PHYTO POWER- MORE ZIP IN YOUR DIET

I get the magazine EXPERIENCE LIFE and with all the buzz about phytonutrients I wanted to bring it to this forum, ELMag just said it best.

Nutrients Beyond Number
Golden Ticket to Great Health
Why Food Is Your Best Source
From Allicin to Zeaxanthin: The Phytonutrient Superstars

Many of us are well aware of macronutrients, such as carbohydrates, protein and fat, as well as micronutrients, such as the vitamins and minerals that are listed on FDA-regulated food labels. But too few of us are familiar with phytochemicals — plant-based micronutrients that offer many health benefits and may help ward off chronic diseases, such as cancer, diabetes, heart disease and stroke.

It’s a time-tested truth: Plant-based foods, such as fruits, vegetables, legumes, whole grains, nuts and seeds, are good for you. But researchers recently have discovered that plant molecules connect with human cells in striking ways. In other words, we’ve known they were good for you — just not this good.

“I don’t think there’s been this much excitement since vitamins and minerals were discovered more than 100 years ago,” says Beverly Clevidence, PhD, the research leader at the USDA-funded Food Components and Health Laboratory in Beltsville, Md.

The discoveries — partly because of the work of the Human Genome Project — are revolutionizing the way we think about food.

In the past 20 years, for example, researchers have discovered that carrots, kale and peanuts are not just plant tissues embedded with vitamins and minerals that are easily encapsulated in multivitamins. Rather, these plant tissues are made up of tens of thousands of phytochemicals (“phyto” is from the Greek phuton, meaning plant).

You’ve probably heard of a few phytochemicals without even knowing what they are. For example, lycopene is a powerful phytonutrient found in tomatoes that helps fight heart disease and a variety of cancers. And the phenols found in strawberries protect against cancer and autoimmune diseases, and help reverse nerve-cell aging. But there are tens of thousands of other phytochemicals about which most of us know nothing. Experts in the nutrition field are buzzing about these chemicals with tongue-twisting names like glucoraphanin, zeaxanthin and saponin.

“This is an epic time,” says Jeffrey Bland, PhD, president of MetaProteomics, a nutrition research facility in Gig Harbor, Wash. “Some of the discoveries we’ve made since 2000 are so profound that the textbook companies can’t keep up with the information. There are brand-new nutrition textbooks out there that aren’t slightly wrong about phytonutrients, they’re totally wrong.”

Nutrients Beyond Number (Back to Top)

When scientists first discovered these mysterious chemicals in the early 1950s, they thought they had found new classes of vitamins. Some were even given names, such as “vitamin P” and “vitamin U.” But on the whole, these chemicals were largely ignored.

“We made the assumption that these tens of thousands of molecules were not useful,” says Bland. “They were considered to be flotsam and jetsam. They were refined out of shelf-stable foods with no worry, because they weren’t ‘essential’ nutrients.”

Technically, those early food manufacturers were right. Phytonutrients are “quasi-nutrients” or “conditionally essential,” meaning that their absence in the body does not cause beriberi, rickets or some other type of deficiency disease. Many nutritionists now believe, however, that a phytonutrient deficiency can lead to conditions much worse than mere scurvy — think chronic diseases such as cancer and diabetes.

As our understanding of these chemicals has increased, so has their number.

The original “vitamin P,” for example, is now known as flavonoids — a phytonutrient subclass that includes more than 4,000 chemicals. And the list continues to grow. In addition to the tens of thousands of phytonutrients, Bland says, there are an undetermined number of classes and subclasses.

“It’s so hard to put a number on it,” he explains. “It’s a constantly changing playing field. One day phytochemists think they’ve got it all worked out, and then suddenly they find a whole new family that previously was not recognized.”

The simple hop plant, for example, has more than 1,000 phytonutrients.

Golden Ticket to Great Health (Back to Top)

As the number of known phytochemicals has multiplied, so has the positive research. Scientists have discovered limonoids that detoxify the liver, phytosterols that block the growth of tumors, isoflavones that help destroy uterine cancer cells and polyphenols that restore lagging immune systems.

These chemicals repair and nourish the body in various ways. The phenols found in black and red berries, grapes, and eggplant, for example, discourage the development of cancer by blocking the conversion of precursor molecules into carcinogens. Saponins, found in foods such as alfalfa and legumes, inhibit the growth of cancer cells by interfering with their DNA. And flavonoids, found in citrus fruits, red wine and dark chocolate, inhibit a chemical called estrogen synthase, an enzyme that binds estrogen to the receptors in several organs and that can lead to breast and uterine cancers.

It starts with the same process: Intercellular transduction. That’s a mouthful, but essentially it means that phytonutrients convey information in the body. During the conversion from plant chemical to human-body booster, a phytonutrient will bind to the receptor sites on individual cells. The cell receives a message via a series of enzymes, which then trigger the genes to express specific patterns.

For example, sulforaphane, a phytonutrient found in cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower and bok choy, helps to boost the body’s detoxification enzymes, which helps us to clear out potentially carcinogenic substances.

Why Food Is Your Best Source (Back to Top)

Eating a diet steeped in fruits, veggies, legumes and other plant-based foods (see “From Allicin to Zeaxanthin: The Phytonutrient Superstars”) is the best way to ensure you’re getting all the phytonutrients your body needs. While there are a growing number of phytonutrient supplements available, many experts warn consumers away from that option.

The big cautionary tale here is beta-carotene. In 1995, it was considered the ultimate panacea. “There was so much good research on beta-carotene,” says David Williams, PhD, a researcher at the Linus Pauling Institute at Oregon State University in Corvallis. “We were charting nice correlations between beta-carotene in the blood and lower cancer risk. Basically everybody just assumed that beta-carotene was chemo-protective.”

But to the shock of many in the scientific community, two major clinical trials in 1996 indicated that beta-carotene supplements were not only useless against cancer, but actually increased the risk of cancer in smokers.

“That was one of the first big disappointments, and it made people rethink the idea of going after individual phytochemicals,” says Williams.

Mark Farnham, PhD, a plant geneticist who specializes in phytonutrient research at a USDA facility in Charleston, S.C., concurs that current scientific consensus is now leaning toward emphasizing whole foods, rather than supplements, because plant chemicals seem to interact with one another in powerful ways. “There seems to be a synergistic effect between the chemicals in food,” he explains, noting also that this synergy is very hard to study because plant-based whole foods contain so many different bioactive compounds that it would be almost impossible to separate and study the potential health benefits of individual phytochemicals.

Plus, each chemical seems to have its own quirks. The carote-noids in collard greens, sweet potatoes and tomatoes, for example, are best absorbed if they are chopped, puréed or cooked, and eaten with a little fat, such as olive oil. But the glucosinolates found in cruciferous vegetables are most effective when eaten in their raw state and thoroughly chewed, so the plant cell walls release more of the cancer-fighting chemical. “There’s really no useful rule, because they’re all unique,” says Clevidence.

So eat as many fruits, veggies and other plant-based foods as you can, and be sure to choose foods from all around the color wheel — from ripe red tomatoes to princely eggplant to vivid oranges.

“If on a daily basis you incorporate at least seven different colors, you are much more likely to get a wide variety of these nutrients that are healing, that prevent degenerative disease, and that will go to work on every ? tissue, cell and organ of the body,” says nutritionist Ann Louise Gittleman, PhD, coauthor of The Fat Flush Plan (McGraw-Hill, 2002).

And don’t be afraid to go exotic with your color choices. Unusually hued foods add intrigue to your plate, and researchers at Washington State University have found that those foods can yield health benefits as well. Their 2006 study showed that wildly colored spuds contained more phytonutrients than white-fleshed potatoes.

If you need more motivation to eat your veggies, start a vegetable plot, and then chow down on the fruits of your labor. A 1991 study published in the Journal of Nutrition Education found that vegetable gardeners ate significantly more eggplant, sweet and hot peppers, summer squashes, tomatoes, and herbs than did nongardeners.

It’s also a smart idea to avoid pesticide- and herbicide-drenched produce by going organic. Last year, Bland completed a survey of some 50 organics-related research reports and found that the vast majority of organic produce supported higher levels of phytonutrients.

If vegetables don’t usually appeal to you, consider taking just one vegetable-centered cooking class. It might make all the difference, according to a 2005 study in the Journal of Nutrition Education and Behavior. After all, what sounds better: Brussels sprouts, or roasted Brussels sprouts with pine nuts and marjoram?

Ultimately, if your strategy for good health has been limited to popping vitamins, consider what you’re missing: a smorgasbord of beneficial phytonutrients found in wonderful, whole, plant-based foods. Besides, real food has been through the most extensive laboratory experiment ever conducted — natural selection. There’s nothing that’s been proven to nourish our bodies quite so well.

Although this article seems to imply that cooked veggies are good, don't believe it, raw is best, except for Tomatoes-they hold much of their goodidy goodness when cooked, BUT neither they nor any other veggie is nearly as good if cooked because the enzymes are toast[Pardon the pun].

Also vegetables in processed foods are no longer considered by the body as a recognized food source.

GETTING HEALTHY AND AFTERWARDS

Food tastes different when you haven't had chemical-laden highly processed and additive laced foods for a long time only real food. Let's say you visit a friend's house to eat you'll really notice the difference. And the next day you'll notice how sick you feel too. The tiny incremental changes we make in our diets make a huge difference in our lives and health.

I've been harping on this for nearly a year now on how we can eat better and more healthy and who knows not only live longer but live better?

I have known elderly people who are spry and just as intelligent and with-it mentally as they were when they were 30 years younger. I remember, in particular one old Indian Lady on the Nespelem Indian Reservation in Eastern Washington State who was 99the last time I saw her. She still had a huge garden, chopped wood and went to everyone else's funerals. Even now, 18 years later I'm sure there are still some elders living there who remember moving to the reservation in the early 1900's.

The younger generation was just as into fast foods and processed comestibles as the rest of the world, but the old timers ate roots and berries and grew their own good food, ate range-fed beef and raised chickens for food and eggs, they also used the chicken manure in their gardens. They lived long-full lives, a bit weaker toward the century mark but still going strong, they were not drooling on themselves in the nursing homes.

I hope to have a digest version of this blog going to be sent out once a week. I hope people will work with me to schedule regular chat times for the chatroom I've created for the exchange of ideas on the best ways to get and stay healthy.

An old, tired-looking dog wandered into the yard. I could tell from his

He followed me into the house, down the hall, and fell asleep in a corner.

An hour later, he went to the door, and I let him out.
The next day he was back, resumed his position in the hall, and slept for

Curious, I pinned a note to his collar: "Every afternoon your dog comes to

Upon opening the garage door, I noticed two additions: a baseball and a broken window sporting a baseball-sized hole. "How do you suppose this ball got in here?" I asked the boy.

Taking one look at the ball, one look at the window, and one look at me, the boy exclaimed, "Wow! I must have thrown it right through that hole!"

For all of these years, he had never thought about the box, but one
day the little old woman got very sick and the doctor said she would not

In trying to sort out their affairs, the little old man took down the
shoe box and took it to his wife's bedside.

She agreed that it was time that he should know what was in the box.
When he opened it, he found two crocheted dolls and a stack of money
totaling $95,000.
He asked her about the contents. "When we were to be married," she
said, " my grandmother told me the secret of a happy marriage was to never argue. She told me that if I ever got angry with you, I should just keep quiet and crochet a doll."

The little old man was so moved; he had to fight back tears. Only two
precious dolls were in the box. She had only been angry with him two
times in all those years of living and loving. He almost burst with
happiness.

"Honey," he said, "that explains the doll, but what about all of this money?
Where did it come from?"

"Oh," she said, "that's the money I made from selling the dolls."

COLON, COLON, WHAT'S GOOD WHAT'S BAD

Every article I've ever read about the colon begins, "Death begins in the colon." Just like that we start out on a negative note, but the news isn't all bad. There are strategies to have a healthy colon. The colon is the last place our waste goes to get any usable nutrients sucked out and added to our body's store of energy and food for our cells. It is also the place where if it is not healthy; all the impurities will leach out into our bodies and cause exhaustion, weakness, sicknesses of many kinds. Also the longer the waste lingers the more unpleasant goo gets into our body. The trick is to eat healthy raw enzyme-rich foods that are filled with soluble fiber that not only speeds the waste through the colon but scrapes the deposits that could cause sickness [cancer for one].

See previous blog entries:Candidiasis/Diabetes/alphabet disease connection
AND The Candidasis/Leaky gut/Diabetes connection

Some research studies involving mice suggest inadequate intake of folate, riboflavin and vitamins B-6 and B-12 leads to risk of DNA damage and increase the risk of colorectal cancers.

These B vitamins are prevalent in:
B-6 -including fortified cereals, beans, meat, poultry, fish, and some fruits and vegetables.
B-12- Meat, poultry, milk, eggs
Folate-Grains, Fortified breakfast cereal, Whole wheat products, Liver,Eggs,Beans, Sunflower seeds,[Vegetables—Excellent Source!], Asparagus,Leafy green vegetables
Oranges,Strawberries, Cantaloupes and other melons
riboflavin-Lean meats, eggs, legumes, nuts, green leafy vegetables, dairy products, and milk provide riboflavin in the diet. Breads and cereals are often fortified with riboflavin.

The research showed that it was the depletion of all four vitamins that caused changes in the Wnt pathway —a cellular signaling pathway linked to more than 85% of colon cancers. A mild depletion of all four B vitamins significantly increased the DNA damage localized at the Apc gene. The Apc (adenomatosis polyposis coli) gene is the tumor suppressor, and damage to it would cause a risk of forming tumors, like cancer,

So, is anyone researching any way to repair this gene? Or helping us all to understand what we can do to protect this gene?

As to colon cleansers while they are good for maintaining a free-flowing colon they are designed to make $$ for the manufacturers and According to The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center:
The bottom line is that colon cleansers don’t do anything to lower your risk of colon cancer. “A healthy diet (low in red meat and fat and high in fruits, vegetables, fiber and calcium), exercise, drinking in moderation and avoiding tobacco are the known elements that reduce colon cancer risk, “ Levin says. “Know your family history, and get screened earlier than age 50 if colon cancer runs in your family.

I would add it is essential to eat lots of fresh, raw vegetables, soluble fiber and severely cut down on all processed or fried foods. The fiber is important because any stool that sits around malingering in the colon will contribute to the death in the lower intestine and possibly early death From the bowel.

I do think that the occasional cleanse is a great idea to eliminate anything left in the bowel that our good eating plan may leave behind.

Calling God

A man in Kansas, decided to write a book about churches around the country. He started by flying to San Francisco, and started working east from there. Going to a very large church, he began taking photographs and making notes.

He spotted a golden telephone on the vestibule wall, and was intrigued with a sign which read, "$10,000 per minute."

Seeking out the pastor, he asked about the phone and the sign. The pastor answered that the golden phone is, in fact, a direct line to Heaven, and if he pays the price, he can talk directly to God.

The man thanked the pastor and continued on his way.

As he continued to visit churches in Seattle, Salt Lake City,Denver, Chicago, Milwaukee, and around theUnited States, he found more such phones, with the same sign, and the same explanation from each pastor.

Finally, the man arrived in the lovely state of North Carolina. Upon entering a church, behold: he saw the usual golden telephone. But THIS time, the sign read: "Calls: 25 cents"!

Fascinated, the man asked to speak with the pastor.

"Reverend, I have been in cities all across the country and in each church I have found this golden telephone, and have been told it is a direct line to Heaven, and that I could use it to talk to God..

But in 20 other churches, the cost was $10,000 per minute. Your sign says
25 cents per call. Why is that?

The pastor, smiling benignly, replied: "Son, you're in the South now and it's a local call.

Twenty years ago, I drove a cab for a living. One time I arrived in the middle of the night for a pick up at a building that was dark except for a single light in a ground floor window. Under these circumstances, many drivers would just honk once or twice, wait a minute, then drive away. But I had seen too many impoverished people who depended on taxis as their only means of transportation. Unless a situation smelled of danger, I always went to the door. This passenger might be someone who needs my assistance, I reasoned to myself.

So I walked to the door and knocked. "Just a minute", answered a frail, elderly voice. I could hear something being dragged across the floor. After a long pause, the door opened. A small woman in her 80's stood before me. She was wearing a print dress and a pillbox hat with a veil pinned on it, like somebody out of a 1940s movie. By her side was a small nylon suitcase. The apartment looked as if no one had lived in it for years. All the furniture was covered with sheets. There were no clocks on the walls, no knickknacks or utensils on the counters. In the corner was a cardboard box filled with photos and glassware.

"Would you carry my bag out to the car?" she said. I took the suitcase to the cab, then returned to assist the woman. She took my arm and we walked slowly toward the curb. She kept thanking me for my kindness.

"It's nothing", I told her. "I just try to treat my passengers the way I would want my mother treated".

"Oh, you're such a good boy", she said. When we got in the cab, she gave me an address, then asked, "Could you drive through downtown?"

"It's not the shortest way," I answered quickly.

"Oh, I don't mind," she said. "I'm in no hurry. I'm on my way to a hospice".

I looked in the rear view mirror. Her eyes were glistening.

"I don't have any family left," she continued. "The doctor says I don't have very long."

I quietly reached over and shut off the meter. "What route would you like me to take?" I asked.

For the next two hours, we drove through the city. She showed me the building where she had once worked as an elevator operator. We drove through the neighborhood where she and her husband had lived when they were newlyweds. She had me pull up in front of a furniture warehouse that had once been a ballroom where she had gone dancing as a girl. Sometimes she'd ask me to slow in front of a particular building or corner and would sit staring into the darkness, saying nothing.

As the first hint of sun was creasing the horizon, she suddenly said, "I'm tired. Let's go now."

We drove in silence to the address she had given me. It was a low building, like a small convalescent home, with a driveway that passed under a portico. Two orderlies came out to the cab as soon as we pulled up. They were solicitous and intent, watching her every move. They must have been expecting her. I opened the trunk and took the small suitcase to the door. The woman was already seated in a wheelchair.

"How much do I owe you?" she asked, reaching into her purse.

"Nothing," I said.

"You have to make a living," she answered.

"There are other passengers".

Almost without thinking, I bent and gave her a hug. She held onto me tightly.

"You gave an old woman a little moment of joy," she said. "Thank you."

I squeezed her hand, then walked into the dim morning light. Behind me, a door shut. It was the sound of the closing of a life.

I didn't pick up any more passengers that shift. I drove aimlessly, lost in thought. For the rest of that day, I could hardly talk. What if that woman had gotten an angry driver, or one who was impatient to end his shift? What if I had refused to take the run, or had honked once, then driven away?

On a quick review, I don't think that I have done anything more important in my life. We're conditioned to think that our lives revolve around great moments. But great moments often catch us unaware--beautifully wrapped in what others may consider a small one.

There was a huge accident on the interstate, a transport semi rolled over and cattle were all over the road, some were mooing some were dead on the road. Two young troopers showed up; drew their pistols from their holsters, one said to the other, "This one is severally injured." and he shot it.
The other said, "This one has a broken leg." and he shot that one. One by one they checked each out and put the out of their misery,finally one trooper came upon the driver who was shaking his head as if still dazed, The trooper asked, "How are you, Any injuries? What's wrong?" The driver looked up alarmed and replied, "Not a darned thing, I'm just fine, Really!"

As always I wish you all fine folks health and happiness, I also hope you spread that around: here is a blessing just for you: May the Lord bless you and keep you; may He make His face [cause his spirit] to shine on you and be gracious to you; may He lift up His countenance [smile] on you and give you peace. —Numbers 6:22-27 (NIV) explains why is this called the “Aaronic Benediction" (because it was spoken by the high priest Aaron).

Shingles/herpes/ rheumatoid arthritis/cold sores?

NEW CHATROOM FOR MEMBERS OF THE HEALTHWATCH CLICK HERE

What do they have in common? Well I was doing some researching today and found they And candidiasis may all be related.

(1)
Most people "know" herpes. They know it to be the sores, lesions, chicken pox, or shingles some unfortunate people get as a result of stress, infection, or other diseases. They think either you have herpes or you don't. They also know that, while herpes is no fun, in most cases, it's not a big deal either.
Most people are wrong. Dangerously wrong.
Up to 90% of the population carry the herpes virus--and have been from the age of 10 years or younger! The vast majority simply don't know it. In most people, the virus is dormant. But, that doesn't make it any less dangerous. Science is learning, with growing alarm, that the herpes virus is linked to an ever-growing list of very serious ailments. Some, you'd have never guessed.
For instance--heart attack. There's a growing body of evidence that a herpes virus called CMV triggers the clogging of your cardiac artery walls. 75% of all Americans over the age of 60 carry CMV with no observable symptoms.
Among other illnesses, various strains of the herpes virus have been shown to trigger rheumatoid arthritis, mononucleosis, chronic fatigue syndrome and Kaposi's sarcoma (a deadly type of skin cancer [related to HIV aids]).
The biggest problem, of course, is that herpes is a virus. By and large, medical science has no real answers to viruses of any kind.
This leaves most of us to go through our lives carrying the dormant virus like a time-bomb waiting to explode into shingles...rheumatoid arthritis... cancer...heart disease...or any one of the most lethal ailments inflicting our society today.
But, as frightening as the idea of a single uncontrollable culprit behind so many illnesses may be, there's a flip side:If there was something we could do about the herpes virus, we'd be eliminating a huge danger from our lives in one fell swoop!
The new Larrea compound was proven to be effective in a full 90% of the cases! This is an almost unheard of rate of effectiveness.
As time goes by, study cases just keep on piling high with success stories of amazing relief. What's more, the new compound is not only effective--it's also incredibly fast!
~~~
A woman suffering from recurrent oral herpes previously used acyclovir with only mixed results. After a single application of the Larrea preparation, lesions were completely healed within 12 hours--the pain and swelling were relieved immediately .
~~~
A male, 55 years of age, has herpes zoster (shingles) and possible candida yeast infection, which result in apparent skin rashes on the legs. The severity of pain reported before the use of LARREA was 7 on a scale of 1-10. Within 1 week the patient reported an improvement in pain severity to a level of 1. Lesions cleared within 24 hours.
~~~
A small study conducted in Philadelphia treated a number of patients with severe herpes simplex 1 and 2 and zoster (shingles) with both the Larrea preparation and capsules. The results? 100% success rate, usually within 24-48 hours! The clinicians also reported success using the lotion to avert impending outbreaks which are usually signaled by a tingling sensation.
Repeated tests showed that oral herpes outbreaks that last three to seven days were gone within 24 hours of the Larrea lotion application.
Shingles sufferers typically get complete relief within minutes!
Legend has it the Larrea tridentata, an ancient desert bush, was the first plant created in the world. True or not, the Larrea bush (known in the Southwest as the creosote bush or chaparral) is certainly a special plant with some truly amazing healing properties. Chief among these is its ability to make short work of such diverse afflictions as herpes (of any kind), rheumatoid arthritis, Kaposi's sarcoma, and shingles.
I found these sites where it can be purchased, I have no interest in either of these companies and will make nothing if you buy them, except I will be delighted if I can help someone renew their health.
When a woman came through my cashier's line at Wal-Mart, her purchase came to twenty dollars. "That's what I had in my hand. You must be psychic," she joked.
"I am," I teased. "I knew exactly how much you wanted to spend."
The next customer stepped up and, looking at me with a big grin, pulled out a one-dollar bill.
A priest and pastor from the local parishes are standing by the side of the road holding up a sign that reads, "The End is Near! Turn yourself around now before it's too late!"
They planned to hold up the sign to each passing car.
From around the curve they heard screeching tires and a big splash. "Do you think," said one clergy to the other, "we should just put up a sign that says 'Bridge Out' instead?"
Abbott and Costello meet Windows 95
Costello: Hey, Abbott!
Abbott: Yes, Lou?
Costello: I just got my first computer.
Abbott: That's great Lou. What did you get?
Costello: A Pentium II-266, with 40 Megs of RAM, a 2.1 Gig hard drive, and a 24X CD-ROM.
Abbott: That's terrific, Lou
Costello: But I don't know what any of it means!!
Abbott: You will in time.
Costello: That's exactly why I am here to see you.
Abbott: Oh?
Costello: I heard that you are a real computer expert.
Abbott: Well, I don't know-
Costello: Yes-sir-ee. You know your stuff. And you're going to train me.
Abbott: Really?
Costello: Uh huh. And I am here for my first lesson.
Abbott: O.K. Lou. What do you want to know?
Costello: I am having no problem turning it on, but I heard that you should be very careful how you turn it off.
Abbott: That's true.
Costello: So, here I am working on my new computer and I want to turn it off. What do I do?Abbott: Well, first you press the Start button, and then-
Costello: No, I told you, I want to turn it off.
Abbott: I know, you press the Start button-
Costello: Wait a second. I want to turn it off. Off. I know how to start it. So tell me what to do.
Abbott: I did.
Costello: When?
Abbott: When I told you to press the Start button.
Costello: Why should I press the Start button?
Abbott: To shut off the computer.
Costello: I press Start to stop.
Abbott: Well Start doesn't actually stop the computer.
Costello: I knew it! So what do I press.
Abbott: Start
Costello: Start what?
Abbott: Start button.
Costello: Start button to do what?
Abbott: Shut down.
Costello: You don't have to get rude!
Abbott: No, no, no! That's not what I meant.
Costello: Then say what you mean.
Abbott: To shut down the computer, press-
Costello: Don't say, "Start!"
Abbott: Then what do you want me to say?
Costello: Look, if I want to turn off the computer, I am willing to press the Stop button, the End button and Cease and Desist button, but no one in their right mind presses the Start to Stop.
Abbott: But that's what you do.
Costello: And you probably Go at Stop signs, and Stop at green lights.
Abbott: Don't be ridiculous.
Costello: I am being ridiculous? Well. I think it's about time we started this conversion.
Abbott: What are you talking about?
Survivors
TOALL THE KIDS WHO SURVIVED the 1930's 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's !!
First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they were pregnant. They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can, and didn't get tested for diabetes. Then after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs covered with bright colored lead-based paints.
We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets…not to mention, the risks we took hitchhiking.
As infants & children, we would ride in cars with no car seats, booster seats, seat belts or air bags. Riding in the back of a pick up on a warm day was always a special treat. We drank water from the garden hose and NOT from a bottle. We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and NO ONE actually
died from this. We ate cupcakes, white bread and real butter and drank koolade made with sugar, but we weren't overweight because ……. WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING !
We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on. No one was able to reach us all day. And we were O.K. We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem. We did not have Playstations, Nintendo's, X-boxes, no video games at all, no 150 channels on cable, no video movies or DVD's, no surround-sound or CD's, no cell phones, no personal computers, no Internet or chat rooms.......WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!
We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no lawsuits from these accidents. We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever. We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays, made up games with sticks and tennis balls and, although we were told it would happen, we did not put out very many eyes. We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just walked in and talked to them!
Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!! The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law! These generations have produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever! The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas. We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned HOW TO DEAL WITH IT ALL!
If YOU are one of them . . CONGRATULATIONS
Blessings and good wishes for increased health, Remember this is Boxing Day a day to give to those who serve us, to box up all those goodies they can use to remind them how valuable they are to us.
"Boxing Day is also known as the Feast of St. Stephen, named for the first Christian martyr. It originated in 19th century England under Queen Victoria, when it was the day "on which postmen, errand boys, and servants of various kinds received a Christmas box of contributions from those whom they serve," in the words of Charles Dickens. If you come from one of the unfortunate English-speaking nations that does not recognize Boxing Day, just remember that it comes right after "unboxing" day, Christmas." from: http://www.alphadictionary.com/goodword/today.jsp
THERE IS NO LIFE WITHOUT SILICA
I know I said I was taking a break from writing but I was researching this and I got so excited words just flowed out of me. This is without a doubt one of THE most important blog entries I've written so far.
NEW CHATROOM FOR MEMBERS OF THE HEALTHWATCH CLICK HERE
Nobel prize winner, Professor Adolph Butenant, proved that life cannot exist with out silica; an essential nutrient that facilitates the calcium we take to do it's work properly and for metabolic work vital to life. Silica's absence results in skeletal deformity.
Often hormonal disturbances can be traced to a calcium-magnesium imbalance. Silica can restore this imbalance. Silica also benefits the assimilation of Phosphorous.
Taking calcium supplements cannot halt the progress of osteoporosis, because without Silica the calcium doesn't get in the body the way it's supposed to. Silica can stop the progression and the pain of osteoporosis. Post-Menopausal women, who are especially vulnerable can benefit even more, they will have fewer bone fractures, which account for more deaths in that demographic than cancer of the breast, cervix, or uterus combined.
A skeletal de-mineralization from lack of assimilable calcium results in bones that are porous and brittle. A bone is made up of mostly Phosphorus, Magnesium, and calcium but also silica, and it is the silica that is responsible for depositing the calcium et al in the bones where it belongs. Silica will also speed the healing of fractures, and reduces the scaring at the site.
As more and more research is done, they are finding out more and more that silica is turned into calcium, and is called by many scientists as a precursor to calcium.
Silica will also halt the progress of degenerative connective tissue diseases. Collagen is made up largely of silica, so a youthful appearance is also dependant on Silica, and we'll feel younger also.
Silica helps prevent hair loss, prevents cavities in your teeth and makes fingernails grow long and strong.
Oh, that's not enough? OK
(1)
More Benefits!
• Silica has inhibitory effects on coronary diseases.
• Organic vegetal silica supplementation helps repair and maintain vital lung tissues and protects them from
pollution. By maintaining or restoring the elasticity of lung tissues, silica reduces inflammation in bronchitis.
It acts as a cough decreasing agent. Silica tones the upper respiratory tract (nose, pharynx, larynx) and
reduces swelling because of its positive action on the lymphatic system.
• Silica supplementation keeps menopause free of stress and helps to prevent many unwanted side-effects of
menopause; paramount being the development of osteoporosis. In men, too, the nervous system and glandular
network will gradually undergo changes that cause deterioration of vital body functions during menopause.
This can also be alleviated by using silica.
• Silica works with other antioxidants to prevent premature aging and to preserve youthfulness.
• New researches have found that antioxidants, like organic vegetal silica, protect against harmful radiation.
• Silica can help prevent kidney stones and heal infections of the urinary tract. It is a natural diuretic which can
increase excretion of urine by 30 percent, thus flushing the water-excreting system and restoring normal
function to these vital organs.
• The presence of sufficient silica in the intestines will reduce inflammation of the intestinal tract. It can cause
disinfection in the case of stomach and intestinal catarrh and ulcers. Silica can prevent or clear up diarrhea
and its opposite, constipation.
• Vegetal Silica will help normalize hemorrhoidal tissues.
• In regulating and normalizing the bowels, silica has a pleasant side effect; it can alleviate lower back pain,
which often troubles the elderly.
• Silica proves effective with female discharge, abscesses and ulcers in the genital area and cervix, as well as
mastitis (especially for breast feeding mothers).
• The intake of silica acts as a supportive treatment for inflammation of the middle ear. Because of the beneficial effectiveness on the lymphatic system, silica can be used for swelling of the lymph nodes in the throat.
• Silica can stimulate the immune system.
• Silica can normalize circulation and regulate high blood pressure (hypertension).
• Silica can decrease vertigo, headache, tinnitus (buzzing of the ears) and insomnia.
• Silica can help diabetes by promoting synthesis of elastase inhibitor by the pancreas.
• Silica can help arterial disease by strengthening the blood vessels.
• Silica can help prevent Tuberculosis.
• By improving the elasticity of the joints, silica helps rheumatism.
• Silica can help avoiding or alleviating Alzheimer.s disease by preventing the body from absorbing aluminum
and may flush out aluminum from the tissues.
• Silica can stimulate cell metabolism and division.
• Silica delays the aging process of the tissues; in younger people, the tissues typically contain more silica than
in older people.
• Silica increases mobility and reduces pain in osteoarthritis and sclerotic conditions.
• Silica beautifies hair with shine, elasticity and strength.
• Silica prevents wrinkles.
Silica is known to play a part in the integrity of the bones, arterial walls, skin, teeth, gums, hair and nails and has been used to alleviate eczema and psoriasis. Recently, research has focused on determining the role of silica in rheumatic disorders and arterial disease.
What a great idea it would be to begin an organic vegetal silica supplementation today.
In the past decade, and into the 21st Century, many well known doctors from across the globe have broken ranks with the conventional “Lipid Theorists” in espousing what they believe to be a more likely cause of arterial disease, and that is the accumulation of excess calcium plaque in coronary arteries. So all those rocky calcium tablets, tums, those multi's with all the promised calcium, the liquid supplements, once-a-month Boniva [hardy har har] you've been taking because someone said your bones needed calcium but forgot to tell you the whole story are only making you worse and you are wasting your money.
The Maker of all human beings is recalling all units manufactured, regardless of make or year, due to a serious defect in the primary and central component of the heart. This is due to a malfunction in the
original prototype units, code named Adam and Eve, resulting in the reproduction of the same defect in all subsequent units. This defect has been technically termed 'Sub-sequential Internal Non-Morality,' or
more commonly known as S.I.N., as it is primarily expressed. Some other symptoms include:
1. Loss of direction
2. Foul vocal emissions
3. Amnesia of origin
4. Lack of peace and joy
5. Selfish or violent behavior
6. Depression or confusion in the mental component
7. Fearfulness
8. Idolatry
KIDNEY TROUBLES
Before I get started I wanted to see if anyone would be interested in this blog as a newsletter, I can email each new blog entry as it is written and also I plan to expand the scope to reflect more of a contemporary health and nutrition alert newsletter style and natural healing kinds of entries, I'm really needing input so please comment either at webriter@verizon.net, or the chat feature-look to your right-or the comment feature on the bottom of this blog entry.
I originally began to investigate self-healing when I had no medical insurance and needed help, then I found out how dangerous were the practices of Allopathic medicine, not to mention what passes for food in our modern socety, so I studied in earnest how to take control of my own health. I recently heard a friend is having some kidney troubles so today I'm researching how to help control or at least find out the why of this particular illness...She says the doctor told her that although her urine doesn't look like it; she is bleeding from her kidneys[?]. This is not far off from the topic, as Diabetics often suffer from kidney disease, or renal failure. Indeed my friend has relatives with diabetes, so here goes....
Normally Kidney disease is a shutting down of the kidneys and the body is flooded with wastes and all of the problems accompanying that.
(1)
The Facts About Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD)
~26 million Americans have CKD and another 20 million more are at increased risk.
~Heart disease is the major cause of death for all people with CKD.
~Glomerular filtration rate (GFR) is the best estimate of kidney function.
~Hypertension causes CKD and CKD causes hypertension.
~Persistent proteinuria means CKD.
~High risk groups include those with diabetes, hypertension and family history of kidney disease.
~African Americans, Hispanics, Pacific Islanders, Native Americans and Seniors are at increased risk.
~Three simple tests can detect CKD: blood pressure, urine albumin and serum creatinine.
~One in Nine Americans Has Chronic Kidney Disease
~Nearly half of people with an advanced form of kidney disease do not know they have weak or failing kidneys, according to recent research published in the American Journal of Kidney Diseases, the official journal of the National Kidney Foundation
Symptoms of Chronic kidney disease are:
(2)
~Fatigue and weakness (from anemia or accumulation of waste products in the body)
~Loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting
~Need to urinate frequently, especially at night
~Swelling of the legs and puffiness around the eyes (fluid retention)
~Itching, easy bruising, and pale skin (from anemia)
~Headaches, numbness in the feet or hands (peripheral neuropathy), disturbed sleep, altered mental status (encephalopathy from the accumulation of waste products or uremic poisons), and restless legs syndrome
~High blood pressure, chest pain due to pericarditis (inflammation around the heart)
~Shortness of breath from fluid in lungs
~Bleeding (poor blood clotting)
~Bone pain and fractures
~Decreased sexual interest and erectile dysfunction
Aside from bleeding easily it doesn't really reflect my friend's experiences so far, so Let's keep looking....
According to National Kidney and Urological Diseases Information Clearinghouse (NKUDIC) Hematuria is caused by many things most of which are not serious, but that it is also a symptom of Chronic Kidney disease. That said, what can be done? We know conventional medicine will insist on "life-saving drugs" and Invasive Surgery, but if one is not interested in those sorts of "cures" what's left?
(3)
Cranberry
Makes urine more acidic. Eliminates buildup of bacteria. Helps heal the bladder.
~Acidophilus
Beneficial when taking antibiotics.
Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) plus
Decreases fluid retention.
~Choline
Decreases fluid retention.
~Inositol
Decreases fluid retention.
~Vitamin C with bioflavonoids
Makes urine more acidic. Promotes healing. Stimulates immune system.
Dandelion root
Eliminates waste from the kidneys. Helps with nephritis.
~Buchu tea
Buchu has traditionally been used to treat stomach problems, rheumatism, and urinary tract infections. Use hot water but do not bring to a boil.
~Dandelion Root Extract
This herb can help the kidneys eliminate waste products. It may also be helpful in treating nephritis.
~Cranberries
The benefits of cranberries have long been told by grandmothers to their grandchildren that cranberry juice will help to clear up urinary tract infections. Reports have stated that they also acidify the urine, remove bacteria that has built up, and fosters healing of the bladder. NOT THE SUPER SWEETENED FAMILIAR TV ADVERTIZED BRANDS, BUT THE REAL BERRIES WITH ENOUGH PUCKER TO TUCKER YOU OUT.
~Hydrangea & Uva Ursi
These two herbs can remove excess water from the body. One of the best first steps to take in cleaning the urinary tract and keeping it that way is to literally use diuretics to flush the urinary tract. This should assist the urinary tract from harboring harmful deposits of calcium or other mineral salts from being able to settle
~Marshmallow Tea
Responsible for cleaning the kidneys. NOT MARSHMALLOWS THAT CONTAIN HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP!
~SP-6 Cornsilk Blend
Solaray manufactures a product called SP-6 Cornsilk Blend. In addition, Nature's Way has a similar product called Kidney Bladder Formula that will also draw water retention.
~~Goldenrod Tea, Juniper Berries, Marshmallow Root, Nettle, Parsley, Red Clover, and Watermelon Seed Tea
These seven herbs may also be helpful for kidney disorders.~~
~Not listed but I strongly suspect that fermemted foods like sauerkraut will real help one to re-establish the proper flora killed off by repeated attack from antibiotics.
All of these can be purchased at an extremely reasonable price at:
Swanson Home Page
At least these products will help and not cause any harm, just in case something really bad is going on in those kidneys.
As for me I'm staying healthy by using::CellPower™ to cover the basics, also
FLAX SEED OIL for my colon, but of course
~Glutathione-the master antioxidant is a great helper to counteract many diabetic complications.
I've also added D-3 [from Swansons] two caps per day to ward off the evil colds and flus, no Mercury-laden flu shots for me!
~4 essential minerals for diabetics
~SELENIUMhelps immune system,fights infection and aids circulation
~MAGNESIUMhelps to relax you, aids stress and muscle relaxing
~CHROMIUMimproves insulin sensitivity, and helps lower blood sugar.
~ZINC especially to help you heal.
~coconut oil
My wife struggled with a career crisis: Should she quit her job? Knowing how panicked she was, I called our florist and sent her a bouquet with a card saying "I believe in you. Love, Mose."
Later she called to thank me. "But I'm confused by the card," she said.
"Really? Why?"
"Because it reads 'I be leaving you. Love, Mose.'"
With everything going on in the world at the moment, it is worth
reflecting on the death of a very important person, which almost went
unnoticed last week.
Larry LaPrise, the man that wrote "The Hokey Pokey" died peacefully at
the age of 93. The most traumatic part for his family was getting him
into the coffin. They put his left leg in. And then the trouble started.
Just once do Weeweechu with me…
One beautiful December evening Pedro and his girlfriend Rosita were sitting by the side of the ocean.
It was a romantic full moon, when Pedro said, "Hey, mamacita… let's do Weeweechu."
"Oh no… not now… let's look at the moon!" said Rosita.
"Oh, c'mon baby… let's you and I do Weeweechu. I love you, and it's the perfect time," Pedro begged.
"But I wanna just hold your hand and watch the moon," replied Rosita.
"Please, corazoncito… just once… do Weeweechu with me."
Rosita looked at Pedro and said, "OK… one time… we'll do Weeweechu."
Pedro grabbed his guitar, and they both sang…
"Weeweechu a Merry Christmas,Weeweechu a Merry Christmas,Weeweechu a Merry Christmas,
and a Happy New Year."
Beauty is from within
Remember The Fountain of Youth
(1)
When our bodies are functioning well, cells in our hair follicles called melanocytes generate pigments -- the chief one being melanin. When the melanocytes stop producing these pigments, we sprout a transparent hair, which appears as an unsightly gray due to the color of the dead cells that comprise the strand.
Why does this happen? The most common reason is heredity; premature gray hair is yet another thing we can blame on our parents. But there are also several medical conditions characterized by graying of the hair. A B-12 deficiency, a thyroid imbalance, and anemia can all cause premature gray hair. And if you needed yet another reason to quit smoking, there is new evidence that smokers are four times more likely to go gray at a young age.
I hear that getting older causes us to lose chroma, or color, our hair becomes a non-color, our faces lose elasticity and color, so the result is li'l ol' ladies with a clownish blush and bluish hair.
Smoking causes more wrinkles too, so it won't help looking youthful if one smokes, Ironic ain't it? We start smoking to make us look older and it carries right along into our dotage, we look older than we are. Ah, but by this time we don't want to look older.
(2)
Hair, Skin & Nails
Beauty Starts From Within
Brrrr! The winter season with its cold and dry weather can mean chapped lips, dry skin, cracked nails and brittle hair. Just because you’re not out in the sun as much these days doesn’t mean you can relax when it comes to maintaining a healthy beauty regimen.
Here’s a great tip…beautiful hair, skin and nails starts from the inside out. You can apply lotion and lip balm all day long, but unless you have the right nutrition you’ll always fight a loosing battle.
What goes into your body reflects like a mirror on the outside. Dehydration and poor food choices leave your body without the tools it needs to build collagen, strengthen connective tissues and repair itself with a ready supply of antioxidants.
Antioxidants
Eating antioxidant foods such as dark berries and citrus fruits can help minimize free radical damage caused by oxidation due to ordinary metabolic processes of the body and the environment such as, exercise, exposure to the environment, including pollution and sunlight and just plain aging.
Minerals
A diet with plenty of silica, calcium and iron promotes nail strength, supports vibrant hair and reduces breakage. Mineral-rich foods include sea vegetables, oats, whole grains, low-fat dairy and eggs. Mineral-rich botanicals include horsetail and gotu kola.
Hydration
Your body requires at least 8-10 glasses of purified water per day to cleanse and replenish cells; this is especially true if you work in an environment with air-conditioning or dry heat.
Sleep
Aim for a minimum of eights hours of sleep each night. Adequate sleep is necessary for skin and tissue repair and lessens the appearance of bags and dark circles under the eyes.
Getting a fresh and rejuvenated appearance this holiday can be simple, just remember that beauty starts from within.
(3)
Intrinsic Aging
Intrinsic aging, also known as the natural aging process, is a continuous process that normally begins in our mid-20s. Within the skin, collagen production slows, and elastin, the substance that enables skin to snap back into place, has a bit less spring. Dead skin cells do not shed as quickly and turnover of new skin cells may decrease slightly. While these changes usually begin in our 20s, the signs of intrinsic aging are typically not visible for decades. The signs of intrinsic aging are: *Fine wrinkles *Thin and transparent skin *Loss of underlying fat, leading to hollowed cheeks and eye sockets as well as noticeable loss of firmness on the hands and neck *Bones shrink away from the skin due to bone loss, which causes sagging skin
*Dry skin that may itch *Inability to sweat sufficiently to cool the skin *Graying hair that eventually turns white *Hair loss *Unwanted hair *Nail plate thins, the half moons disappear, and ridges develops.
The best way to look great at any age is to renew one's health and to cause one's body to respond the way it was intended to. We are supposed to repair ourselves, to heal from within, and our health should fairly burst out of our countenances with a shine, a glow, a glory of robust health.
Stay away from anything that isn't real food, or not prepared in a natural way [i.e. do not use the microwave], and do not use a bunch of chemically types of unguents or lotions, or soapy things that strip of us of essential skin oils and soak nasty poisons into our spongy skin.
Cookies
A young lady was waiting for her flight in the boarding room of a big airport.
As she would need to wait many hours, she decided to buy a book to spend her time. She also bought a packet of cookies. She sat down in an armchair, in the VIP room of the airport, to rest and read in peace. Beside the armchair where the packet of cookies lay, a a man sat down in the next seat, opened his magazine and started reading.
When she took out the first cookie, the man took one also. She felt irritated, but said nothing. She just thought: “What a nerve! If I was in the mood I would punch him for daring!”
For each cookie she took, the man took one too. This was infuriating her but she didn’t want to cause a scene. When only one cookie remained, she thought: “ah…What will this abusive man do now?”
Then, the man, taking the last cookie, divided it in half, giving one half to her. Ah! That was too much! She was much too angry now! In a huff, she took her book, her things, and stormed to the boarding place.
When she took her seat inside the plane, she looked in her purse for her eyeglasses, and, to her surprise, her packet of cookies was there…untouched, unopened! She felt so ashamed! She realized that she was wrong….She had forgotten that her cookies were kept in her purse.
The man had divided his cookies with her, without feeling angered or bitter….while she had been very angry, thinking that she was dividing her cookies with him. And now there was no chance to explain herself…nor to apologize.
There are four things you can never recover…
The stone… after the throw,
The word… after it’s said,
The occasion… after the loss, and
The time… after it’s gone.
What I've Learned by Having Boys – Part 1
1. A king size waterbed holds enough water to fill a 2000 sq. ft. house, 4 inches deep.
2. A 3-year old Boy's voice is louder than 200 adults in a crowded restaurant.
3. If you hook a dog leash over a ceiling fan, the motor is not strong enough to rotate a 42 pound Boy wearing Batman underwear and a Superman cape. It is strong enough, however, if tied to a paint can, to spread paint on all Four walls of a 20x20 ft. room.
4. You should not throw baseballs up when the ceiling fan is on….a ceiling fan can hit a baseball a long way.
5. The glass in windows (even double-pane) doesn't stop a baseball hit by a ceiling fan.
6. A six-year old Boy can start a fire with a flint rock even though a 36-year old Man says they can only do it in the movies.
What I've Learned by Having Boys – Part 2
7. Certain Legos will pass through the digestive tract of a 4-year old Boy.
8. Super glue is forever.
9. No matter how much Jell-O you put in a swimming pool, you still can't walk on water.
10. Pool filters do not like Jell-O.
11. VCRs do not eject "PB & J" sandwiches even though TV commercials show they do.
12. Marbles in gas tanks make lots of noise when driving.
13. The spin cycle on the washing machine does not make earthworms dizzy.
There was a huge accident on the interstate, a transport semi rolled over and cattle were all over the road, some were mooing some were dead on the road. Two young troopers showed up; drew their pistols from their holsters, one said to the other, "This one is severally injured." and he shot it.
The other said, "This one has a broken leg." and he shot that one. One by one they checked each out and put the out of their misery,finally one trooper came upon the driver who was shaking his head as if still dazed, The trooper asked, "How are you, Any injuries? What's wrong?" The driver looked up alarmed and replied, "Not a darned thing, I'm just fine, Really!"
JACK (age 3) was watching his Mom breast-feeding his new baby sister. After a while he asked: "Mom why have you got two? Is one for hot and one for cold milk?"
MELANIE (age 5) asked her Granny how old she was. Granny replied she was so
old she didn't remember any more. Melanie said, "If you don't remember you must look
in the back of your panties. Mine say five to six."
STEVEN (age 3) hugged and kissed his Mom goodnight. "I love you so much, that
when you die I'm going to bury you outside my bedroom window."
BRITTANY (age 4) had an earache and wanted a painkiller. She tried in vain to
take the lid off the bottle. Seeing her frustration, her Mom explained it was a
childproof cap and she'd have to open it for her. Eyes wide with wonder, the little
girl asked: "How does it know it's me?
SUSAN (age 4) was drinking juice when she got the hiccups. "Please don't give
me this juice again," she said, "It makes my teeth cough."
DI (age 4) stepped onto the bathroom scale and asked: "How much do I cost?"
MARC (age 4) was engrossed in a young couple that were hugging and kissing in
a restaurant. Without taking his eyes off them, he asked his dad: "Why is he
whispering in her mouth?"
CLINTON (age 5) was in his bedroom looking worried. When his Mom asked what was troubling him, he replied, "I don't know what'll happen with this bed
when I get married. How will my wife fit in?"
JAMES (age 4) was listening to a Bible story His dad read: "The man named Lot
was warned to take his wife and flee out of the city but his wife looked back and
was turned to salt." Concerned, James asked: "What happened to the flea?"
TAMMY (age 4) was with her mother when they met an elderly, rather wrinkled woman
her Mom knew. Tammy looked at her for awhile and then asked,"Why doesn't your skin fit your face?
The Sermon I think this Mom will never forget... "Dear Lord," the minister began,
with arms extended toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face.
"Without you, we are but dust." He would have continued, but at that moment my
very little daughter (who was listening!)leaned over to me and asked quite
audibly in her shrill little girl voice, "Mom, what is butt dust?"
