Leadership, what is it? First look back, yes go ahead look behind you, is there anyone following you? If so- then you are a leader. There are good leaders and bad ones.

A good leader leads by example, a good example. This is purely my opinion but a good leader is responsible, and they themselves realize that every, no I mean Every thing they do has consequences. There are no do-overs no, "Oopsies, Let me go again."

They know that good actions generally, or at least eventually produce good results. They know it's never "okay" to take something that doesn't belong to them. It's not ok to keep the extra change the clerk gives you. It's never ok to 'fudge a report' or cheat on their taxes.

If stealing and cheating is wrong, it's also wrong to lie or disrespect others; to file a false report or to tell a hurtful joke.

Just as J.C. Penney and and Leonard L.L. Bean decided that the Golden Rule was the best way to conduct business; the idea that integrity is not a 99% thing it's a 100% 365 day a week plan for good leadership.

Doing unto others as we would have them do unto us or our loved ones is the best credo for a good leader. It doesn't matter what your 'religion' or your belief-system you'll find it as a basic tenet throughout history. When people lead like that they lead to a good future for all the followers. Because a person's followers are the ones who justify what the leader's life eventually adds up to- The Legacy.

A good leader

~promotes good communication both horizontally and vertically in the organisation.
~realizes each follower is unique with different needs and different learning curves.
~Always looks for their own replacement.

When I took a leadership course there was list after list of things a leader needs to know or what they need to do and how, but I'm boiling it all down to these three,
Because to communication, realization, and promotion are the ones I want to concentrate on.

Communication:

Today we seem to be concentrating on instant forms of staying in touch, a thumb-language that shortens even the spelling and is not real communication but a mere transmission of transitory thought. There doesn't seem to be the meeting of the minds and true exchange of ideas allowed in normal discourse on a cellphone for instance.

Instead, a more effective method of communication between followers and leaders with followers, would have to be face to face in a physical space they all share. Why? I believe communication is just as non-verbal as it is verbal. Even without training we all interpret body-language viscerally. We instinctively know if someone is keeping something to themselves, we know if we are getting the whole and complete story. We do that by watching as the other speaks and watch as they listen.

~realization

When the followers are watching the leader, the Leader is watching the followers and if the leader really desires to have full victory and fruition of the goal, then the Leader must make sure each member of the organisation gains their full potential also. This means that each follower must be carefully nurtured in all of their own strengths and weaknesses to their own goals to help them excel to also help the group to flourish.

Whether the followers were chosen or chose themselves, the leader needs to honestly and properly assess the needs of each of his/her charges. [I'm not playing gender games here I'm using He to cover any leader]. Assuming a good leader has the followers with the potential for bringing the company, country, or whatever the group to the best result, He should be without pre-judging opinions to see exactly how to achieve the best to and from follower individually and fully.

~promotion

For any group to be ultimately successful it must be able to survive the loss of the leader, because the group is not the leader. We have all seen the results of not providing for the future; often chaos and not always the best leader for the group will inherit. before the Leader gives up the position he needs to make sure his replacement is properly trained and recognized by the group to be the new leader

"You can't save the world if you can't pay the rent."
- Morton Blackwell
A Leader needs to be morally responsible and fiscally reliable.

Why is good leadership, not stressed anymore?

financially profitable to dispense it."

WHAT THE WORLD NEEDS NOW IS WATER

"Pharmaceuticals, as packaged by modern medicine, are the third leading cause of death in this country... they are useless, because most of the medication they are using is to cover up symptoms and signs and complications of dehydration in the human body. The human body manifests dehydration by a series of symptoms and signs, perceptive symptoms of dehydration -- in other words, brain senses dehydration, or tiredness when you haven't done a good day's work, or first thing in the morning when you want to get up out of bed and you're tired, you can't get up -- that is a sign of dehydration. Then anger, quick reaction, depression, these are all signs of dehydration, when the brain has very little energy from hydroelectricity to cope with the information or take action. These are some of the perceptive signs of dehydration. Then the body has its drought management program, which are allergies, hypertension, diabetes, and also immune diseases." This from an interview with the world's authority on water, the Author of "The Water cure", Dr. Batmanghelidj

See the article No substitute for water

There is no substitute for water; Dr. Batmanghelidj insists all other liquids do things other than just hydrate the body. Gatorade isn't a substitute unless one just needs to add minerals lost during profuse sweating. Caffeine in soft drinks and coffee/tea will actually dehydrate your body; then the body has its drought management program, which are allergies, hypertension, diabetes, and also immune diseases.

As to being able to determine when we are thirsty
Dr. Batmanghelidj says:
"First and foremost, don't wait until you get thirsty, because that's an error. Unfortunately, the National Academy of Sciences and some other people recently have been telling people to wait until they get thirsty before they drink, which is the main error that we inherited 100 years ago from a man called Walter Bradford Cannon. And that's why, at the time, there was a Frenchman saying that dehydration or thirst is a general sensation and we should study it, and Walter Bradford Cannon said, no, thirst is only a matter of dry mouth.
When the mouth is dry we are thirsty, which is an arrogant statement, and unfortunately western medicine bought into that understanding, and that's why we have a sick-care system, because from the age of 20 onwards, we gradually, imperceptibly become dehydrated without knowing it. We lose our perception of thirst. By the age of 70 we may be totally thirsty and obviously thirsty and yet not recognize the need to drink water, even when water is put next to us.
This was done as an experiment. A scientist asked a group of elderly people to withhold from drinking water for 24 hours, and similarly with young people. After 24 hours when water was made available, the elderly did not recognize that they were thirsty."

Water and AIDS
AIDS is a metabolic problem, when the body begins to cannibalize its own tissue because of certain missing elements in the raw materials that it receives through food or beverages, and the body of a person who gets AIDS, actually, is short of quite a number of building block amino acids. They’re short of tyrosine, they’re short of methionine, cysteine, they’re short of histidine, and they’ve got a whole lot of others in excess. So how can we expect a body that depends on the other amino acids to survive?...Once again we see AIDS is a huge industry for the pharmaceutical industry...the entire existence of the pharmaceutical industry is based on presentation of false science, and advertising this false science and drumming it into the minds of gullible people who have no curiosity to find out why that is so.

Cholesterol
Dr. B: Another false science is the question of cholesterol. Cholesterol is one of the most essential elements in the survival of the human body. When the body begins to make more cholesterol, it has a reason to do that. It is certainly not to block the arteries of the heart, because we measure the level of cholesterol in the body in the blood we take out of the veins of the body, and nowhere in the history of medicine is there recorded one single case of cholesterol ever having blocked the veins of the body.
So, it is not the stickiness of the cholesterol that is the problem, which the drug industry is drumming it into the minds of people -- cholesterol is sticky, reduce it otherwise you will have blockage of your arteries, which is all nonsense. Cholesterol is actually saving the lives of people, because cholesterol is a bandage, a waterproof bandage that the body has designed. When the blood becomes concentrated and acidic, and is being rushed through constricted arteries or capillaries, in dehydration, then abrasions and tears are produced in the arterial system, naturally, in the capillaries of the heart first.
Now if cholesterol wasn’t there to cover up the tear and abrasions, blood would get under the membrane and peel it off and that person would be dead instantly. Cholesterol is actually an interim lifesaver, giving the body time to recover from its problems. We never understood this. We are knee-jerk doctors. We think that something’s up, bring it down, if something’s down, bring it up. We don’t ask questions why is it down or why is it up?... And the pharmaceutical companies know that treating cholesterol is a huge industry...

Now with the news breaking that the statin drugs are not useful at all, even the regular media is reporting it, where do we go from the dreaded Cholesterol? Maybe it would be a good idea to actually find out why we have higher or lower Cholesterol?

Two physicians board a flight out of Seattle. One sits in the window seat, the other in the middle seat. Just before take-off, an attorney sits in the seat by the aisle. The lawyer kicks off his shoes, wiggle his toes, and starts to settle in, when the physician in the window seat says, "I think I'll get up and get a coke."

"No problem," says the attorney, "I'm by the aisle. I'll get it for you."

While he's gone, one of the physicians picks up the attorney's shoe and spits in it. When he returns with the coke, the other physician says, "That looks good, I think I'll have one too."

Again, the attorney obligingly fetches the drink. While he's gone, the other physician picks up the other shoe and spits in it.

The lawyer comes back and they all sit back and enjoy the flight. As the plane is landing, however, the attorney slips his feet into his shoes and realizes immediately what has happened.

"How long must this go on?" he asks the physicians. "This fighting between our professions? This hatred? This animosity? This spitting in shoes and peeing in cokes?"

IS DHEA THE FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH?

I now have a digest version of this blog to be sent out once a week.

The link for receiving the digest is: Natural health Watchit is interactive so people can comment on the articles and help me get ideas for other articles. Or you can simply sign up by writing to me at webriter@verizon.net or mark_my_bailey@yahoo.com.

As we age we lose our ability to have maximum Adrenal gland function and the loss of this function leads to problems such as we normally see in aging.

DHEA as a precursor, stimulates the Adrenal gland to begin to release androgens and estrogens that start declining as we are in our 30's. Levels of natural DHEA are are reported to be low in some people with anorexia, end-stage kidney disease, type 2diabetes (non-insulin dependent diabetes), AIDS, adrenal insufficiency, and in the critically ill. Actually drugs like insulin, corticosteroids, opiates, and danazol will also deplete the body's natural production of Androgens and estrogens. It looks like a balancing act here, especially for diabetics.

Acne is a common reported side effect in clinical trials. The most common complaints in patients with HIV include fatigue, nasal congestion, and headache. In women, the most common side effects are abnormal menses, emotional changes, headache, and insomnia. There are rare reports of rapid/irregular heartbeats or palpitations. People taking DHEA supplements may be more prone to develop blood clots or liver damage.

Some of the uses for which DHEA has been used with various success:

Capsules/Tablets:
~Adrenal insufficiency/Addison's disease : 20-50mg doses taken daily by mouth for up to nine months

~Cardiovascular disease : 25mg daily for up to 12 weeks

~Crohn's disease/ulcerative colitis : 200 milligrams daily

~Depression : 30-90 milligrams per day

~Erectile dysfunction : 50mg daily

~Hypopituitarism : 50mg daily

~Muscle strength : 100mg daily for up to one year

~Obesity : 25-100mg daily for up to six months has been used

~Osteoporosis : 5-200mg daily has been used for three months.

~Schizophrenia : Up to 100mg daily for six weeks has been used.

~Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE): 20-200mg daily DHEA has been used for up to one year

Intravenous:

~Dementia (multi-infarct) : 200 milligrams of DHEA daily has been studied for multi-infarct dementia given intravenously. Safety is not established.

~Induction of labor : 10mg intravenously has been used, twice weekly after 38 weeks gestation until onset of labor.

Cream:

~Menopausal symptoms : A 10 percent cream rubbed over a 20-centimeter by 20-centimeter area on both thighs once daily has been used for vaginal discomfort associated with menopause.

~Skin aging : DHEA (5%) in ethanol:olive oil (1:2) was topically applied to buttock skin of volunteers 12 times over 4 weeks to help with skin aging in one study.

~Vaginal atrophy : 10% cream, applied to 20x20cm area on both thighs once daily has been used.

The Mayo clinic assigns the following grades to the efficasy of DHEA for the following reasons:
Adrenal insufficiency -B, Depression -B, Obesity-B, Systemic lupus erythematosus -B,
Alzheimer's disease -C, Bone density -C, Cardiovascular disease -C, Cervical cancer-C, Chronic fatigue syndrome -C, Cocaine withdrawal -C, Critical illness -C, Crohn's disease -C, HIV/AIDS -C, Menopausal disorders -C, Induction of labor -C, Infertility -C, Myotonic dystrophy -C, Psoriasis -C, Rheumatoid arthritis -C,
Schizophrenia -C, Septicemia-C, Sexual function / libido / erectile dysfunction-C,
Sjogren's syndrome -C, Skin aging -C, Fibromyalgia-D, Immune system stimulant -D,
Memory -D, Muscle strength -D,
explanation of grading: ~B Good scientific evidence for this use
~C Unclear scientific evidence for this use
~D Fair scientific evidence against this use (it may not work).

Check the source of this information of this information-the flagship of all Allopathic medicine-The Mayo Clinic.... Allopaths always think drugs work best.

However:I have seen Schizophrenics on drugs, not much help there, Also I've seen how helpful the very expensive treatments for Psoriasis are,* Not very*, so if these two examples are any indication a grade of B or C is so much better than the help you can get from conventional medicine. If the Mayo Clinic gives even grudging credit to DHEA it must have some benefit.

One word of caution/information however while wild yams are the source of DHEA the body can't just take wild yams and make useable DHEA from wild yams, it must be synthesized to function. From all the reasearch I've see this does seem t be the case.

Dr. Ray Salahian who has his own formulation of DHEA says "DO NOT TRUST ANYONE - NO MATTER WHAT THEIR CREDENTIALS - WHO SAYS A DHEA SUPPLEMENT IS SAFE IN HIGH DOSES WHEN TAKEN FOR PROLONGED PERIODS. Without a doubt, high doses of DHEA have side effects, sometimes quite serious.".

I've given you the gist of what I've found, please check out the sources for yourself and make up your own mind.

Just Stay

A nurse took the tired, anxious serviceman to the bedside.

"Your son is here," she said to the old man.

She had to repeat the words several times before the patient's eyes opened.

Heavily sedated because of the pain of his heart attack, he dimly saw the young uniformed Marine standing outside the oxygen tent. He reached out his hand. The Marine wrapped his toughened fingers around the old man's limp ones, squeezing a message of love and encouragement.

The nurse brought a chair so that the Marine could sit beside the bed.All through the night the young Marine sat there in the poorly lighted ward, holding the old man's hand and offering him words of love and strength. Occasionally, the nurse suggested that the Marine move away and rest awhile.

He refused. Whenever the nurse came into the ward, the Marine was oblivious of her and of the night noises of the hospital - the clanking of the oxygen tank, the laughter of the night staff members exchanging greetings, the cries and moans of the other patients.

Now and then she heard him say a few gentle words. The dying man said nothing, only held tightly to his son all through the night.

Along towards dawn, the old man died. The Marine released the now lifeless hand he had been holding and went to tell the nurse. While she did what she had to do, he waited.

Finally, she returned. She started to offer words of sympathy, but the Marine interrupted her.

"Who was that man?" he asked.

The nurse was startled, "He was your father," she answered.

"No, he wasn't," the Marine replied. "I never saw him before in my life."

"Then why didn't you say something when I took you to him?"

"I knew right away there had been a mistake,

but I also knew he needed his son, and his
son just wasn't here.

When I realized that he was too sick to tell

whether or not I was his son,

knowing how much he needed me, I stayed."

The next time someone needs you ... just be there. Stay.

"I need a list of your employees and how much you pay them," demanded the

"That's the guy I want to talk to --- the half-wit," says the agent.
"That would be me," replied the farmer.

ESSENTIAL FATTY ACIDS,OMEGAS, SATURATED FATS

Why do "healthy" people die of heart attacks?
(1)

... the culprit is a fatty acid!
...The killer fatty acid is called non-esterified fatty acid, or NEFA for short; if you consume too many omega-6 fats and not enough omega-3 fats, you can end up with all sorts of health problems. But now we know there's a more immediate problem with omega-6 fats: when they're converted to too much NEFA, it can result in a sudden heart attack!...
Taking carnitine and fish oil can stop NEFA and save your life. But there are so many more things you can do... There are safe, natural, inexpensive ways to lower your triclycerides, fibrinogen, homocysteine, and more...You can get these omega-3s by eating walnuts, flaxseeds, leaf lettuce, and cold-water fish. Be careful with the fish, though. Much of it is tainted with mercury and PCBs. The safest bet is to eat wild salmon from Alaska

After all, even the American Heart Association agrees that Omega 3 fatty acids can help...

Promote healthy heart functions...
Maintain healthy cholesterol levels...
Keep your blood pressure right where it's supposed to be...
Support a healthy cardiovascular system...

Cayenne and cinnamon help to thin the blood and heat us up too, but you could try this instead:Chocolate and turmeric. Not since the love story of Shah Jahan and his beloved Mumtal, for whom he constructed the Taj Mahal, has such an intriguing union come out of India. Before you quickly dismiss it as too strange for your taste buds, consider this: India boasts a much lower-than-average incidence of age-related memory decline, and health experts are attributing it to the abundant use of turmeric in their cuisine. The health benefits don’t stop at the top, either. Trickling all the way down to the very tips of your toes, fragrant turmeric promotes healthy circulation and antioxidant protection for every one of the cells, while simultaneously warming and soothing the joints. With such compelling facts as these, the wise course for each one of us is to look for creative ways to incorporate more of it into the diet.
This month we’re taking the chill out of winter by turning up the heat on hot cocoa, In the South American tradition of mixing the cacao bean with hot spices.

Deficiencies in EFAs can lead to reduced growth, a scaly rash called dermatitis, infertility, and lack of ability to fight infection and heal wounds. Lack of omega-6 fatty acids, however, is extremely rare in diets of those living in certain Western countries, particularly the United States, as well as Israel. In fact, North American and Israeli diets tend to have too much omega-6, particularly in relation to omega-3 fatty acids. This imbalance contributes to long-term diseases such as heart disease, cancer, asthma, arthritis, and depression. A healthy diet should consist of roughly one omega-3 fatty acids to four omega-6 fatty acids. A typical American diet, however, tends to contain 11 to 30 times more omega-6 than omega-3 fatty acids.
In contrast, a Mediterranean diet is made up of a healthier and more appropriate balance between omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. The Mediterranean diet includes a generous amount of whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables, fish, olive oil, and garlic; plus, there is little meat, which is high in omega-6 fatty acids.
There are several different types of omega-6 fatty acids. Most omega-6 fatty acids are consumed in the diet from vegetable oils as linoleic acid (LA; be careful not to confuse this with alpha-linolenic acid [ALA] which is an omega-3 fatty acid). Linoleic acid is converted to gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) in the body and then further broken down to arachidonic acid (AA). AA can also be consumed directly from meat, and GLA can be ingested from several plant-based oils including evening primrose oil (EPO), borage oil, and black currant seed oil.

A better balance of Omega-3 and Omega-6 should be four[even five]-to-one
Currently in our modern diets:
(4)

It is estimated that in the current average western diet this ratio lies at 20 'Omega 6' :1 'Omega 3' or five times more Omega 6 than there should be. The proportion of Omega 6 is provided in the form of linoleic acid from cooking oils and vegetable margarine usually made from safflower, sunflower, corn or soyabeans. This is not to say that we all eat too much Omega 6 - many people are believed to be deficient in Omega 6, especially if they have not converted to using vegetable oils or margarine instead of the dairy alternatives.* see note below

*NOTE: I do not recommend the use of any cooking oils, if you must use an oil, use coconut oil, all others become toxic when heated, THAT INCLUDES OLIVE OIL, use only uncooked olive oils. [actually olive oil and garlic on salad is very healthy]

Too much animal fats, polyunsaturated and trans fats lead to illnesses that doctors prescribe drugs for, which often make the situation so much worse.

excessive levels of Omega 3 may reduce blood clotting time
excessive levels of Omega 6 increases the risk of Coronary Heart Disease (CHD).

So moderation and balance is Key! Eat healthy, raw locally grown whole fods and non-medicated range-fed meats, lots of healthy pure water and you will be so healthy!

I try to be a good father. Give my kids mulligans. Work nights to pay for their text messaging. Take them to swimsuit shoots.

But compared with Dick Hoyt, I'm lousy.

Eighty-five times he's pushed his disabled son, Rick, 26.2 miles in marathons. Eight times he's not only pushed him 26.2 miles in a wheelchair but also towed him 2.4 miles in a dinghy while swimming and pedaled him 112 miles in a seat on the handlebars -- all in the same day.

Dick's also pulled him cross-country skiing, taken him on his back mountain climbing and once hauled him across the U.S.on a bike. Makes taking your son bowling look a little lame, right?

And what has Rick done for his father? Not much -- except save his life.

This love story began in Winchester , Mass. , 43 years ago, when Rick was strangled by the umbilical cord during birth, leaving him brain-damaged and unable to control his limbs.

"He'll be a vegetable the rest of his life," Dick says doctors told him and his wife, Judy, when Rick was nine months old. "Put him in an institution."

But the Hoyts weren't buying it. They noticed the way Rick's eyes followed them around the room. When Rick was 11 they took him to the engineering department at TuftsUniversityand asked if there was anything to help the boy communicate. "No way," Dick says he was told. "There's nothing going on in his brain."

"Tell him a joke," Dick countered. They did. Rick laughed. Turns out a lot was going on in his brain.

Rigged up with a computer that allowed him to control the cursor by touching a switch with the side of his head, Rick was finally able to communicate. First words? "Go Bruins!" And after a high school classmate was paralyzed in an accident and the school organized a charity run for him, Rick pecked out, "Dad, I want to do that."

Yeah, right. How was Dick, a self-described "porker" who never ran more than a mile at a time, going to push his son five miles? Still, he tried. "Then it was me who was handicapped," Dick says. "I was sore for two weeks."

That day changed Rick's life. "Dad," he typed, "when we were running, it felt like I wasn't disabled anymore!"

And that sentence changed Dick's life. He became obsessed with giving Rick that feeling as often as he could. He got into such hard-belly shape that he and Rick were ready to try the 1979 Boston Marathon.

"No way," Dick was told by a race official. The Hoyts weren't quite a single runner, and they weren't quite a wheelchair competitor. For a few years Dick and Rick just joined the massive field and ran anyway, then they found a way to get into the race officially: In 1983 they ran another marathon so fast they made the qualifying time for Boston the following year.

Then somebody said, "Hey, Dick, why not a triathlon?"

How's a guy who never learned to swim and hadn't ridden a bike since he was six going to haul his 110-pound kid through a triathlon? Still, Dick tried.

Now they've done 212 triathlons, including four grueling 15-hour Ironmans inHawaii . It must be a buzzkill to be a 25-year-old stud getting passed by an old guy towing a grown man in a dinghy, don't you think?

Hey, Dick, why not see how you'd do on your own? "No way," he says. Dick does it purely for "the awesome feeling" he gets seeing Rick with a cantaloupe smile as they run, swim and ride together.

This year, at ages 65 and 43, Dick and Rick finished their 24th Boston Marathon, in 5,083rd place out of more than 20,000 starters. Their best time? Two hours, 40 minutes in 1992 -- only 35 minutes off the world record, which, in case you don't keep track of these things, happens to be held by a guy who was not pushing another man in a wheelchair at the time.

"No question about it," Rick types. "My dad is the Father of the Century."

And Dick got something else out of all this too. Two years ago he had a mild heart attack during a race. Doctors found that one of his arteries was 95% clogged. "If you hadn't been in such great shape," one doctor told him, "you probably would've died 15 years ago."

So, in a way, Dick and Rick saved each other's life.

Rick, who has his own apartment (he gets home care) and works in Boston , and Dick, retired from the military and living in Holland , Mass. , always find ways to be together. They give speeches around the country and compete in some backbreaking race every weekend, including this Father's Day.

That night, Rick will buy his dad dinner, but the thing he really wants to give him is a gift he can never buy.

"The thing I'd most like," Rick types, "is that my dad sit in the chair and I push him once."

Bubba Had Shingles
Those of us who spend much time in a doctor's office should appreciate this! Doesn't it seem more and more that physicians are running their practices like an assembly line? Here's what happened to Bubba:
Bubba walked into a doctor's office and the receptionist asked him what he had. Bubba said: 'Shingles.' So she wrote down his name, address, medical insurance number and told him to have a seat.
Fifteen minutes later a nurse's aide came out and asked Bubba what he had.
Bubba said, 'Shingles.' So she wrote down his height, weight, a complete medical histor y and told Bubba to wait in the examining room.
A half hour later a nurse came in and asked Bubba what he had. Bubba said, 'Shingles.' So the nurse gave Bubba a blood test, a blood pressure test, an electrocardiogram, and told Bubba to take off all his clothes and wait for the doctor.
An hour later the doctor came in and found Bubba sitting patiently in the nude and asked Bubba what he had. Bubba said, 'Shingles.' The doctor asked, 'Where?'
Bubba said, 'Outside on the truck. Where do you want me to unload 'em??'

WHEN I'M 100, IF I LEAN A LITTLE, LET ME!

The family wheeled Grandma out on the lawn, in her wheelchair, where the activities for her 100th birthday were taking place. Grandma couldn't speak very well, but she could write notes when she needed to communicate.

After a short time out on the lawn, Grandma started leaning off to the right, so some family members grabbed her, straightened her up, and stuffed pillows on her right.

A short time later, she started leaning off to her left, so again the family grabbed her and stuffed pillows on her left.

Soon she started leaning forward, so the family members again grabbed her and then tied a pillowcase around her waist to hold her up.

A grandson, who arrived late, came up to Grandma and said, "Hi, Grandma, you're looking good! How are they treating
you?"

Grandma took out her little notepad and slowly wrote a note to the nephew...

"They won't let me fart "

WE NEED WATER AND SALT

"All living things utilize water and salt for life. The body is under a strong constant compunction to retain salt keeping water inside the systems." In fact the heart is mostly composed of water.
(1)
Oxygen, water, and salt are the most crucial elements the human body requires for survival. Without adequate supplies in every cell, serious health problems will result, ultimately leading to death. Dehydration and salt deficiency are the two leading causes of virtually all the diseases afflicting mankind. Sadly, because of profit motives, medical doctors treat these symptoms with drugs that cause further problems, instead of giving patients what the body really needs – Water & Salt.
When it comes to maintaining your health or restoring lost health, water and salt are the least expensive, most beneficial elements you can put into your body. People spend thousands and thousands of dollars on expensive drugs and nutritional supplements that don’t do anything to hydrate the body, or supply salt containing vital trace minerals needed for survival. All living things utilize water and salt for life. The body is under a constant drive to retain salt to keep water inside the system. In the book, Water & Salt – The Essence of Life, it discusses the important role salt plays in the functioning of every cell:
“Transformability of salt is very important for our body because it is the foundation of our cell metabolism. The life-giving principle of metabolism in all living beings is osmosis, when liquids transfer from one cell to another. This process of osmosis is managed by the salt concentration in the cells. The liquid in a cell always moves from a cell with a lower salt concentration (potential) to a cell with a higher salt concentration (potential), because the cell membranes are permeable for water but not for salt and the body always strives to achieve a balance in concentration.”

The body's salt/water ratio is critical to metabolism. The National Academy of Sciences recommends that Americans consume a minimum of 500 mg/day of sodium to maintain good health. Of course an individual's needs vary from person to person, day to day. Water and salt can go to toxic levels if taken to excess but most of us haven't anything to worry about on a normal basis.

I definitely recommend not eating table salt, I prefer sea salt to the aluminum-laden table salt see blood pressure solutions

(2)
For 4,000 years, we have known that salt intakes can affect blood pressure through signals to the muscles of blood vessels trying to maintain blood pressure within a proper range. We know that a minority of the population can lower blood pressure by restricting dietary salt. And we know that elevated blood pressure, “hypertension,” is a well-documented marker or “risk factor” for cardiovascular events like heart attacks and strokes, a “silent killer.” Cardiovascular events are a major cause of “premature” death and cost Americans more than $300 billion every year in increased medical costs and lost productivity. Reducing blood pressure can reduce the risk of a heart attack or stroke – depending on how it’s done.

(3)
Water makes up more than two thirds of the weight of the human body, and without it, humans would die in a few days. The human brain is made up of 95% water, blood is 82% and lungs 90%. A mere 2% drop in our body's water supply can trigger signs of dehydration: fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on smaller print, such as a computer screen. (Are you having trouble reading this? Drink up!) Mild dehydration is also one of the most common causes of daytime fatigue. An estimated seventy-five percent of Americans have mild, chronic dehydration. Pretty scary statistic for a developed country, where water is readily available through the tap or bottle.
Water is important to the mechanics of the human body. The body cannot work without it, just as a car cannot run without gas and oil. In fact, all the cell and organ functions made up in our entire anatomy and physiology depend on water for their functioning.
~Water serves as a lubricant
~Water forms the base for saliva
~Water forms the fluids that surround the joints.
~Water regulates the body temperature, as the cooling and heating is distributed through perspiration.
~Water helps to alleviate constipation by moving food through the intestinal tract and thereby eliminating waste- the best detox agent.
~Regulates metabolism
In addition to the daily maintenance of our bodies, water also plays a key role in the prevention of disease. Drinking eight glasses of water daily can decrease the risk of colon cancer by 45%, bladder cancer by 50% and it can potentially even reduce the risk of breast cancer. And those are just a few examples! As you follow other links on our website, you can read more in depth about how water can aid in the prevention and cure of many types of diseases, ailments and disorders that affect the many systems of our bodies.

The Mayo clinic says:
(4)
Lack of water can lead to dehydration, a condition that occurs when you don't have enough water in your body to carry out normal functions.
How much water do you need?
Every day you lose water through your breath, perspiration, urine and bowel movements. For your body to function properly, you must replenish its water supply by consuming beverages and foods that contain water.
A couple of approaches attempt to approximate water needs for the average, healthy adult living in a temperate climate.
Replacement approach. The average urine output for adults is 1.5 liters a day. You lose close to an additional liter of water a day through breathing, sweating and bowel movements. Food usually accounts for 20 percent of your total fluid intake, so if you consume 2 liters of water or other beverages a day (a little more than 8 cups) along with your normal diet, you will typically replace the lost fluids.
Dietary recommendations. The Institute of Medicine advises that men consume roughly 3.0 liters (about 13 cups) of total beverages a day and women consume 2.2 liters (about 9 cups) of total beverages a day.
Even apart from the above approaches, it is generally the case that if you drink enough fluid so that you rarely feel thirsty and produce between one and two liters of colorless or slightly yellow urine a day, your fluid intake is probably adequate.

(5)
dehydration produces stress, chronic pains and many degenerative diseases. Dry mouth is not the only sign of dehydration and waiting to get thirsty is wrong. Medicine has based its understanding that it is solid matter in the body that regulates all functions of the body. I have explained scientifically at the molecular level that it is water that regulates all functions of the body including functions of solid matter. 75 % of our bodies are composed of water. The brain is 85% water. It is water that energizes and activates the solid matter. If you don’t take enough water, some functions of the body will suffer. Dehydration produces system disturbances. When I use the word water cure, I am referring to curing dehydration with water."Fereydoon Batmanghelidj, M.D.

So, Good clean water, and yes, I do not recommend drinking any tap water, and sea salt are essential to good health.

It's a bad one. Both of their cars are totally demolished but amazingly neither of them are hurt.
After they crawl out of their cars, the woman says, "So you're a man, that's interesting. I'm a woman. Wow, just look at our cars! There nothing left but fortunately we are unhurt.
"This must be a sign from God that we should meet and be friends and live together in peace for the rest of our days."

The woman continued, "And look at this, here's another miracle. My car is completely demolished, but this bottle of wine didn't break! Sure God wants us to drink this wine and celebrate our good fortune."
The she hands the bottle to the man. The man nods his head in agreement, opens it and drinks half the bottle, and then hands it back to the woman.

FATS- THE LIE-THE TRUTH

Today a simple over view in the future "I want to go more in depth on the different omega fats.

I was watching a show on BBC where a cross and kind of nasty older lady was castigating a teenager for the fat intake she regularly ingested. I have to agree that fast foods are not healthy, they are full of High Fructose Corn Syrup, MSG, White flour and trans fats... It wasn't those things the woman was railing at. It was the saturated fats.

First, I'm against backing people into a corner and trying to humiliating them into making changes. Then there is the wealth of misinformation broadcasted.

Fat is bad: BAD, BAD,BAD right? And it fills your arteries with that same white badity badness that you see in a frying pan after it cools off, Right? Whoa there pardner, that may not be the whole story.

(1)
Saturated fats from animal and vegetable sources provide a concentrated source of energy in the diet; they also provide the building blocks for cell membranes and a variety of hormones and hormonelike substances. Fats as part of a meal slow down absorption so that we can go longer without feeling hungry. In addition, they act as carriers for important fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E and K. Dietary fats are needed for the conversion of carotene to vitamin A, for mineral absorption and for a host of other processes.

(2)
No offense, but you have a fat head! About two-thirds of your brain is composed of fats. But not just any kind.
Your brain cells require very specialized fats – the same ones that built the brains of your prehistoric ancestors and enabled them to learn and evolve at such a fast rate. These same fats are even now being incorporated into the very structure of your brain.
Membranes – the Working Surface of Your Brain is Made from Fatty Acids
The membranes of neurons – the specialized brain cells that communicate with each other – are composed of a thin double-layer of fatty acid molecules. Fatty acids are what dietary fats are composed of. When you digest the fat in your food, it is broken down into fatty acid molecules of various lengths. Your brain then uses these for raw materials to assemble the special types of fat it incorporates into its cell membranes.
Passing through a cell's membrane into its cell's interior are oxygen, glucose (blood sugar), and the micronutrients the cell needs to function. Metabolic waste products must exit, so the cell won't be impaired by its own pollution.
Myelin, the protective sheath that covers communicating neurons, is composed of 30% protein and 70% fat. One of the most common fatty acids in myelin is oleic acid, which is also the most abundant fatty acid in human milk and in our diet.
Monosaturated oleic acid is the main component of olive oil as well as the oils from almonds, pecans, macadamias, peanuts, and avocados.

(1)
Politically Correct Nutrition is based on the assumption that we should reduce our intake of fats, particularly saturated fats from animal sources. Fats from animal sources also contain cholesterol, presented as the twin villain of the civilized diet.

The Lipid Hypothesis
The theory—called the lipid hypothesis—that there is a direct relationship between the amount of saturated fat and cholesterol in the diet and the incidence of coronary heart disease was proposed by a researcher named Ancel Keys in the late 1950’s. Numerous subsequent studies have questioned his data and conclusions. Nevertheless, Keys’ articles received far more publicity than those presenting alternate views. The vegetable oil and food processing industries, the main beneficiaries of any research that found fault with competing traditional foods, began promoting and funding further research designed to support the lipid hypothesis.
The most well-known advocate of the lowfat diet was Nathan Pritikin. Actually, Pritikin advocated elimination of sugar, white flour and all processed foods from the diet and recommended the use of fresh raw foods, whole grains and a strenuous exercise program; but it was the lowfat aspects of his regime that received the most attention in the media. Adherents found that they lost weight and that their blood cholesterol levels and blood pressure declined. The success of the Pritikin diet was probably due to a number of factors having nothing to do with reduction in dietary fat—weight loss alone, for example, will precipitate a reduction in blood cholesterol levels—but Pritikin soon found that the fat-free diet presented many problems, not the least of which was the fact that people just could not stay on it. Those who possessed enough will power to remain fat-free for any length of time developed a variety of health problems including low energy, difficulty in concentration, depression, weight gain and mineral deficiencies. Pritikin may have saved himself from heart disease but his lowfat diet did not spare him from cancer. He died, in the prime of life, of suicide when he realized that his Spartan regime was not curing his leukemia. We shouldn’t have to die of either heart disease or cancer—or consume a diet that makes us depressed.

WELL SO MUCH FOR THAT. Let's see; eating a healthy balanced diet of fresh whole foods helps us to lose weight and feel great, Where's the downside? Soon I'll write on the balances between the Omega 3 essential fatty acids and Omega-6.

The Emperor's Seed

Once there was an emperor in the Far East who was growing old and knew it was coming time to choose his successor. Instead of choosing one of his assistants or one of his own children, he decided to do something different.

He called all the young people in the kingdom together one day. He said, "It has come time for me to step down and to choose the next emperor. I have decided to choose one of you." The kids were shocked! But the emperor continued. "I am going to give each one of you a seed today. One seed. It is a very special seed. I want you to go home, plant the seed, water it and come back here one year from today with what you have grown from this one seed. I will then judge the plants that you bring to me, and the one I choose will be the next emperor of the kingdom!"

There was one boy named Ling who was there that day and he, like the others, received a seed. He went home and excitedly told his mother the whole story. She helped him get a pot and some planting soil, and he planted the seed and watered it carefully. Every day he would water it and watch to see if it had grown.

After about three weeks, some of the other youths began to talk about their seeds and the plants that were beginning to grow. Ling kept going home and checking his seed, but nothing ever grew. Three weeks, four weeks, five weeks went by. Still nothing.

By now others were talking about their plants but Ling didn't have a plant, and he felt like a failure. Six months went by, still nothing in Ling's pot. He just knew he had killed his seed. Everyone else had trees and tall plants, but he had nothing. Ling didn't say anything to his friends, however. He just kept waiting for his seed to grow.

A year finally went by and all the youths of the kingdom brought their plants to the emperor for inspection. Ling told his mother that he wasn't going to take an empty pot. But she encouraged him to go, and to take his pot, and to be honest about what happened. Ling felt sick to his stomach, but he knew his mother was right. He took his empty pot to the palace.

When Ling arrived, he was amazed at the variety of plants grown by all the other youths. They were beautiful, in all shapes and sizes. Ling put his empty pot on the floor and many of the other kinds laughed at him. A few felt sorry for him and just said, "Hey, nice try."

When the emperor arrived, he surveyed the room and greeted the young people. Ling just tried to hide in the back. "My, what great plants, trees and flowers you have grown," said the emperor. "Today, one of you will be appointed the next emperor!"

All of a sudden, the emperor spotted Ling at the back of the room with his empty pot. He ordered his guards to bring him to the front. Ling was terrified. "The emperor knows I'm a failure! Maybe he will have me killed!"

When Ling got to the front, the Emperor asked his name. "My name is Ling," he replied. All the kids were laughing and making fun of him. The emperor asked everyone to quiet down. He looked at Ling, and then announced to the crowd, "Behold your new emperor! His name is Ling!" Ling couldn't believe it. Ling couldn't even grow his seed. How could he be the new emperor?

Then the emperor said, "One year ago today, I gave everyone here a seed. I told you to take the seed, plant it, water it, and bring it back to me today. But I gave you all boiled seeds which would not grow. All of you, except Ling, have brought me trees and plants and flowers. When you found that the seed would not grow, you substituted another seed for the one I gave you. Ling was the only one with the courage and honesty to bring me a pot with my seed in it. Therefore, he is the one who will be the new emperor!"

God is sitting in Heaven when a scientist says to Him, "Lord,
we don't need you any more. Science has finally figured out a way to create life out of nothing. In other words, we can now do what you did in the 'beginning.'"
"Oh, is that so? Tell me..." replies God.
"Well," says the scientist, "we can take dirt and form it into
the likeness of You and breathe life into it, thus creating man."
"Well, that's interesting. Show Me."
So the scientist bends down to the earth and starts to mold the
soil.
"Oh no,no, no..." interrupts God,"Make your own dirt first."

MY KIND OF EXERCISE;

You might wish to adopt this regimen. Three days a week works well.
You start by standing outside behind the house and, with a 5-pound potato sack in each hand, extend your arms straight out to your sides and hold them there as long as you can. After a few weeks, move up to 10-pound potato sacks, then 50-pound potato sacks and finally you should be able to lift a 100-pound potato sack in each hand and hold your arms straight out for more than a full minute!
After a week or so you can start putting a few potatoes in the sacks, but don't overdo it at this level!

In the courtroom where I worked as a court reporter, a dentist was called as a witness. He took the oath a few feet from my desk, and I noticed his upraised arm was trembling, apparently from nervousness. After he finished, I couldn't resist saying softly, "Sit down, Doctor. This won't hurt a bit."

ORGANIC-WHAT IS IT?

We always hear that buying organic is best; what is organic, and how can you know if something we buy is really organic, especially since we've all seen the headlines proclaiming the abuses from food and beauty products being falsely labeled organic?

Of course all of our food is basically organic, it is carbon-based and was once alive. That makes it organic, but what is the labeling "organic"?

(1)
The USDA National Organic Program (NOP) defines organic as follows:
Organic food is produced by farmers who emphasize the use of renewable resources and the conservation of soil and water to enhance environmental quality for future generations. Organic meat, poultry, eggs, and dairy products come from animals that are given no antibiotics or growth hormones. Organic food is produced without using most conventional pesticides; fertilizers made with synthetic ingredients or sewage sludge; bioengineering; or ionizing radiation. Before a product can be labeled "organic," a Government-approved certifier inspects the farm where the food is grown to make sure the farmer is following all the rules necessary to meet USDA organic standards. Companies that handle or process organic food before it gets to your local supermarket or restaurant must be certified, too.

From the FDA:
(2)
All agricultural products labeled organic must originate from farms or handling operations certified by a state or private agency accredited by USDA. Farms and handling operations that sell less than $5,000 worth per year of organic agricultural products are exempt from certification. Farmers and handlers have 18 months to comply with the national standards.

But "organic" doesn't always mean grown naturally:
(3)
USDA regulations prohibit the use of toxic synthetic pesticides and fertilizers, irradiation, sewage sludge and genetic engineering in anything labeled organic. Farmers are also required to pasture livestock, refrain from treating them with antibiotics and hormones and sustain them only with organic food.
Though these standards work well most of the time, not everybody is playing by the rules. “Ninety-nine percent of the organic market is clean,” said Minowa. “(But) there are a few abusers out there.” Unfortunately, it is those few companies that could have an impact on how well the organic standards are followed.
In 2006, the Organic Consumer’s Association boycotted the “shameless seven,” organic suppliers using practices that don’t conform to organic standards. Minowa said that the abuse of standards happens because there’s a breakdown occurring at the national level, where key decision makers are dragging their feet on closing organic standard loopholes.
One loophole is vague as to what qualifies as pasture, or the period cows should be allowed access to pasture. Under the current regulations, a short walk from a confined feeding area to the loading trucks could be counted as access. Brands such as Horizon and Aurora, two major producers of organic dairy products, are taking advantage of vague standards that apply to organic dairy, Minowa said. They sell milk labeled USDA Organic to consumers even though some or all of their milk is coming from factory farm feedlots where animals do not have proper access to pasture...{Also]Though organic food is typically more expensive than conventional food, major chains like Wal-Mart are offering organic foods at prices much lower than found in specialty stores. Wal-Mart is able to do this through economies of scale, but another tactic the big-box retailer uses is to purchase organic food from abroad. Minowa explained that it is not that U.S. farmers aren’t able to meet the growing demands of the organic food market, but that those who want to sell organic food at a bargain price can get it cheaper elsewhere.
Cheaper prices mean more people buy organic food, but organic food producers from other countries may not always abide by U.S. standards, said Betty Kanane, president of the Global Organics Alliance, a third party certifier of domestic organic foods.
Recently, investigations have been launched into companies that claim the food they have imported from China is organic when it isn’t, according to Andy LeVoir, produce manager of the East Lansing Food Co-op.

Organic Fraud: Wal-Mart Stores Inc. Accused of Widespread Distortion
Nonorganic Food Products Misidentified as “Organic”
Contact: Mark Kastel, 608-625-2042
CORNUCOPIA, WI: When the staff at The Cornucopia Institute surveyed Wal-Mart stores around the country last September, analyzing the giant retailer’s pronouncement that they would begin selling a wide variety of organic food at just a 10% mark-up over similar conventional products, they were surprised to discover widespread problems with signage misrepresenting nonorganic food as “organic.”
Now, Cornucopia, one of the country’s most prominent organic watchdogs is even more surprised that more than four months after informing the company of the problems, which could be interpreted as consumer fraud, and two months after filing a formal legal complaint with the USDA, the federal agency regulating organic labeling, many of the deceptive signs at Wal-Mart stores are still in place.
“It is unconscionable that rather than correct these problems, Wal-Mart Stores Inc. instead responded to our concerns by attacking our comparatively modest public interest group in an effort to discredit our organization in the media,” said Mark Kastel, codirector of the Wisconsin-based Institute. “It is not as if a product recall or store remodeling would have been required to correct Wal-Mart’s deceptive consumer practices. They could have simply sent out an e-mail to store managers and corrected the problem instantly.” see: http://cornucopia.org/index.php/mislabeling-organic-food-at-wal-mart/ to see pictures of falsly labeled foods sold at Wa-mart-SHAME ON YOU WAL-MART!

(5)
Consumer Tip: The word "organic" is not as carefully regulated on personal care products (example: toothpaste, shampoo, lotion, makeup, etc.) as it is on food products-- UNLESS you see the "USDA Organic" seal. Only then do you know that the product has met the stringent federal organic regulations.

If the product does not have the seal and claims to be organic, it may have some organic ingredients, but it also likely has many nonorganic and synthetic ingredients. Our first piece of advice is to look for the USDA Organic seal. If you don't see that, be sure to read the ingredient label before purchasing.

"Organic" and genetically modified foods
(5)
Five of the twelve companies stated that the provisions they take to ensure their suppliers are not mixing genetically altered soybeans with ordinary soybeans is that they buy third party certified organic beans. Third party certification is when an independent agent inspects the farm and grounds. The farmer keeps records and a fee is paid for inspection. Certification is done by an agent who has been accredited by a certification agency. Two representatives stated that they receive written confirmation from their suppliers that they are not using GMOs. A general feeling of trust for growers and suppliers was expressed. Several companies said that they had worked with their suppliers for 15 to 20 years and felt they were similarly against genetically engineered foods.
Other companies (such as Wor-thington Foods) are either knowingly using genetically engineered soybeans or are using possibly tainted beans. The representative from Tofutti Brands, Inc. argued it was getting more difficult to secure their sources as GMOs are in widespread use. He said that GMOs are also very cost effective and that companies engineering them “drive everyone else out of business.”
