came in first and immediately burst into laughter. Next came his wife who gasped, then began giggling. Next came my father, who roared with laughter.
Then came Mom, who almost died of embarrassment when she saw each place setting on the table with a "special occasion" Kotex napkin at each plate, with the fork carefully arranged on top. I had even tucked the little tail in so they didn't hang off the edge!!
My mother asked me why I used these and, of course, my response sent the other adults into further fits of laughter.
"But, Mom, you said they were for special occasions!!!"
Pass this on to your girlfriends who need a good laugh or anyone who has a daughter!
Life is too short for drama & petty things, so kiss slowly, laugh insanely, Love truly and forgive quickly .
A KEY TO OBESITY DISCOVERED
I was so excited about this news I felt I just had to post on Sunday even though I don't usually write on Sundays
(1)
Adiponectin is a new link between obesity, insulin resistance, and cardiovascular disease.
"Adiponectin is a novel and important member of the adipocytokine family which has regulatory functions in the glucose and lipid metabolism. Adiponectin stimulates fatty acids oxidation, reduces plasma triglycerides, and improves glucose metabolism by increasing the insulin sensitivity. In addition, adiponectin inhibits the inflammatory process that accompanies atherogenesis, as it reduces the expression of endothelial adhesion molecules, macrophage-to-foam cell transformation, tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) expression in macrophages and adipocytes, and smooth muscle cell
While I disagree with the first sentance, that this is a new hormone I am excited about it's use to help people with the heartbreak of obesity.
Medicinenet.com says it is a protein hormone released by the adipocytes (fat cells) that regulates the metabolism of fats in the body and insulin production. It also has an anti-inflammatory effect on the lining of blood cells. It has been shown to lower the risk of Heart Disease.
The obesity epidemic has become a major public
health problem in both industrialized countries and the developing world. Recent studies
suggest that the major development of persistent adiposity is established already at preadolescence.
The fact that obesity is mainly determined before puberty implies that preschool
detection of children at risk is essential along with individual prevention programs provided by
the school health services in liaison with specialists. However, few methods are available for
cost-effective detection of the pre-school children at risk.
This exciting folks they have finally isolated the cause of obesity, However I've only found, and I did search for it, one product with ingredients to enable one to balance their leptin and adiponectin levels to reduce weight: Swanson System Weight Loss w/Tart Cherry from Swansons Health Products great prices and high Quality-Absolutely!
Remember we found out yesterday that MSG causes obesity. If you really need more taste in your foods go hotter, go with herbs, or go with stronger-flavored whole foods.
OK, OK, it's not diabetes, but a lower weight will allow the body to more readily control it's Blood Glucose levels. It's also best for the heart and lots of other diseases, [if you listen to doctors it causes everything from hangnails to Leprosy]including lung diseases, circulatory problems and strokes.
I find that since I've been taking CellPower™ I am getting well from so many problems I've had. and I am still losing weight.
Some more help that I need, and for more help with weight control,coconut oil
OK, it's the wrong season for this but not if you are in Australia or live in the mountains.
Alp: One of a number of ski mountains in Europe. Also a shouted request for assistance made by a European skier on a mountain. An appropriate reply: "What Zermatter?"
Inertia: Tendency of a skier's body to resist changes in direction or speed due to the action of Newton's First Law of Motion. Goes along with these other physical laws:
* Two objects of greatly different mass falling side by side will have the same rate of descent, but the lighter one will have larger hospital bills.
* Matter can neither be created nor destroyed, but if it drops out of a parka pocket, don't expect to encounter it again in our universe.
* When an irresistible force meets an immovable object, an unethical lawyer will immediately appear.
Shin: The bruised area on the front of the leg that runs from the point where the ache from the wrenched knee ends to where the soreness from the strained ankle begins.
Skier: One who pays an arm and a leg for the opportunity to break them.
Stance: Your knees should be flexed, but shaking slightly; your arms straight and covered with a good layer of goose flesh; your hands forward, palms clammy, knuckles white and fingers icy, your eyes a little crossed and darting in all directions. Your lips should be quivering, and you should be mumbling, "Why?"
Traverse: To ski across a slope at an angle; one of two quick and simple methods of reducing speed.
Tree: The other method.
Plateaus
cell power
After one has worked on weight loss or getting one's blood sugar to normal levels, for some time there is a time when a plateau is reached. Sometimes bad habits have crept in and the weight is not coming off because of that, or just that the body's metabolism has reached a balance between intake, output and exercise. I guess this would be the time to up the exercise and lower the intake again.
We can actually live on much less food than our modern society seems to think. Reaching satiety is tricky is one has accustomed one body to live on large meals and several snacks. I want to say here that I do not believe in snacks, meals are good enough. I know the ADA has recommended that one eat 6 small meals per day, but what is a 'small meal'? If you check out the portions at your favorite restaurant the meals are hardly small. Would 1/2 that be right or 1/4? Actually a 'small meal' is just a snack, and just a few bites. Most people don't want to live on small snacks and no three course meals so psychologically snacks just won't do it. Just my opinion, here.
To get back to exercise; I'm a firm believer in going slowly, if you go too hard at the inception of an exercise program you might burn out when the next day is filled with so much pain you can't go on.
Anyway if you plateau out on your weight loss, as I have a regrouping might be in order. This might be a good time to get more exercise, check the diet for bad habits and eliminate them and go on from there. Losing a lot of weight take a long time. Losing weight so that you don't have hanging folds of flab takes time and exercise.
I did try to do some research on this subject but all I am finding these days is stuff like "HFCS isn't so bad." and "I'm sure the FDA wouldn't allow any cancer-causing substance to be on the market."[talking about Aspartame here].
I can't lend any credence to their nonsense by using their quotes as research, so today you are stuck with my opinions. I am checking out my diet, I have allowed some bad habits creep in and I'll be raising my exercise levels and I know that taking :cell power
and keep as many alkalizing foods in my diet as I can, and For weight control, lowering Cholesterol, and balancing the Omega -3's and Omega-6 intake I'm still taking a tablespoon of For weight loss I'm still takingcoconut oil
are helping to make me well, and by the way it's working on the candidiasis also! My teeth sparkle, I kid you not, and while I haven't lost more weight, I'm holding my own and my blood sugar, blood pressure, AND MY pH, ARE staying in the normal range. I feel better every day and I am much happier than I ever have been my whole life.
I really need to mention again about the four essential minerals a diabetic needs:
~~jokes~~~
Many years ago a friend of mine called Joe worked in the coal mines. He would go to work early in the morning, go down the mine to the coal face and do his eight hour stint, then come back to the surface to get ready to come home. He followed this daily routine faithfully for years on end, down the mine in the morning and up at the end of his shift. Down then up, down then up. One day whilst he was at the coal face he swung his pick ax and the point went deep into a rock. He eventually managed to remove the pick ax from the rock, and as he did so he was engulfed in a deluge of water. He was absolutely drenched by the water, and his work mates remarked that he looked about 10 years younger since the water had covered him. They all tried to get soaked, and those that managed did indeed look 10 years younger. He, and those of his friends who had managed to get covered by the water, were thankful but they couldn't stop wondering why they had only been made to look 10 years younger. Why hadn't they been made to look 20 or 25 years younger than they really were?
It must be obvious that it was only a miner miracle
I had been planning this for almost a year. I had two tickets to the Rolling Stones concert at The Pond. I had slept overnight at the box-office and tickets were sold out in the first hour. I was one of the few at our school who were lucky enough to get a pair of tickets. They had cost a full month's allowance. It was my first date with Karen, the head cheerleader and the most popular girl at the school. I have had a crush on her since the sixth grade. Dad had given me the keys to his new Cantera. He had never allowed me to drive it before. Nothing could go wrong. This would be the perfect evening and hopefully the start of a long relationship. When I was about to leave, my mother called me. She had just received a frantic call from my older sister, Linda. Her car had stalled on the freeway and she was late for work. I would have to go pick her up, take her to work, and then see that her car was towed to the nearest garage. I would have to cancel my date. I immediately refused, telling Mom it was impossible for me to do that. My mother was irate. "Don't you have any sense of responsibility," she asked. "It's not that,"
I answered. . . . "I just can't be a brother and assist her."
