Beauty is from within

Remember The Fountain of Youth
(1)
When our bodies are functioning well, cells in our hair follicles called melanocytes generate pigments -- the chief one being melanin. When the melanocytes stop producing these pigments, we sprout a transparent hair, which appears as an unsightly gray due to the color of the dead cells that comprise the strand.
Why does this happen? The most common reason is heredity; premature gray hair is yet another thing we can blame on our parents. But there are also several medical conditions characterized by graying of the hair. A B-12 deficiency, a thyroid imbalance, and anemia can all cause premature gray hair. And if you needed yet another reason to quit smoking, there is new evidence that smokers are four times more likely to go gray at a young age.

I hear that getting older causes us to lose chroma, or color, our hair becomes a non-color, our faces lose elasticity and color, so the result is li'l ol' ladies with a clownish blush and bluish hair.

Smoking causes more wrinkles too, so it won't help looking youthful if one smokes, Ironic ain't it? We start smoking to make us look older and it carries right along into our dotage, we look older than we are. Ah, but by this time we don't want to look older.

Hair, Skin & Nails
Beauty Starts From Within
Brrrr! The winter season with its cold and dry weather can mean chapped lips, dry skin, cracked nails and brittle hair. Just because you’re not out in the sun as much these days doesn’t mean you can relax when it comes to maintaining a healthy beauty regimen.
Here’s a great tip…beautiful hair, skin and nails starts from the inside out. You can apply lotion and lip balm all day long, but unless you have the right nutrition you’ll always fight a loosing battle.
What goes into your body reflects like a mirror on the outside. Dehydration and poor food choices leave your body without the tools it needs to build collagen, strengthen connective tissues and repair itself with a ready supply of antioxidants.
Antioxidants
Eating antioxidant foods such as dark berries and citrus fruits can help minimize free radical damage caused by oxidation due to ordinary metabolic processes of the body and the environment such as, exercise, exposure to the environment, including pollution and sunlight and just plain aging.
Minerals
A diet with plenty of silica, calcium and iron promotes nail strength, supports vibrant hair and reduces breakage. Mineral-rich foods include sea vegetables, oats, whole grains, low-fat dairy and eggs. Mineral-rich botanicals include horsetail and gotu kola.
Hydration
Your body requires at least 8-10 glasses of purified water per day to cleanse and replenish cells; this is especially true if you work in an environment with air-conditioning or dry heat.
Sleep
Aim for a minimum of eights hours of sleep each night. Adequate sleep is necessary for skin and tissue repair and lessens the appearance of bags and dark circles under the eyes.

Getting a fresh and rejuvenated appearance this holiday can be simple, just remember that beauty starts from within.

Intrinsic Aging
Intrinsic aging, also known as the natural aging process, is a continuous process that normally begins in our mid-20s. Within the skin, collagen production slows, and elastin, the substance that enables skin to snap back into place, has a bit less spring. Dead skin cells do not shed as quickly and turnover of new skin cells may decrease slightly. While these changes usually begin in our 20s, the signs of intrinsic aging are typically not visible for decades. The signs of intrinsic aging are: *Fine wrinkles *Thin and transparent skin *Loss of underlying fat, leading to hollowed cheeks and eye sockets as well as noticeable loss of firmness on the hands and neck *Bones shrink away from the skin due to bone loss, which causes sagging skin
*Dry skin that may itch *Inability to sweat sufficiently to cool the skin *Graying hair that eventually turns white *Hair loss *Unwanted hair *Nail plate thins, the half moons disappear, and ridges develops.

The best way to look great at any age is to renew one's health and to cause one's body to respond the way it was intended to. We are supposed to repair ourselves, to heal from within, and our health should fairly burst out of our countenances with a shine, a glow, a glory of robust health.

Stay away from anything that isn't real food, or not prepared in a natural way [i.e. do not use the microwave], and do not use a bunch of chemically types of unguents or lotions, or soapy things that strip of us of essential skin oils and soak nasty poisons into our spongy skin.

Cookies

A young lady was waiting for her flight in the boarding room of a big airport.

As she would need to wait many hours, she decided to buy a book to spend her time. She also bought a packet of cookies. She sat down in an armchair, in the VIP room of the airport, to rest and read in peace. Beside the armchair where the packet of cookies lay, a a man sat down in the next seat, opened his magazine and started reading.

When she took out the first cookie, the man took one also. She felt irritated, but said nothing. She just thought: “What a nerve! If I was in the mood I would punch him for daring!”

For each cookie she took, the man took one too. This was infuriating her but she didn’t want to cause a scene. When only one cookie remained, she thought: “ah…What will this abusive man do now?”

Then, the man, taking the last cookie, divided it in half, giving one half to her. Ah! That was too much! She was much too angry now! In a huff, she took her book, her things, and stormed to the boarding place.

When she took her seat inside the plane, she looked in her purse for her eyeglasses, and, to her surprise, her packet of cookies was there…untouched, unopened! She felt so ashamed! She realized that she was wrong….She had forgotten that her cookies were kept in her purse.

The man had divided his cookies with her, without feeling angered or bitter….while she had been very angry, thinking that she was dividing her cookies with him. And now there was no chance to explain herself…nor to apologize.

There are four things you can never recover…

The stone… after the throw,

The word… after it’s said,

The occasion… after the loss, and

The time… after it’s gone.

What I've Learned by Having Boys – Part 1

1. A king size waterbed holds enough water to fill a 2000 sq. ft. house, 4 inches deep.

2. A 3-year old Boy's voice is louder than 200 adults in a crowded restaurant.

3. If you hook a dog leash over a ceiling fan, the motor is not strong enough to rotate a 42 pound Boy wearing Batman underwear and a Superman cape. It is strong enough, however, if tied to a paint can, to spread paint on all Four walls of a 20x20 ft. room.

4. You should not throw baseballs up when the ceiling fan is on….a ceiling fan can hit a baseball a long way.

5. The glass in windows (even double-pane) doesn't stop a baseball hit by a ceiling fan.

6. A six-year old Boy can start a fire with a flint rock even though a 36-year old Man says they can only do it in the movies.
What I've Learned by Having Boys – Part 2

7. Certain Legos will pass through the digestive tract of a 4-year old Boy.

8. Super glue is forever.

9. No matter how much Jell-O you put in a swimming pool, you still can't walk on water.

10. Pool filters do not like Jell-O.

11. VCRs do not eject "PB & J" sandwiches even though TV commercials show they do.

12. Marbles in gas tanks make lots of noise when driving.

13. The spin cycle on the washing machine does not make earthworms dizzy.

There was a huge accident on the interstate, a transport semi rolled over and cattle were all over the road, some were mooing some were dead on the road. Two young troopers showed up; drew their pistols from their holsters, one said to the other, "This one is severally injured." and he shot it.
The other said, "This one has a broken leg." and he shot that one. One by one they checked each out and put the out of their misery, finally one trooper came upon the driver who was shaking his head as if still dazed, The trooper asked, "How are you, Any injuries? What's wrong?" The driver looked up alarmed and replied, "Not a darned thing, I'm just fine, Really!"

JACK (age 3) was watching his Mom breast-feeding his new baby sister. After a while he asked: "Mom why have you got two? Is one for hot and one for cold milk?"
MELANIE (age 5) asked her Granny how old she was. Granny replied she was so
old she didn't remember any more. Melanie said, "If you don't remember you must look
in the back of your panties. Mine say five to six."
STEVEN (age 3) hugged and kissed his Mom goodnight. "I love you so much, that
when you die I'm going to bury you outside my bedroom window."
BRITTANY (age 4) had an earache and wanted a painkiller. She tried in vain to
take the lid off the bottle. Seeing her frustration, her Mom explained it was a
childproof cap and she'd have to open it for her. Eyes wide with wonder, the little
girl asked: "How does it know it's me?
SUSAN (age 4) was drinking juice when she got the hiccups. "Please don't give
me this juice again," she said, "It makes my teeth cough."
DI (age 4) stepped onto the bathroom scale and asked: "How much do I cost?"
MARC (age 4) was engrossed in a young couple that were hugging and kissing in
a restaurant. Without taking his eyes off them, he asked his dad: "Why is he
whispering in her mouth?"
CLINTON (age 5) was in his bedroom looking worried. When his Mom asked what was troubling him, he replied, "I don't know what'll happen with this bed
when I get married. How will my wife fit in?"
JAMES (age 4) was listening to a Bible story His dad read: "The man named Lot
was warned to take his wife and flee out of the city but his wife looked back and
was turned to salt." Concerned, James asked: "What happened to the flea?"
TAMMY (age 4) was with her mother when they met an elderly, rather wrinkled woman
her Mom knew. Tammy looked at her for awhile and then asked,"Why doesn't your skin fit your face?
The Sermon I think this Mom will never forget... "Dear Lord," the minister began,
with arms extended toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face.
"Without you, we are but dust." He would have continued, but at that moment my
very little daughter (who was listening!)leaned over to me and asked quite
audibly in her shrill little girl voice, "Mom, what is butt dust?"
