MORE THINGS TO AVOID

Olestra

A fake fat recently approved by the FDA, over the objections of dozens of leading physicians.

(1)
The additive may be fat-free but it has a fatal side-effect: it attaches to valuable nutrients and flushes them out of the body. Some of these nutrients -- called arytenoids -- appear to protect us from such diseases as lung cancer, prostate cancer, heart disease, and macular degeneration. The Harvard School of Public Health states "the long-term consumption of olestra snack foods might therefore result in several thousand unnecessary deaths each year from lung and, prostate cancers and heart disease, and hundreds of additional cases of blindness in the elderly due to macular degeneration. Besides contributing to disease, olestra causes diarrhea and other serious gastrointestinal problems, even at low doses."

FDA certified olestra despite the fact that there are safe low-fat snacks already on the market. There is no evidence to show that olestra will have any significant effect on reducing obesity in America.

Despite being approved as safe by the FDA, all snacks containing olestra must carry a warning label (similar to one found on cigarettes) that states:

This Product Contains Olestra. Olestra may cause abdominal cramping and loose stools. Olestra inhibits the absorption of some vitamins and other nutrients. Vitamins A, D, E, and K have been added.

(2)
Olestra also raced through subjects so quickly in some test cases, according to Procter and Gamble's data, that it resulted in "anal leakage," diarrhea and underwear stains. It also takes hostages: Olestra removes significant amounts of fat-soluble vitamins and arytenoids (nutrients that may reduce the chances of cancer and heart disease) from the digestive tract

(3)"Olestra has also has caused problems ranging from gas to bloody stools to cramps so severe that they had to go to the emergency room."

One of the vitamins that olestra eliminates in our digestive system is Vitamin A, or arytenoids

(4)
Arytenoids are natural fat-soluble pigments found in certain plants. Arytenoids provide the bright red, orange, or yellow coloration of many vegetables, serve as antioxidants, and can be a source for vitamin A activity. There are more than 600 known natural arytenoids, all of them synthesized only in plants. Arytenoids may be classified as hydrocarbon carotenes or
xanthophylls, which are oxygenated derivatives of carotenes. Representative examples of carotenes include β-carotene, alpha-carotene, and lycopene. Examples of xanthophylls include lutein, astaxanthin, canthaxanthin, zeaxanthin, and capsorubin. Lycopene, lutein, zeaxanthin, phytoene, phytofluene and beta-carotene belong to this family. Arytenoids are antioxidants. They play an important role in health maintenance by helping to reduce the impact and minimize the oxidative damage caused by surplus free radicals...

Arytenoids are very important for health. The health benefits of arytenoids in the human diet are becoming increasingly apparent. There've been studies suggest that some arytenoids can offer protection against some cancers, macular eye disease and
Cardiovascular problems. A higher dietary intake of arytenoids offers protection against developing certain cancers (e.g., lung, skin, uterine, cervix, gastrointestinal tract), macular degeneration, cataracts, and other health conditions linked to oxidative or free radical damage. In addition to being antioxidants, arytenoids also help to rejuvenate the body by promoting the growth of healthy cells and inhibiting the growth of unhealthy ones.

Vitamin A deficiency will result in poor reproductive health and bone health, a suppressed immune system, poor vision, decreased liver function, brittle nails, skin health [gives the skin a gooseflesh appearance] Vitamin A adds lubrication to mucus membranes. Two diseases caused by the deficiency of vitamin A are Night Blindness and Xerophthalmia (drying up of the eyes and cornea). So tell me, is olestra worth it?

Also good to avoid; are food colorings that exacerbate problems in children with
Tendancies toward ADD or ADHD, AND IT CAUSES CANCER!

Nitrite and Nitrate

Sodium nitrate, Potassium nitrate, and Potassium nitrite are traditionally as preservatives in Deli meats and other processed meats to to prevent botulism, and to improve color and flavor.

Potassium Nitrite is toxic in large doses and had caused many deaths.
(5)
It has the ability to change hemoglobin to methemoglobin and this is what makes nitrite so dangerous. Hemoglobin is the component of red blood cells that carries oxygen to all the cells of the body. Methemoglobin is unable to carry oxygen; therefore the conversion of hemoglobin to methemoglobin drastically impairs the bloods’ ability to carry oxygen. The resulting condition is called methemoglobinemia. People suffering from this condition have difficulty breathing; experience skin discoloration (bluish tinge) and can even lose consciousness which, in turn, can cause death if the levels of methemoglobin rise higher. According to FAO/WHO, babies seem especially venerable to methemoglobin.

In other words it actually alters our blood chemistry and produces a lethal condition.

It was added to baby foods at one time, but now is probably only found in some imported baby foods.

Recent studies have found a link between high processed meat consumption and colon cancer, possibly due to preservatives such as sodium nitrite. My stepfather died of colon cancer and he was always a sausage enthusiast.

Nitrate used in 'cured' meats is often found in our water supply also:
(6)
Risk to Human Health: Nitrate is a potential human health threat especially to infants, causing the condition known as methemoglobinemia, also called "blue baby syndrome". Read about the impact of Nitrate in water used to make baby formula, on the infant. When Nitrate is taken in by eating food and drinking water, Nitrate is converted in the gut to nitrite, which then combines with hemoglobin to form methemoglobin, thus decreasing the ability of the blood to carry oxygen. Infants are more susceptible to nitrate toxicity than older children or adults. Fatalities are rare, but sub-acute methemoglobinemia can be asymptotic while affecting development, making the condition particularly insidious. Chronic consumption of high levels of nitrate may also cause other health problems, for example some cancers and teratogenic effects

This is all the research I have time for today, I will be doing more studies on maintaining health in the face of a dangerous world.

I find that since I've been taking CellPower™ I've started and am well down the road to recovery. I was so very sick when I started taking it that it immediately gave me a huge boost of energy, cleared up some problems I've had with me for many years and is working quite well on getting the chronic troubles chased outta me.

It is a natural product, which unlike drugs that shock and awes your body into change, often causing side effects; cellpower will gently adjust your systems towards health, without causing sides at all. Sometimes there is a Herxheimer effect, Your body; while throwing off toxins and pollutants, will feel a bit sickish, usually only for a few days but sometimes for as long as two weeks, then a huge burst of health will follow.

MODERN STRESSES AND OUR HEALTH

I know everyone has heard about free radicals:
(1)
"To understand the way that free radicals and antioxidants interact, you must first understand a bit about cells and molecules. So here's a (very) brief refresher course in Physiology/Chemistry 101: The human body is composed of many different types of cells. Cells are composed of many different types of molecules. Molecules consist of one or more atoms of one or more elements joined by chemical bonds.

The human body is composed of many different types of cells. Cells are composed of many different types of molecules. Molecules consist of one or more atoms of one or more elements joined by chemical bonds.

Atoms consist of a nucleus, neutrons, protons and electrons. The number of protons (positively charged particles) in the atom’s nucleus determines the number of electrons (negatively charged particles) surrounding the atom. Electrons are involved in chemical reactions and are the substance that bonds atoms together to form molecules. Electrons surround, or "orbit" an atom in one or more shells. The innermost shell is full when it has two electrons. When the first shell is full, electrons begin to fill the second shell. When the second shell has eight electrons, it is full, and so on.

Normally, bonds don’t split in a way that leaves a molecule with an odd, unpaired electron. But when weak bonds split, free radicals are formed. Free radicals are very unstable and react quickly with other compounds, trying to capture the needed electron to gain stability. Generally, free radicals attack the nearest stable molecule, "stealing" its electron. When the "attacked" molecule loses its electron, it becomes a free radical itself, beginning a chain reaction. Once the process is started, it can cascade, finally resulting in the disruption of a living cell.

Some free radicals arise normally during metabolism. Sometimes the body’s immune system’s cells purposefully create them to neutralize viruses and bacteria. However, environmental factors such as pollution, radiation, cigarette smoke and herbicides can also spawn free radicals.

Antioxidants neutralize free radicals by donating one of their own electrons, ending the electron-"stealing" reaction. The antioxidant nutrients themselves don’t become free radicals by donating an electron because they are stable in either form They act as scavengers, helping to prevent cell and tissue damage that could lead to cellular damage and disease."

Is that clear? Ok, it's like this three kids form a play group, there has to be three, one more joins and they are unhappy, so a rescue group joins and there are two groups of three; as happy as can be.

(1)
The Lesson: Eat Your Fruits and Vegetables!
The antioxidants are believed to help protect the body from free-radical damage. But before you go out and stock your pantry with mega-doses of these vitamins, be warned: more is not always better. The long-term effect of large doses of these nutrients has not been proven. Other chemicals and substances found in natural sources of antioxidants may also be responsible for the beneficial effects. So for now, the best way to ensure adequate intake of the antioxidant nutrients is through a balanced diet consisting of 5-8 servings of fruits and vegetables per day.

Of course as we've seen before not all veggies and fruits are created equal, threre are real foods and GM 'foods', ther is stuff grown in good soil and some grown in poor soil, there is food grown both with and without the 'cides [herba- and pesti-]. So often supplementing is better than doing without or getting bad 'food'.

My first choice for detoxifying is CellPower™. It puffs up our cells with oxygen that is lacking in our environment air, and allows the release of all spent nutrients that build up and also forces the free radicals out.

VOC gasses:

VOC stands for Volatile Organic Compounds. And there's nothing 'organic' in the classic "good for you' sense.

We've all heard that the travel trailers made for Katrina victims has further victimized them with VOC gasses left in them from the manufacturing processes. The new smell you get in automobiles, Mobil homes, new construction on stick-built homes is formaldahydde.

I have a personal story concerning formaldahyde. I worked for 8 months in a dot com business. The office had an issue with formaldahyde in the carpets and I developed a case of bronchitis that has never really left me and it's been 4 years since I was in that building. However with the CellPower™, I'm really on-the-mend.

Not all VOC's are formaldahyde; Perchloroethylene is a cancer-causing VOC used in dry cleaning. Look for environmentally friendly cleaners that do not use this toxic chemical.

(2)
Sources of VOCs Include ...
Paints
Paint strippers and other solvents
Wood preservatives
Aerosol sprays
Cleansers and disinfectants
Moth repellents
Air fresheners
Stored fuels and automotive products
Hobby supplies
Dry-cleaned clothing
Varnishes
Newspaper
Cooking
Vinyl floors
Carpets
Photocopying
Upholstery fabrics
Adhesives
Sealing caulks
Cosmetics
Vehicle exhaust
Pressed wood furniture
Tobacco smoke (secondhand smoke)

Acute symptoms of VOC exposure include:
Eye irritation/watering, Nose and throat irritation, Headaches, Nausea/vomiting,
Dizziness, Asthma exacerbation, Allergic skin reaction, Memory impairment,Visual disorders,
However, over time, VOCs can lead to many serious conditions including:
Cancer, Damage to the liver, kidney and central nervous system,Loss of coordination.

'cides:

Agri-business just doesn't have the resources we've had in times past to individualy pick weeds or pluck insects off crops to keep the crop safe from either, so they use buckets of herbacides and pesticides to do that job for them.

Let's just face facts here we on this planet are all carbon-based and what kills the cells of a batch of quack grass will kill cells in our own bodies. What distroys an insect that sucks the juices out of a plant will do something yucky to us too.

I am not going into a huge dissertation of what the individual chemicals that are used for each of these 'cides will do to us, I will just give you an anecdotal account. My step-father was a State Agricultural inspecter in Minnesota. he knew lots of varied people in this capacty and since hje had a large potato farm he met with and had lots of experience with chemicals. He told me he watched as a friend of his who was a pesticide sprayer; piloting a spray plane, accidentally flew into a cloud of pesticide he'd just sprayed. Well, he landed, got out and promptly fell dead on the tarmac, 'Nuff said.

I don't like to think of this but it's quite true that much of these chemicals are not just on the veggies and fruits but inside them. More free radicals.....We are constantly exposed to this chemical stew, and it's no wonder we stay so sick, and even if we "have a longer life span" than previous generations the quality of that life is certainly not lasting. This is why a good supplement like CellPower™ is so necessary for those who are beginning to feel our environmental stresses, and especially for those who aren't yet. I was so very sick when I started taking it that it immediatly gave me a huge boost of energy, cleared up some problems I've had with me for many years and is working quite well on getting the chronic troubles chased outta me.

EATING RIGHT

As a Diabetic I have to eat right to get healthy. What does that mean? What are good foods and bad foods?

I know, for instance, that I can't eat any processed foods because they are so altered that the body doesn't recognize them as nourishment. And The processed food industry loads fat, sugar, High Fructose Corn Syrup, and salt into their products because they are cheap. Also food colorings of dubious safety and MSG is also routinely added, see also What's so exciting about MSG for all the names of MSG that are used in foods.

(1)
"The human body consists of billions of microscopic living cells, composed of perfectly, balanced quantities of water and organic substances. If you have eaten the standard North American Diet for years, without serious harm to your health, it is due to your body's outstanding resistance. Yet genetic weaknesses may be hidden by youth. The cumulative effect of toxins will increase the risk of becoming a host to disease or premature death. Unfortunately, resistance to disease diminishes as the abuse continues. Disease is like heating a pot of water. When the water becomes too hot, it quickly boils over. The biochemistry of the body will absorb toxins only to a point. There is a boiling point—illness!

We live like no other generation before us. A giant experiment of toxic ingestion. In this game, the stakes are high, it can cost your life. We may consider our way of eating as normal, but the modern diet is about as normal as a test tube of chemicals. The body’s chemistry is recreated by ingesting countless food additives and environmental contaminants.

The toxins in your body have been accumulating since birth and are embedded in every cell structure and organ. But do not despair, there is an answer. Toxins disrupt the natural chemistry of your body. Remove the harmful elements in your diet, replacing them with health-filled foods, and a wonderful new metamorphosis will occur. God has created the body to be irrepressibly healthy!
Chemicals which have the power to produce mutations through chromosome damage are called mutagens. They cause disruptions of the genetic code which are responsible for over 15,000 inheritable, genetic disorders. Sadly, they may have a drastic consequence to our grandchildren.

The food industry aims at making products look and taste appealing without thought to the products' nutritional value. Loaded with chemical additives and designed to be addictive, processed food is manufactured first for profit."

Instead of using, for instance, Lemon juice to enhance the flavors of foods scientists use a chemical called 2-methyl-3-(pisopropylphenyl)-propionaldehyde to replace it for cost effectiveness.

Feed for chickens includes arsenic [SHADES OF OLD LACE!] to improve egg laying and give the chickens a more yellow skin. Aluminum compounds are added to baking powder, aspirin, pickles, antacids, beer, table salt and antiperspirants, and Aluminum is implicated in Alzheimer's.

Then there are the genetically modified foods:
(2)
"The real dangers of GE foods

DNA is a natural part of our diet being present in foods which either
retain or are derived from whole cells (fruits, vegetables, meat etc.).
This being the case it would be expected that we would also digest the DNA
from GE foods without any health problems. It would therefore appear that
the mere presence of genetic material in GE food only poses a danger in
certain special cases as, for example, where antibiotic resistance genes
persist in a product. However, the main hazards that result from the use of
genetic engineering in food production stem from the fact that (i) genetic
engineering brings about combinations of genes that would never occur
naturally and (ii), in the case of plants and animals, genetic engineering
is an imprecise technology resulting in the random incorporation of the new
genes into the host DNA. These two effects always combine to produce a
totally unpredictable disturbance in host genetic function as well as in
that of the introduced gene. The resulting disturbance in the biochemistry
of the host can unexpectedly produce novel toxins, allergens and reduced
nutritional value. Therefore, it is quite possible for a processed food in
which the DNA has been destroyed or removed to still possess potentially
harmful substances."

To paraphrase, GM foods are harmful because they aren't food that our bodies recognize as food.

(3)
"[What is] "hybrid" and why it is that much of a problem?

Answer: Hybridized foods are genetically altered foods. They are foods which will not survive in nature without human protection. They are strains of foods which have been artificially bred together to appeal to the numb tastebuds of cooked-food eaters. For example, beets in the natural state are 4% sugar. Beets in the supermarket are 17% sugar. The same holds true for carrots. Most fruits and vegetables, even if organic, are genetically altered to some degree. The best guideline is to avoid seedless fruits of any kind. Also, in terms of vegetables: carrots, beets, and potatoes should be avoided. Nearly all legumes are weak hybrid strains and should be avoided."

I'd add all corn, soy, and rice are GM.

This why I totally control what I eat, I do all my cooking and use only whole foods. Recently I found that the simplest spices contain additives I won't ingest so, I make my own see:Another Advantage to Summer/Katy's essence

Reaching the end of a job interview, the Human Resources Person asked a young engineer who was fresh out of MIT, "What starting salary were you thinking about?" The Engineer said, "In the neighborhood of $125,000 a year, depending on the benefits package." The interviewer said, "Well, what would you say to a package of 5 weeks vacation, 14 paid holidays, full medical and dental, company matching retirement fund to 50% of salary, and a company car leased every 2 years - say, a red Corvette?" The Engineer sat up straight and said, "Wow! Are you kidding?" The interviewer replied, "Yeah, but you started it."

A couple of young boys were fishing at their special pond off the beaten track. All of a sudden, the Game Warden jumped out of the bushes. Immediately, one of the boys threw his rod down and started running through the woods like a bat out of hell. The Game Warden was hot on his heels. After about a half mile, the young man stopped and stooped over with his hands on his thighs to catch his breath, so the Game Warden finally caught up to him. "Let's see yer fishin' license, Boy!" the Warden gasped. With that, the boy pulled out his wallet and gave the Game Warden a valid fishing license. "Well, son," said the Game Warden, "you must be about as dumb as a box of rocks! You don't have to run from me if you have a valid license!" "Yes, sir," replied the young guy, "but my friend back there, well, he don't have one."

Joan, who was a rather well-proportioned secretary, spent almost all of her vacation sunbathing on the roof of her hotel. She wore a bathing suit the first day, but on the second, she decided that no one could see her way up there, and she slipped out of it for an overall tan. She'd hardly begun when she heard someone running up the stairs. She was lying on her stomach, so she just pulled a towel over her rear. "Excuse me, miss," said the flustered assistant manager of the hotel, out of breath from running up the stairs. "The Hilton doesn't mind your sunbathing on the roof, but we would very much appreciate your wearing a bathing suit as you did yesterday." "What difference does it make?" Joan asked rather calmly. "No one can see me up here, and besides, I'm covered with a towel." "Not exactly," said the embarrassed man. "You're lying on the dining room skylight."

Have a great day!

DISADVANTAGES OF SUMMER

I haven't slept well for several days, The heat and humpaditty[sic] has been terrible, more than our nominal air conditioners can handle. We bought air conditioners that would deal with normal summer heat but every year it gets 'abnormally' warm. My blood glucose levels go up when I'm stressed by sleeplessness. Also we were rear ended a few weeks ago and my back is still a bit tight from that. Add to that the drafts from the fan in our bedroom and I get up sore and uncomfortable.

Fortunately the CellPower™
I'm taking has really helped my heart and blood pressure so they aren't a problem,. When one wakes frequently for no reason, the culprit can be the heart's distress in the night. Sleeplessness results because it's hard to get back to sleep. I no longer have those problems, and if I didn't have to battle the high heat and moisture in our home at night I'd sleep quite well. I go to bed early these days; I used to stay up until 2-3am because I dreaded the nightly torture of lying in bed and not being able to sleep, and I'd sleep in until 10am or later, making for short miserable days I'd just endure, no living then it was just an existence. If you think I'm exaggerating, well I am, but in the opposite direction you'd think. It was really the most awful kind of life, I was just waiting to die.

Losing weight and exercising [and I confess there's not as much of that as you'd think] has really changed my life and the CellPower™ has really topped off my efforts by helping me tackle the peripheral problems of IBS and Candidiasis also those pesky and multi-origin allergies that kept me from breathing, made me itch so bad I'd cause bleeding in my skin in my sleep, and then there was the itchy watery eyes that made it so hard to see or keep any eye liner on.

Here's one more thing I've not mentioned yet that CellPower™ has helped me with. I had lesions on my nose, tiny red marks with a scaly edge that nothing would touch, I tried everything in my arsenal, zinc oxide, Hydrogen peroxide and a few secret nostrums, nothing helped, Months went by and I was just sure I had one of the skin cancers mom warned me about in my foolish youth when long before sunscreen was invented I allowed myself to burn like toast in the sun. I mix the CellPower™ in 1 drop to 10 drops of distilled water, I use highly filtered water, and every day I applied that to my nose and around my mouth where I get little cold sores from other allergies, and sweat. I also had a small patch of dry scaly skin on my temple that Of Course I've picked at over the years. All those things have just disappeared, no more scaly patches, no more rashes around my mouth, no more lesions on my nose, Hooray!

~~~[digression]~~~
I'd like to explain something here about why we should use distilled water or filtered water or juice to mix the CellPower™in. It is highly antibiotic, anti-fungal-and anti-viral, and we want all that good healing power in us not cleaning up our water. I always use the last mouthful of CellPower™ as I drink it to hold in my mouth to clean up any bacteria that might mess with my teeth or gums. I am getting a much cleaner, healthier mouth that way. The CellPower™ begins it's work the very minute you start to drink it, it is absorbed into the mucus membranes as soon as it gets in the mouth.
The very best way to get full benefit from the CellPower™, is to shake the bottle very well, then squeeze out 10 drops of it into an empty glass, add 8 oz. of clean water to it and drink it, do this three times per day for the first month, after that you can adjust the dosage to 15 drops three times a day. The taste is like lemon juice in water.
Someone asked why I recommend distilled water to help adjust the pH to alkaline. Not all alkalizing foods are alkaline in nature, for instance Lemons are a very alkalizing food and are intrinsically acid in themselves. CellPower™ is the same way, it helps the body alkalize without being alkaline, but it packs a powerful punch in addition.
~~~[/digression]~~~

OK back to summer and hot weather, Of course we do have cellpower buyers in Australia and New Zealand who are still in the throes of what we call winter, but spring is coming for them too, and hot weather follows.

Anything that causes stress will raise the blood glucose levels, so a bit of a rise in the readings are no cause for alarm.

I read somewhere that a diabetic can more easily assimilate a sweet[or hi-carb] in the pm, but I've found that it's best for my glucose levels to eat any sweet, like fruits at breakfast, then when I'm busy working all morning [my busiest time] I can work it all off and my evening reading proves that out. I have found that eating the wrong foods has a cumulative effect, I can cheat once even twice, but any more will cause my glucose levels to rise and stay up. I'm still not out of the 'normal' or 'controlled' levels, just a bit higher. An adjustment in the mental part of the diet is needed as well as the food part. Heh heh.

ANOTHER ADVANTAGE OF SUMMER

Today I went on a shopping trip with some friends from Church. I asked my lady-friend to go with me to check out the thrift stores but she decided she just couldn't leave her hubby at home so he drove us. I bought bags full of clothes! Some I can wear now, some will be altered to make something else. We just had to stop by a roadside stand and get some lovely fresh veggies. I think part of the CellPower™ miracle is that I'm craving fruits and veggies, not normal for me. I bought tomatoes, Anaheim peppers, Jalapeno peppers, green peppers, an eggplant and zucchinis! I could hardly wait to get home and have some.

~~~~recipe~~~
OK this is how I do it you eat it anyway you like.
I slice up the zucchinis and eggplant,
and also two Jalapenos,
a green pepper,
1/2 an onion and 2 crushed/diced cloves of garlic,
and an Anaheim pepper, I melt some coconut oil
about a tablespoon in a pan put a lid on it and heat over "low' heat. I don't call this frying, but I really do best on cooked veggies, this softens and warms them, steaming gently. I add some of my own spice mix because I refuse to use prepared mixes since I found MSG in my lemon pepper!!!!!!!!; below see my mix recipe.
Anyway I made a small hamburger patty to go with my lovely [tasty] veggies, it was delicious! I added my spice mix that I call Katy's Essence [it's based on Emeril's Essence mix, but I added more heat for great barbecue rubs!]
~~~Katy's essence~~~
I've sent this out to friends all over the US because when I make it every year I make a lot!

When I say a part I use a bottle of spice, it can be any size as long as all 'parts' are the same size.

2 1/2 parts of paprika [I love paprika anyway]
2 parts salt[I use sea salt or kosher salt]
2 parts garlic powder
1 part black pepper
1 part onion powder
1 part Cajun seasoning
1 part Italian herbs
1 part crushed red pepper
1 part chili powder
put it all in your food processor to grind up the Italian herbs and crushed red pepper so it's Incorporated well into the other spices which are powders.

I usually make a double batch to last a year, we snarf this stuff, I put it in re-marked spice bottles that the ingredients came from, I then save then as I empty then so I'll always have bottles to keep it in.

I use this especially for the grill Very Liberally covering all the meat [chicken]. It tastes so good. It's really not that hot, but you can use 1/2 part chili powder instead for a milder spice mix.

~~~
I don't really know why I put recipes in this I doubt anyone ever uses them. Too bad, I found while reversing diabetes that I got so bored with my diet that I was dying, [yes, dying] for something that tasted good, I'll never ever eat another donut or any ice cream,red meat is out for me [I just cant digest it] and all the treats /I used to love are just not happenin' again. First I've become pretty particular about the additives on finds routinely in our 'food' supply. I won't eat Genetically modified foods or sprayed foods [I wash if I don't know] something else that CellPower™ is good for. It really cleans the veggies, and I won't eat microwaved foods, processed foods were already out... It doesn't leave much. Sigh, Heavy Sigh.
For breakfast I added blueberries and real, plain yogurt, [ewe, it's really awful] my own strawberries and some pomegranate juice*, and some cherries [for the pain from getting rear-ended a few weeks ago]. I don't eat oatmeal for the taste but to reduce my cholesterol, and my blood pressure and *by the way pomegranate juice helps with that. My oatmeal isn't tasty but I get added fiber from it.
I lost lost of my ability to taste subtle flavors five years ago, I lost my ability to smell, no my sense of smell[I probably get really whiff after gardening!] just two years ago, and would love to get back the original one, now nothing smells really good. I can smell food cooking, sort of but all fragrances are nasty! All I smell is a strong chemical smell that is far from pleasant. I did get a treat the other day and got a sniff of someone Else's perfume at church and it smelled good, but not on me. All my clothes, my hair and bath soaps smell exactly the same, icky. I have absolutely no clue why this is and I've done some research on the subject. It started when I had the flu the second time in a few months [each session lasted many weeks], and I said just as I was recovering the second time, well at least I never lost my sense of smell this time, and the next day it was gone, and only a few smells have returned.
STATUS
My weight is staying the same, my blood glucose is also. in the one-teens [from 111-119 or lower]. I'm taking 10 units of insulin twice a day and seem to be doing better all the time.
I'm still taking CellPower™
Before I give you the first one I want to hasten to inform you I got this from a southerner:
HOW TO INSTALL A SOUTHERN HOME SECURITY SYSTEM!!!
1) Go to a second-hand store, buy a pair of men's used size 14-16 work boots
2) Place them on your front porch, along with a copy of Guns & Ammo Magazine
3) Put a few giant dog dishes next to the boots and magazine
4) Leave a note on your door that reads:
Hey Bubba, Big Jim, Duke and Slim,
I went for more ammunition. Back in an hour. Don't mess with the pit bulls- they attacked the mailman this morning and messed him up real bad. I don't
think Killer took part in it but it was hard to tell from all the blood. Anyway, I locked all four of'em in the house. Better wait outside.
A man goes skydiving for the first time. After listening to the instructor for what seems like days, he is ready to go. Excited, he jumps out of the airplane. After a bit, he pulls the ripcord. Nothing happens. He tries again. Still nothing.
He starts to panic, but remembers his back-up chute. He pulls that cord. Nothing happens. He frantically begins pulling both cords, but to no avail. Suddenly, he looks down and he can't believe his eyes. Another man is in the air with him, but this guy is going up! Just as the other guy passes by, the skydiver -- by this time scared out of his wits--yells, "Hey, do you know anything about skydiving?" The other guy yells back, "No! Do you know anything about gas stoves?"
FACTORS IN DIABETES MANAGEMENT- SEASONAL INFLUENCES
For me, I do tend to stay pretty busy all summer and get better exercise during the summer months. Right now it's getting to where I can't be outside as much. Let's just be honest here for a minute, Even though I've lost weight, I'm still overweight and heat is hard on me. So are the mosquitoes [I must be delicious!], and at this time of year I have to be careful not to go outside too early or too late, so I'm outside during the hot parts of the day. I still get lots of work done, weeding, watering, repotting, assorted wheelbarrow chores; dragging soil and leaves from one place to another.
~~~[digression]~~~
I studied gardening and landscaping from a master gardener in Eastern Washington state, I was much younger then, but I remember at the time I wasn't very healthy; I worked very slowly. I really feel like I'm healthier now, even though I weigh more. A few years after that time in Eastern Washington I was riding a mountain bike daily-in the mountains of Idaho and got so muscular that I'm now dragging around fat and lots of [heavy] muscle, still I think being muscular even under the fat is doing me more good than bad. I believe people who were at one time very active will find it is helpful if they need to regain health after some time being sedentary. Sure it's hard to make the transition from a rocking chair to a daily regimen of exercise, but the reserves to do it are there.
~~~[/digression]~~~
I have motivation to get my home's landscaping looking nice. While we rent this house,[we going to be are buying it, but haven't signed the papers yet]and have lived here for 5 years I've always wanted to do landscaping so I had secured permission to alter what I wanted from our landlord 4 years ago. At that time we spent 8 hour days, 7 days a week every March cleaning out the existing beds, creating new beds. Trimming trees and bushes, painting the house and garage, planting and adding more gardens, building a patio, and maintenance of the 1/2 acre we've accepted as our responsibility. Each year it was something different, a new theme. My husband would groan when I'd say something like, "Honey, This year we can....".
You see he's my Manuel Labor, he carries the big bags of mulch from the car, schleps the patio pavers, and drags the trees I cut down to the woods[I was cutting them down with my bow saw until he bought a chain saw] and he likes to say, "We did that".
If you want to see some of what we've done, I've got lots of photos on this site scroll down to see older pix, photobucket. I have a lot [14 pages! of the inside of the house too, grandkids, crafty stuff...etc. just filter through those to see our home, yard, and the vacant lot next door we maintain too.
Usually I'll go out and start a project we've been talking about and if he gets intrigued he'll join in and start helping. This year he's been much more anxious to start new projects, but then he too is now taking CellPower™. He's losing weight now too, probably because I'm cooking with coconut oil
and is feeling better too. He's had a back injury and was pretty sedentary when we met, 7 years ago. Our yard work is pretty hard on him but he's had years of pain to get used to it and he's so much healthier now, even though he eats mostly meats.
No, I'm not worried about getting exercise in the Summer, I am wondering how I'll do it in winter. I find standing in one place exercising on a machine ludicrous. I have things to do and working out on a machine is just silly. Unfortunately I'm a writer and it is not a very strenuous activity. I have a shop I like to work in in the winter, but when it's really cold my poor feet get so cold standing on the icy concrete floor. I found some carpet that I laid in the garage, but it has to come up to park the car in there. My feet were; from the factory, not made to specs and they have always hurt even when I was thin, so walking for miles is out until I'm much thinner.
I haven't thought of a solution to this problem yet, but I will, I'm hoping as the diabetes fades, as it is doing, I'll be able to lose weight easier and will be lighter on my poor feet, so I will be able to walk in winter.
One thing I really have to do is cut back on my food intake even more. I always feel so hungry now, but it has to be psychological, so I will cut back more. When I was younger I remember thinking of hunger pangs as a good thing, I was losing weight every time my tummy rumbled. NO, I'm no where near being anorexic. As an infant I was waaaay overfed, I have had to battle that all my life.
~~~[digression]~~~
I was just out watering today and I noticed that I actually have figs on my figtree I planted in a pot this year. I never saw any flowers but I see little blobby things growing the 'crotches' of where the upper leaves attach to the main trunk. I was afraid it needed to be older to produce and had given up on having my favorite fruits this year again, I like them fresh but haven't had any since I was nine living in San Bernardino, California. We lived there for a year when my Father was in Viet Nam the first time[1958].
~~~[/digression]~~~
I try to keep up the house and it's up and down stairs to do laundry several times a week. Still that's not enough, and I notice when I take a day off for a short nap or reading a few chapters, I wake up not so chipper the next day.
I'll write a little and go outside and do some puttering, until I'm soaked with sweat, then come in and write some more. This won't go so well in the winter I know.
Exercising [still a dirty word in my vocabulary] is crucial for cardiovascular health too. Getting that heart pumping and flushing out the arteries is so important to keep the old body going strong.
(1)
Seasonal variation: activity in general and walking in particular
Seasonal variation in physical activity has been described in nondiabetic populations. For example, in a community-based study conducted in Michigan, the proportion of respondents reporting no leisure time physical activity was highest in the winter (32.5%) and fall (28.7%) and lowest in the spring (23.4%) and summer (17.0%) [14]. In a Massachussetts study, total MET-hours/day increased by 1.4 (SD = 8.4) among men and 1.0 (SD = 6.0) among women in July compared to January (24-hour physical activity recall) [15]. In one survey, adults who perceived weather as an impediment to walking were three to five times less likely to walk 120 minutes per week [16]. In a study conducted by Tudor-Locke and colleagues, during a one-year period of pedometer self-monitoring in South Carolina and Tennessee (25 participants, nondiabetic), participants recorded a mean of 10,082 steps/day, with 900 more steps/day during the summer compared to the winter. Interestingly, steps/day was highest in June and August, but somewhat lower in July, possibly attributable to extremely warm July temperatures in the southern American states.
Apparently walking is the exercise of choice, so unless I'm ready to quit eating altogether I'd better find some size 6-1/2 EEEE-EEE shoes and get to walking. I suppose I could just buy some pricey children's sneakers and hope for the best, kids' shoes are made wider.
Have a great day, may you be always blessed and your wallet always full, May you find fresh pasture and cool shade. Be blessed my friends!
Two bright young engineers applied for the same position at a computer company. Since they had identical qualifications, the company asked the two applicants to take a ten-question test. At the conclusion of the test, one of the applicants was called into the manager's office. "I have graded the test, and you both scored nine correct answers and got one answer wrong. Thank you for your interest, but we've decided to give the job to the other applicant."
"And why would you choose him if we both got nine questions correct?" asked the rejected applicant. "We have based our decision not on the correct answers, but on the question you missed," said the Department manager.
"And just how would one incorrect answer be better than the other?" the rejected applicant inquired.
"Simple," said the Department manager, "The other gentleman answered Question #5, 'I don't know.' Your answer to Question #5 was, 'Neither do I.'"
REVERSING DIABETES- PAIN from sugar
They, you know the ubiquitous 'them', as in us and them, say that Diabetes is irreversible. But many many people have done it, their blood glucose levels stay normal Day after day, even right after meals, they are not starving, but eat a normal diet. So what do you call that? If that's not a cure I don't know what is....
I am planning to be one of the people who are no longer anticipating the degenerative effects of diabetes. I'm getting healthier. I could tell you but you probably wouldn't believe me, Ok I will... I think the biggest boost I've had is in my mood. I'm just happy, I can't tell you how that happened but it has, I've fought a predisposition for depression all my life, being suicidal for nearly 45 years straight...This JOY is a recent development, It's been within the last four weeks. I have been taking CellPower™ for a few months now, the first thing I noticed; and it was right away, was that I had lots more energy and I was sleeping better. Then, as I saw my pH beginning to normalize I was seeing my blood glucose levels leveling out more, my weight is still going down, and I'm finding I'm in so much less pain. Then inexplicably, possibly it's from the relief I feel from getting healthier, I can't stop smiling.
NERVE DAMAGE IN DIABETES called diabetic neuropathy?
(1)
The symptoms of peripheral neuropathy include:
-numbness and loss of feeling (usually first in the feet or hands)
-slower reflexes
-pain varying from minor discomfort or tingling sensations in fingers and toes to -severe pain; pain may be sharp or lightning like, deep aches that make sleep or daily activities difficult, or sensitive skin that responds to the slightest touch
-weak muscles.
What is Diabetic Nerve Pain?
Diabetic nerve pain is a problem that some people with diabetes have. This condition is also called painful diabetic peripheral neuropathy.
Peripheral (per-IF-er-al) refers to the parts of the body that are farthest away from the center of your body like your arms, legs, fingers and toes
Neuropathy (Nur-AH-pa-thee) means damage to the nerves
Diabetic nerve pain occurs most often when people have blood sugar levels that are too high for too long. These high blood sugar levels can cause nerve damage in many parts of the body, including:feet and legs~hands and arms
I have/had all those symptoms, I still get stabbing pains in my toes, but all in all~ those symptoms have receded, I only get the stabbing pains when I eat sugar, not from fruit sugars either just from white sugar in candies and cookies I find so hard to resist. So I'm going out on a limb here and say, if you have diabetic neuropathy try staying completely away from white sugar. I knew a man years ago who said he had to eliminate sugar from his diet because it caused him pain. And He wasn't Diabetic.
Mood affects pain. It does not seem as severe if we remain calm and avoid becoming anxious or depressed. Many techniques taught at childbirth classes are based on this approach of facing pain with calmness.
The higher your blood sugar is the less able your are to tolerate pain, according to research at the University of Minnesota College of Medicine, published in the American Journal of Medicine 77:79. Since DIABETICS must be vigilant to keep their blood-sugar levels low, this is an especially important discovery for them. Generally, diabetics were found to have a lower tolerance for pain than non-diabetics.
People who are sugar-sensitive have naturally low levels of serotonin. As a result, they do not have good impulse control. It is almost impossible for them to "just say no" because there is such a short time between their getting the urge to do something and their doing it. This is why no matter how many times you vow to stick with a diet, you are not able to. The insufficient serotonin level in your brain isn't giving you the time you need to make good decisions.
Besides being impulsive, people with low levels of serotonin may feel depressed and find themselves craving foods such as bread, pasta or candy. This craving is the work of your brain, not your ego, because your brain knows that getting you to eat such foods -- which are all simple carbohydrates -- will temporarily raise your serotonin level. Unfortunately, it will also have a devastating boomerang effect and cause all sorts of negative feelings. Having low serotonin can cause these feelings:
-Feeling depressed
-Acting impulsively
-Feeling blocked and scattered
-Having a short attention span
-Feeling suicidal
-Craving sweets and simple carbohydrates
So maybe eating sugar was my problem the depression, the pain, the impulsiveness, feeling blocked and scattered, I am much more focused now, I can remember to do things even if I stop to do something else first, It just has to be that the CellPower™
has helped to raise my seratonin levels, and I no longer crave sweets as much, and the above symptoms are so much lessened also. I just can't recommend this product highly enough. I also place in my prayers each day all the folks who are taking it so that they'll find it helps them as much as it is helping me! I want to be a small part of helping our nation heal to fix our health care problem. I can't help with a broken arm or a head wound except that a healthy body heals so much faster!
THIS ONE IS BAAAD BUT FUNNY
This truck driver hauling a tractor-trailer load of computers stops for a beer. As he approaches the bar he sees a big sign on the door saying "Nerds Not Allowed - Enter At Your Own Risk!" He goes in and sits down. The bartender comes over to him, sniffs, says, "You smell kind of nerdy. What do you do for a living?" The truck driver says, "I drive a truck, and the smell is just from the computers I am hauling." The bartender says, "Okay, truck drivers are not nerds." and serves him a beer. As he is sipping his beer, a skinny guy walks in with tape around his glasses, a pocket protector with twelve kinds of pens and pencils, and a belt at least a foot too long. The bartender, without saying a word, pulls out a shotgun and blows the guy away. The truck driver said, totally shocked, "Why did you do that?" The bartender said, "Not to worry, the nerds are overpopulating Silicon Valley and are in season now. You don't even need a license." The truck driver finishes his beer, gets back in his truck, and heads back onto the freeway. Suddenly he veers to avoid an accident, and the load shifts. The back door breaks open and computers spill out all over the freeway. He jumps out and sees a crowd already forming, grabbing up the computers. They are all engineers, accountants and programmers wearing the nerdiest clothes he has ever seen. He can't let them steal his whole load. So, remembering what happened in the bar, he pulls out his gun and starts blasting away, felling several of them instantly. A highway patrol officer comes zooming up and jumps out of the car screaming at him to stop. The truck driver said, "What's wrong? I thought nerds were in season." "Well, sure," said the patrolman. "But you can't bait 'em."
A man was driving along the highway, and saw a rabbit hopping across the middle of the road. He swerved to avoid hitting the rabbit, but unfortunately the rabbit jumped in front of the car and was hit. The driver, being a sensitive man as well as an animal lover, pulled over to the side of the road and got out to see what had become of the rabbit. Much to his dismay, the rabbit was dead. The driver felt so awful he began to cry. A woman driving down the highway saw the man crying on the side of the road and pulled over. She stepped out of her car and asked the man what was wrong. "I feel terrible," he explained. "I accidentally hit this rabbit and killed it." The woman told the man not to worry. She knew what to do. She went to he car trunk and pulled out a spray can. She walked over to the limp, dead rabbit, and sprayed the contents of the can onto the rabbit. Miraculously, the rabbit came to life, jumped up, waved its paw at the two humans and hopped down the road. 50 meters away the rabbit stopped, turned around, waved at the two again, hopped down the road another 50 meters, turned, waved, and hopped another 50 meters. The man was astonished. He couldn't figure out what substance could be in the woman's spray can! He ran over to the woman and demanded, " What was in your spray can? What did you spray onto that rabbit?" The woman turned the can around so that the man could read the label. It said: " 'Hare Spray' Restores Life to Dead Hare. Adds Permanent Wave."
