***********PARSLEY, SAGE, ROSEMARY AND THYME*********

Herbs have long been used for both their culinary flavor and their medicinal qualities, these among many others; are both: PARSLEY, SAGE, ROSEMARY AND THYME.

(1)
Parsley is believed to be indigenous to Sardinia, Turkey, Algeria, and Lebanon, where it still grows wild. Sardinian coins, until recent times, were minted with a parsley imprint. A member of the carrot family, there are more than thirty-seven different varieties, including broad-leaved, curly-leaved, Hamburg, and Neapolitan (Italian) parsley. The mild curly-leaved is prettier as a garnish, but the flat-leaved (Italian) is more tender and has a stronger, more intense flavor.
Parsley has a tangy, sweet flavor that helps bring out the flavor of other herbs and seasonings, particularly in soups and stews. The stems have a stronger flavor than the leaves; both are used to flavor sauces, soups, salads, omelets, and stuffings and as a decorative garnish for virtually any dish. Because of the high vitamin C and iron content of this herb, it should be added to foods whenever possible. Parsley's high chlorophyll content works to absorb odors and thus makes an effective after-dinner breath mint. Parsley is also available in the form of dried flakes, although these are lacking in both flavor and color compared to the fresh.
Raw parsley facilitates oxygen metabolism, cleanses the blood, dissolves sticky deposits in veins, maintains elasticity of blood vessels, facilitates removal of moderately sized kidney stones and gallstones, stimulates the bowel, treats deafness and ear infections, benefits the sexual system, and stimulates adrenal sections. Chewed after eating a meal heavy in garlic, it will eliminate halitosis (bad breath) because of its chlorophyll content. Parsley tea strengthens the teeth and makes a face lotion to increase circulation and bring color to the skin. Stir one teaspoonful of parsley leaves in a cup of hot water; cool, stir, and strain before drinking or using as a wash.

(2)
Sage is indigenous to northern Mediterranean regions, where it prefers the arid soil of hillsides, especially if it is chalky. Sage finds its most representative natural habitat in Dalmatia - on the chalky, practically bare, and very stony lands overhanging the Adriatic. It probably crossed the Alps along with the monks on their travels. Another member of the enormous mint family, this aromatic woody evergreen shrub has violet-blue flowers and woolly, gray-green leaves. Like many other foods, sage got into the pantry via the medicine chest. Its health-protecting advantages have been forgotten by many, but along the way most people have learned to like its flavor. The French produced so much sage at one time that they exported it in the form of tea; the Chinese became so fond of sage tea that they traded four pounds of their tea for one pound of sage.
Sage is available as fresh or dried leaves, the dried being generally preferred over the fresh leaves. The flavor of sage may be described as warm, pungent, slightly bitter yet lemony, with just a hint of camphor. Chopped fresh or dried leaves are added to salads, kebabs, stuffings, squash dishes, beans, pickles, and cheese. The most popular use of sage is as an ingredient in stuffing at Thanksgiving, but it should be used throughout the year.
Sage is one of those herbs that has been used to cure a multitude of ills. One of its properties is to aid in the digestion of heavy, greasy meats, preventing their oxidation, and thus sage is a common ingredient in pork, sausage, and duck recipes. Its action focuses on the mouth, the throat, and the female reproductive system. It increases estrogen and helps treat menopausal sweats. It has long been regarded as a tonic that keeps the stomach, intestines, kidneys, liver, spleen, and sexual organs healthy (although it may temper sexual desire). Sage is stimulating and cleansing to the skin and scalp, soothing to sore muscles, and restorative to aging skin and hair, encouraging hair growth if the roots have not been destroyed. Its stimulating qualities increase circulation and relieve headaches, break fevers, and help reduce respiratory congestion and other cold symptoms. For sparkling teeth, rub them with fresh sage leaves; this will not only whiten and clean the teeth, but also strengthen the gums and make the breath pleasant. Because sage contains sclereol, which stimulates the body to produce its own estrogen, it may nutritionally support the body during the childbearing years and menopause. It may also help us in coping with despair and mental fatigue.

(3)
In addition, rosemary is a valuable culinary herb. It is a member of the mint family, which includes other popular seasonings such as basil, oregano, sage, and thyme. Rosemary is a common ingredient in French and Italian dishes. It can be used to flavor stews, entrees, soups, and casseroles, and may be added to various dressings. It is a component of the popular Italian seasoning.
Rosemary can also be tastefully added to dishes that feature potatoes, squash, tomatoes, peas and carrots. When used sparingly, rosemary adds an interesting flavor to cakes, baked apples and biscuits. The flavor of rosemary is at its best when the leaves are harvested at the time the plant is in bloom. The youngest stems contain the leaves that are the most fragrant.
The fresh or dried leaves and flowering tops of rosemary are used for a variety of medicinal benefits. In traditional European medicine, rosemary has been used internally as a tonic, stimulant, and as a carminative to treat flatulence. It is also used to treat dyspepsia, mild gastrointestinal upsets, colds, headaches, and nervous tension. In India and China, rosemary leaves are used to treat headaches.
Early in American history rosemary was used as an antispasmodic, to stimulate the appetite and improve digestion. Today, rosemary is recognized for its ability to stimulate bile secretion and for its anti-inflammatory properties. People gargle rosemary tea to help heal mouth ulcers and canker sores.

(4)
A delicate looking herb with a penetrating fragrance, thyme is a wonderful addition to bean, egg and vegetable dishes. Both fresh and dried thyme is available in your local supermarket throughout the year.
Thyme leaves are curled, elliptically shaped and very small, measuring about one-eighth of an inch long and one-sixteenth of an inch wide. The upper leaf is green-grey in color on top, while the underside is a whitish color. Along with fresh sprigs of parsley and bay leaves, thyme is included in the French combination of herbs called bouquet garni used to season stock, stews and soups.
Thyme has a long history of use in natural medicine in connection with chest and respiratory problems including coughs, bronchitis, and chest congestion. Only recently, however, have researchers pinpointed some of the components in thyme that bring about its healing effects. The volatile oil components of thyme are now known to include carvacolo, borneol, geraniol, but most importantly, thymol.
Significant Anti-Oxidant Protection of Cellular Membranes
Thymol - named after the herb itself - is the primary volatile oil constituent of thyme, and its health-supporting effects are well documented. In studies on aging in rats, thymol has been found to protect and significantly increase the percentage of healthy fats found in cell membranes and other cell structures. In particular, the amount of DHA (docosahexaenoic acid, an omega-3 fatty acid) in brain, kidney, and heart cell membranes was increased after dietary supplementation with thyme. In other studies looking more closely at changes in the brains cells themselves, researchers found that the maximum benefits of thyme occurred when the food was introduced very early in the lifecycle of the rats, but was less effective in offsetting the problems in brain cell aging when introduced late in the aging process.
Thyme also contains a variety of flavonoids, including apigenin, naringenin, luteolin, and thymonin. These flavonoids increase thyme's antioxidant capacity, and combined with its status as a very good source of manganese, give thyme a high standing on the list of anti-oxidant foods.

As for me, I stay healthy with my 1/2 raw, fresh veggie diet, lots of fiber, very little meat [only chicken or fish], I stay active and use CellPower™ because for one thing it does have lots of digestive enzymes in it, also it helps to balance the pH levels and is antibiotic, anti-viral-and anti-fungal AND IT PACKS THE CELLS WITH LIFE-GIVING OXYGEN, AND ENERGY.
And:SELENIUMhelps immune system, fights infection and aids circulation
~MAGNESIUMhelps to relax you, aids stress and muscle relaxing
~CHROMIUMimproves insulin sensitivity, and helps lower blood sugar.
~ZINC especially to help you heal.
I also eat, one of the best fats for the Omega-3~6 balance and losing weight.
~coconut oil

I work in a central reservation office of an airline. After more than 130,000 conversations -- all ending with "Have a nice day and thanks for calling" -- I think it's fair to say that I'm a survivor.
I've made it through all the calls from adults who didn't know the difference between a.m. and p.m., from mothers of military recruits who didn't trust their little soldiers to get it right, from the woman who called to get advice on how to handle her teenage daughter, from the man who wanted to ride inside the kennel with his dog so he wouldn't have to pay for a seat, from the woman who wanted to know why she had to change clothes on our flight between Chicago and Washington (she was told she'd have to make a change between the two cities) and from the man who asked if I'd like to discuss the existential humanism that emanates from the soul of Habeeb.
In five years, I've received more than a boot camp education regarding the astonishing lack of awareness of our American citizenry. This lack of awareness encompasses every region of the country, economic status, ethnic background, and level of education. My battles have included everything from a man not knowing how to spell the name of the town he was from, to another not recognizing the name of "Iowa" as being a state, to another who thought he had to apply for a foreign passport to fly to West Virginia. They are the enemy and they are everywhere.
In the history of the world there has never been as much communication and new things to learn as today. Yet, after asking a woman from New York what city she wanted to go to in Arizona, she asked "Oh...is it a big place?"
I talked to a woman in Denver who had never heard of Cincinnati, a man in Minneapolis who didn't know there was more than one city in the South ("wherever the South is"), a woman in Nashville who asked, "Instead of paying for my ticket, can I just donate the money to the National Cancer Society?", and a man in Dallas who tried to pay for his ticket by sticking quarters in the pay phone he was calling from.
I knew a full invasion was on the way when, shortly after signing on, a man asked if we flew to exit 35 on the New Jersey Turnpike. Then a woman asked if we flew to area code 304. And I knew I had been shipped off to the front when I was asked, "When an airplane comes in, does that mean it's arriving or departing?" I remembered the strict training we had received -- four weeks of regimented classes on airline codes, computer technology, and telephone behavior -- and it allowed for no means of retaliation. "Troops," we were told, "it's real hell out there and ya got no defense. You're going to hear things so silly you can't even make 'em up. You'll try to explain things to your friends that you don't even believe yourself, and just when you think you've heard it all, someone will ask if they can get a free round-trip ticket to Europe by reciting 'Mary Had a Little Lamb'."
Well, Sarge was right. It wasn't long before I suffered a direct hit from a woman who wanted to fly to Hippopotamus, NY. After assuring her that there was no such city, she became irate and said it was a big city with a big airport. I asked if Hippopotamus was near Albany or Syracuse. It wasn't. Then I asked if it was near Buffalo. "Buffalo!" she said. "I knew it was a big animal!"
Then I crawled out of my bunker long enough to be confronted by a man who tried to catch our flight in Maconga. I told him I'd never heard of Maconga and we certainly didn't fly to it. But he insisted we did and to prove it he showed me his ticket: Macon, GA.
I've done nothing during my conversational confrontations to indicate that I couldn't understand English. But after quoting the round-trip fare the passenger just asked for, he'll always ask: "...Is that one-way?" I never understood why they always question if what I just gave them is what they just asked for. Then I realized it was part of the hell Sarge told us about.
But I've survived to direct the lost, correct the wrong, comfort the weary, teachU.S.geography and give tutoring in the spelling and pronunciation of American cities. I have been told things like: "I can't go stand-by for your flight because I'm in a wheelchair." I've been asked such questions as: "I have a connecting flight to Knoxville. Does that mean the plane sticks to something?" And once a man wanted to go to Illinois. When I asked what city he wanted to go to in Illinois, he said, "Cleveland, Ohio."
After 130,000 little wars of varying degrees, I'm a wise old veteran of the communicating conflict and can anticipate with accuracy what the next move by "them" will be. Seventy-five percent won't have anything to write on. Half will not have thought about when they're returning. A third won't know where they're going; 10 percent won't care where they're going. A few won't care if they get back. And James will be the first name of half the men who call.
But even if James doesn't care if he gets to the city he never heard of; even if he thinks he has to change clothes on our plane that may stick to something; even if he can't spell, pronounce, or remember what city he's returning to, he'll get there because I've worked very hard to make sure that he can. Then with a click of the phone, he'll become a part of my past and I'll be hoping the next caller at least knows what day it is.
Oh, and James..."Thanks for calling and have a nice day."

Circle Flies
A Republican cowboy from Texas attends a social function where
Hillary Clinton is attending, and trying gather more support for her
nomination. Once she discovers the cowboy is a Republican, she starts
to belittle him by talking in a southern drawl and single syllable
words.
As she was doing that, she kept swatting at some flies that were
buzzing around her head. The cowboy says, "Y'all havin' some problem
with them circle flies?"
She stopped talking and said, "Well yes, if that's what they're
called. But I've never heard of circle flies."
"Well ma'am," the cowboy replies, "circle flies hang around ranches.
The y're called circle flies because they're almost always found
circling around the back end of a horse."
"Oh," Hillary replies as she goes back to rambling. But, a moment
later she stops and bluntly asks, "Are you calling me a horse's ass?"
"No, ma'am," the cowboy replies, "I have too much respect for
citizens of New York to call their Senator a horse's rear end."
"That's a good thing," she responds and begins rambling on once more.
After a long pause, the cowboy, in his best Texas drawl says, "Hard
to fool them flies though."

HURRY-UP DISEASE, McLIFE UNDER PRESSURE

hurry, Hurry, I can't wait
and now, OH NO! I'm running late,
can't even stop to think things through,
AND SCARED TO SLOW, OH WHAT TO DO?
It results in road rage, violent reactions to small annoyances, wild errors of judgement, and other rudenesses. It's also very unhealthy.
One day as I was working at a snail's pace job, I decided to get lunch and do my banking at the same time. I rushed over to the bank and was not first in line for the ATM, I finally got the envelope, filled it out adding my [at least signed] check and at the last second [hurried, and self-harried] I tucked in a hundred dollar bill I was given to help me out, and ...forgot to add it to my totals or the deposit slip!
Oh I had the deposit receipt, FOR THE WRONG AMOUNT. I gobbled some fried fast-food lunch and rushed back to a job where no one minded if I'd been late a bit or not. Later that night I realized what I'd done. The next day I called and found out my check [only] had been credited to my account. I later called and got the whole situation fixed, but with all that hurrying, stress had broken out on me like pimples before prom night, my stomach hurt and I was so sick.

I was terribly afflicted with hurry-up, but that day I had to start s-l-o-w-i-n-g d-o-w-n. I had to or I'd make another expensive mistake. And the next time I might not be able to fix it.

I learned to stop when stuff got to be too much and take huge breaths holding them and letting it out slowly, to stop and think, to rest and just be...

Oh I forget from time to time, because I thrive on multi-tasking, I hate being still, being quiet, doing only one thing at a time, but I have to be slow. and it's an effort.

There is another story of a lady, Dorothy, who had a terrible infection inside her hands, they itched, as she said, "Way down in her bone marrow." she scratched until her hands were raw, she couldn't wash dishes or bathe without gloves on her hands, She took medication after medication, and the relief was transitory. Then she finally learned her infection was fungal in nature that fed on the tissues beneath the skin. Armed with this knowledge she knew suddenly what she needed to do. she quit feeding the fungus. She fasted for three days at a time to cut off the food supply. She knew even though she wasn't getting much relief from the itching that she was on the right path.

(1)
The lesson, of course, is clear. We, too, must persevere in the ways of health. At any time, Dorothy might have chosen the ways of drugging to relieve the immediate pain. Like so many others, she too could have soothed away the pain and the discomfort with products of the chemist's art, those "instant relief" pills and potions. It would have been so easy, so quick; but Dorothy had learned that drugs only appear to give health, that they present only a false facade.
When we are very young, our bodies are filled to overflowing with vital energy, the return to health may occur with amazing speed; but when we are older, the return may be elusive and taunt us with its tantalizing slowness, as was true in Dorothy's case. But, regardless of our age and our condition, we must remain steadfast in our goal to attain superior health. We must persevere in the ways of health. We must not be victims of the "hurry-up" disease!

I can' wait at the stop sign, I tap my foot at the slowness of my computer even with DSL, I whisper hurry hurry hurry at the snail pace of the rest of the world. It's called Time urgency impatience, and it seems the whole world has it.

(2)
"Time urgency impatience is what physicians call this chronic sense of pressure, and it’s become an epidemic among multitasking Americans. We log more hours at work than citizens of any other industrialized nation, and 40 percent of us drink three or more caffeinated beverages a day just to keep up the pace. That helps explain why more than half our adult population experience significant stress regularly and get less than the eight hours of sleep needed for good health and optimum performance.
“We have a deeply neurotic and dysfunctional relationship with time,” says Carl Honore, author of In Praise of Slowness: How a Worldwide Movement Is Challenging the Cult of Speed. “Benjamin Franklin said ‘time is money,’ and we don’t want it wasted or stolen. We put quantity ahead of quality and internalize an inner psychology of speed that values saving time and maximizing efficiency.”
It’s our health that pays the price. Time urgency impatience has been associated with a nearly twofold increase in hypertension, and it’s one of the traits that make Type A’s twice as likely as mellower Type B’s to develop heart disease. According to a report in the Journal of the American Medical Association, about 42 percent of young adults suffer from potentially risky levels of TUI, with high levels more common among women and Caucasians. “My guess is that TUI is on the rise,” says study author Lijing L. Yan, Ph.D., M.P.H."

Here are some slow-down strategies that will put time back on your side:

(3)
"TRYING TO DECELERATE in a hit-the-gas world isn’t easy...
1. Set priorities. Make a conscious decision about what you consider important, and let your schedule (and your attitude) reflect your intentions. For example, if relationships and health are high on your list, turn off the TV to free up time for taking walks with friends.
2. Do one thing at a time. When you multi task, it becomes impossible to concentrate, feel deeply, or think clearly. “Doing two or more things at the same time splits our consciousness in two or more ways,” observes meditation teacher Eknath Easwaran.
3. Wake up right. “Set your alarm clock early, but don’t get up when it rings,” suggests Paul Pearsall, Ph.D., author of The Last Self-Help Book You’ll Ever Need: Repress Your Anger, Think Negatively, Be a Good Blamer, & Throttle Your Inner Child. “Lie there a few minutes and practice the savoring response: Think about who and what is worth getting up for and the privilege of being awake in such a rushed yet wonderful world.”
4. Take off your watch. “People hurry up when they see a clock, which is why stores don’t have clocks–they want us to linger,” says Honore, who experiences less anxiety since he unstrapped his own watch. Because there are clocks everywhere–in cars and on cellphones and computers–he’s still punctual, but no longer feels like a slave to time. Test this yourself by going “watch-free” on evenings and weekends.
5. Listen to relaxing music. “Your body synchronizes to the rhythms around you,” says psychologist Sharon Heller, Ph.D., author of Too Loud, Too Bright, Too Fast, Too Tight. Look for music that’s paced to a relaxed heartbeat, about 60 beats per minute.
6. Resist road rage, “See every traffic jam as a meditation assignment,” Pearsall advises. There are few better opportunities to practice positive thinking and forgiveness or perform your deep-breathing exercises.
7. Find your center. Techniques such as meditation and yoga allow you to access patience. “Practices that bring you into stillness and quiet turn off the stress response,” says Peg Bairn, N.P., director of training at the Mind-Body Medical Institute, and an associate in medicine at Harvard Medical School. “They help you recharge your batteries and come back into alignment with who you really are.”

Along with TUI comes self-judgement that can only result in depression or worse. Give yourself a break, let yourself fail, and be gentle with it, Why? Failure isn't the end of the world, it's the beginning. Now you know at least one thing that doesn't work, you can begin to strategize into finding the right thing to do. I used to rush to fix my mistakes, they were something to quickly bury and forget, but now I must see that they are a good thing, a cherished step towards perfection. so what if other's find out, they don't know your process, they only look for results and push their own insecurities off on you to cover their mistakes. We are not responsible for someone Else's mental health we can only serve by example.

A woman named Shirley was from Beverly Hills. One day, she had a heart attack and was taken to Cedars Sinai hospital. While on the operating table, she had a near-death experience. She saw God and asked, "Is this it?" God said, "No, you have another 30 to 40 years to live." Upon her recovery, she decided to stay in the hospital and have collagen shots, cheek implants, a face lift, liposuction and breast augmentation. She even had someone dye her hair. She figured since she had another 30 to 40 years, she might as well make the most of it. She walked out of Cedars Sinai lobby after the last operation and was killed by an ambulance speeding up to the hospital. She arrived in front of God and said, "I thought you said I had another 30 to 40 years?" God replied, "Shirley! I didn't recognize you!"

A pirate was talking to a "land-lubber" in a bar. The land-lubber noticed that, like any self-respecting pirate, this guy had a peg leg, a hook in place of one of his hands and a patch over one eye. The land-lubber just had to find out how the pirate got in such bad shape. He asked the pirate,

"How did you loose your leg?" The pirate responded,

"I lost me leg in a battle off the coast of Jamaica!" His new acquaintance was still curious so he asked,

"What about you hand. Did you loose it at the same time?"

"No," answered the pirate. "I lost it to the sharks off the Florida Keys." Finally, the land-lubber asked,

"I notice you also have an eye patch. How did you loose your eye? The pirate answered,

"I was sleeping on a beach when a seagull flew over and pooped right in me eye." The land-lubber asked,

"How could a little seagull poop make you loose your eye?" The pirate snapped,

"It was the day after I got me hook!"

no pain, NO PAIN, how to cope

This is a very long entry I considered cutting it in two, but decided not to so the information would all hold it's value. When one exercises pain is inevitable but how can we cope and still go one to exercise again tomorrow when what we did today is making us so stove up we can hardly wiggle?

Right after we exercise and we've done, maybe a bit more than we usually do and we sit to rest for a while before going back for more; our muscles tell us, "Hey, no more, I've had enough, in fact I'm doing my best to see that you can't get up right now and hop back on that bicycle." That's because when we exercise; food for our muscles floods our muscles cells, so they have the energy and strength to do the job we are asking of them.

If we just stop without cooling down that food just sits in our muscles and does what undigested food always does, rots. That's what is causing the pain.

(1)
Lactate is a very dynamic substance. First, when lactate is produced, it will try to leave the muscles and enter neighboring muscles, the bloodstream or the space between muscle cells where there is a lower concentration of lactate. It could end up in another muscle nearby or some place else in the body.

Second, when lactate is taken up by another muscle, it will probably be turned back into pyruvate and be used for aerobic energy. Training increases the enzymes that readily convert pyruvate to lactate and lactate to pyruvate. Lactate can also be used by the heart as a fuel or go to the liver and be turned back into glucose and glycogen. It can move from one part of the body to another quickly. There is even evidence that some lactate will turn back into glycogen in the muscles.

Ordinarily, a muscle which can use pyruvate for energy will get it from glycogen stored in the muscle. However, if excess lactate is available in the bloodstream or adjoining muscles, much of this lactate will be transported to the muscle and will be converted to pyruvate. The muscle fiber that can use the pyruvate may be right next to the muscle fiber that cannot use it. Lactate also circulates in the bloodstream and can be picked up by other muscles in other parts of the body. Some of the muscles which may eventually use the lactate may be relatively inactive, such as the arms of a runner.

Is lactate harmful? Yes and no, but mostly no. When lactate is produced in the muscles, excess hydrogen ions are produced with the lactate. If there is substantial accumulation, the muscles become very acidic. These hydrogen ions cause problems with the contraction of muscles for exercise. Athletes describe a "burning" or a "tightening" of the muscles as performance disintegrates. Most of these hydrogen ions originate with the lactate. When lactate is produced, the hydrogen ion is produced; when lactate leaves the cell, hydrogen ions leave the cell with the lactate. Thus, lactate isn't the cause of muscle fatigue. But it is directly related to the acidity, which is thought to be the real cause. While athletes hate this burning sensation, it is really a defense mechanism against muscle damage. Too much acidity can break down muscle fiber. There is speculation that one of the causes of overtraining is too much training at levels that produce high acid levels.

There [are] two kinds of pain when working out;

1. Mild to moderate pain. Something you feel when you are doing an exercise such as squats. Just your tight muscles stretching and filling with blood.

2. Severe pain.-DOMS-[delayed reaction pain- This is pain you feel long after you have exercised. Such as the felling of someone sticking knives into you and turning them. Last for several days.

This type of pain is telling you that you are lifting too heavy and are tearing your muscles. You need to stop until the pain goes completely away, cut back considerably on your weights, and re-start your lifting program again.

A good workout is a combination of exercise, followed by rest (you build mass and strength during the rest, not during the exercise. The heavier you lift; the longer time you need to rest. I lift heavy once a week), followed by time (it takes 3 months to see any changes, 6 months for better changes, 12 months for good changes, 5 years for great changes!), patience (see months, before), and determination (you will have days when you do no exercise! It does not matter. Exercise when you can - the end results will still be the same!)

STRATEGIES FOR EXERTION PAIN ARE:
(3)
Every morning and evening, hammer out the kinks. Using your fists, gently thump the outside of your body, starting with your legs and arms, working from top to bottom. Then move inward to your torso and thump from bottom to top. "Pummeling your muscles and bones will help strengthen the body, stimulate blood circulation, and relax nerve endings," ...When done in the morning, this self-massage technique will waken and prepare your body -- and mind -- for the day ahead. When done before bed, it calms down the mind and beats out the stress and tension of the day. One warning: If you're taking any kind of blood thinner, such as Coumadin (warfarin), avoid this one; you could wind up with bruising.

Rub yourself down before and after exercise. Massaging your body before your stretching, cardio, or strength training increases blood flow to the muscles. Massaging your muscles after exercise may help encourage waste removal and speed muscle recovery. Before exercise, use a pummeling motion with your fists to bring blood flow to your leg and arm muscles. After exercise, rub along your muscles with your palm or fist, moving in the direction of your heart.

Lactate may be one of the most important energy fuels in the body. Let us banish once and for all the bad publicity that lactic acid has attracted for so long and elevate it to its rightful place as one of the most important of the body’s fuels’...Crucially, lactate actually helps to produce energy. It is created during glycolysis, which literally means the breakdown of glucose. Glucose is derived from the carbohydrate we eat, and glycolysis kick starts chemical processes within our muscles that produce the energy required for sustained muscular contraction. Without glycolysis we would be unable to sustain exercise for more than a few seconds

Another type of exercise soreness

(5)

MECHANISMS of INJURY
For many years the phenomenon of DOMS has been attributed to the buildup of lactate in the muscles after an intense workout. However, this assumption has been shown to be unrelated to DOMS. The perceptions of pain and soreness that result from intense eccentric exercise are not related to lactate buildup at all. ...Blood and muscle lactate levels do rise considerably during intense eccentric and concentric exercise, however values for blood and muscle lactate return to normal within 30-60 minutes post exercise. Concentric exercise produces two-thirds more lactate than does eccentric exercise. If DOMS was brought on by the accumulation of lactate in the muscles, there would me more of an incidence of DOMS after concentric exercise than that of eccentric exercise. Furthermore, blood lactate levels drop to normal values within 60 minutes of an intense exercise bout. The symptoms of DOMS peak within 24-48 hours after an intense eccentric exercise bout when blood lactate levels have been at normal levels for a considerable amount of time.

Typical symptoms often associated with DOMS include strength loss, pain, muscle tenderness, stiffness, and swelling. Loss of strength usually peaks within the first 48 hours of an exercise bout, with full recovery taking up to 5 days. Pain and tenderness peak within 1-3 days after exercise and typically subside within 7 days. Stiffness and swelling can peak 3-4 days after exercise and will usually resolve within 10 days. It is important to note that these symptoms are not dependant on one another and do not always present at the same time.

If you work out hard but not very regularly, you're especially likely to have sore muscles afterward. Taking vitamin-E supplements before you exercise can help prevent that, a study at Tufts University Medical School in Boston found. Men who took 1,000 international units (IU) of vitamin-E supplements daily for three months reported less muscle soreness after workouts than did those who took a placebo, says researcher Jennifer Sacheck, Ph.D., who also looked for evidence of muscle damage in their blood. Both sexes should benefit the same, she says, and 200-400 IU of vitamin E daily may be enough to prevent pain for everyone.

The current recommended daily intake of natural vitamin E from foods such as nuts and vegetable oils is 22 U or 33 IU of synthetic. The maximum recommended intake from supplements is 1,500 IU of natural E, 1,100 IU of synthetic.

This doesn't generally work for those with Fibromyalgia, or Rheumatoid arthritis, or who are aged, and also certain injuries. While it is believed that moderate exercise can really help those with FMS, heavy exercise can really knock them for a loop.

Rheumatoid arthritis sufferers know that they will pay for every bit of exercise they engage in, and since it's necessary for all of us, even folks in wheelchairs, low-impact is best below are some great tips for exercising with Rheumatoid arthritis, I think it's sound advice for all of us who experience severe pain after exertion. Especially the cooling down part.

(7)
Before Exercise:
Apply heat or ice treatments to the area you will be exercising. Heat relaxes your joints and muscles and helps relieve pain. Cold also reduces pain and swelling for some people. Be sure to apply the heat or cold correctly. Heat treatments should feel soothing and comfortable, not hot. Apply heat for about 20 minutes. Use cold for 10 to 15 minutes at a time. For more advice on proper use of heat or cold, contact your local Arthritis Foundation for a copy of the booklet Managing Your Pain.
Warm up. Do gentle range-of-motion and strengthening exercises at least 10 to 15 minutes before more vigorous endurance-type exercise. Begin your activity at a slow pace and gradually work to a faster pace. Taking the time to warm up before exercising will help you prevent injuries.
Wear comfortable clothes and shoes. Your clothes should be loose and comfortable for easy movement. Layering your clothes will help you adapt to changes in temperature and activity level. Your shoes should provide good support, and the soles should be made from non-slip, shock-absorbent material. Wearing shock-absorbent insoles also can make your exercise more comfortable.
During Exercise:
Don't hurry. Exercise at a comfortable, steady pace that allows you to speak to someone without running out of breath. Exercising at this pace gives your muscles time to relax between each repetition.
Breathe while you exercise. Don't hold your breath. Exhale as you do the exercise, and inhale as you relax between repetitions. Counting out loud during the exercise will help you breathe deeply and regularly.
Be alert for "warning signs." Stop exercising right away if you have chest tightness or severe shortness of breath or feel dizzy, faint or sick to your stomach. If these symptoms occur, contact your doctor immediately. If you develop muscle pain or a cramp, gently rub and stretch the muscle. When the pain is gone, continue exercising with slow, easy movements. You may need to change position or the way you are doing the exercise. A good general rule is to stop exercising if you start having sharp pain or more pain than usual. Pain is your warning signal that something is wrong.
After Exercise:
Cool down for five to 10 minutes. This helps you cool off, lets your heart slow down and helps your muscles relax. To cool down, simply do your exercise activity at a slower pace, such as walking slowly. Also try gentle stretching to avoid stiff or sore muscles the next day.

For me heat is the ticket, after days like today when I've mowed and trimmed [hey that trimmer weighs a ton, and it makes my shoulders and arm ache afterwards] I've found that allowing myself to hurt for too long,-- ok I'm a stoic-type, I rarely stop what I'm doing just because it hurts--results in pain that lasts and lasts even up to a year or more. I got tendonitis from being on the telephone too long- it lasted over a year, rendering my left arm and shoulder completely unusable all that time. My muscles on my left side spasm from stroke damage and if I continue an activity that causes the spasming that pain just lingers, the gift that KEEPS ON GIVING! Anyway I love heat, long lobster dips in my tub- ok I'm careful, but my skin tolerates heat better than most people's.

I also like heating pads and my Nikken farinfrared machine [KenKo wave] to reduce pain. The other day I was holding a paperback book that was so exciting that even tho' my hand was spasming I kept on reading, and my wrist hurt so bad atfterwards, making sleep difficult, I put the Nikken machine on it and away was the pain in about an hour after I took it off the pulse.

I also believe that my CellPower™ Is helping me overcome so many problems I've had.
Some more help that I need, for weight control, is coconut oil

Never borrow from the future. If you worry about what may happen tomorrow and it doesn't happen, you have worried in vain. Even if it does happen, you have to worry twice.
1. Pray
2. Go to bed on time.

The summer band class I taught was just getting underway when a large insect flew into the room. The sixth-graders, eager to play their shiny new instruments, tried to ignore the buzzing intruder, but eventually one student, Tommy, could stand it no more.

He rolled up his music book and swatted the insect and then stomped on it to ensure its fate.

"Is it a bee?" another student asked.

"Nope," Tommy replied. "Bee flat."

Three contractors were touring the White House on the same day.

One was from New York, another from Missouri and the third from Florida. At the end of the tour, the guard asked them what they did for a living. When they each replied that they were contractors, the guard said, "Hey, we need one of the rear fences redone. Why don't you all take a look at it and give me your bids."

First the Florida contractor took out his tape measure and pencils, did some measuring and said, "I figure the job will run about $900 - $400 for materials, $400 for my crew, and $100 profit for me."

Next was the Missouri contractor. He also took out his tape measure and pencil, did some quick calculations and said, "Looks like I can do this job for $700 - $300 for materials, $300 for my crew, and $100 profit for me."

Finally, the guard asks the New York contractor for his bid. Without batting an eye, the contractor says, "$2700."

The guard, incredulous, looks at him and says, "You didn't even measure like the others did! How did you come up with such a high figure?"

"Easy," says the contractor from New York, "$1000 for me, $1000 for you, and we hire the guy from Missouri."

HAVE A GREAT DAY, BE BLESSED AND HEALTHY

DIET FOODS MADE TASTY AND HEALTHY

There are some lovely herbs and spices one can use to make diet foods both more palatable and healthier.

Rosemary:
(1)

Rosemary oil can be distilled from the leaves of the plant, mixed with a vegetable oil, and used for massage. Applied externally this oil is used for relief from muscular and arthritic pain. In Europe, rosemary oil is used to treat rheumatic conditions, bruises, and circulatory problems. When applied externally the oil appears to stimulate an increased blood supply. In addition, rosemary oil or some freshly cut sprigs can be added to bath water to soothe aching muscles and joints.

Ginger:

It is a wonderful flavorer and an anti-emetic [stops nausea] it helps with sea-sickness, it has been shown to diminish the risk of blood clots forming and increase bleeding time since ginger extracts inhibit the clumping of human platelets,it has an enzyme which assists in the elimination of cancer-causing substances from the body and is a strong antioxidant, similar to vitamin C.
Ginger has also been used in the treatment of vertigo, for colic, lack of appetite, for vomiting associated with morning sickness in pregnancy, and rheumatic complaints. Ginger is used as a digestive aid since it promotes the secretion of saliva and gastric juices and increases the action of peristalsis in the intestines. In the past, ginger was used to relieve flatulence and prevent belching. The oil in ginger contains compounds which relieve coughing and are reported to have analgesic and fever-reducing properties.

I find it's best as an appetite increaser so I rarely use it.

Onions and garlic:

Garlic belongs to the genus Allium along with the leeks, onions, shallots, and chives. Allium plants are perennials and usually form underground bulbs. The garlic bulb contains a cluster of 5 or more secondary bulbs called cloves. The cloves are harvested and used either fresh, dried, or powdered. The cut cloves have a pungent odor and strong flavor, due to the presence of many sulfur compounds...Garlic has been the subject of hundreds of scientific studies. Garlic has a broad spectrum antibiotic activity inhibiting the growth of a variety of microorganisms, including bacteria such as Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, Salmonella, E. coli; molds and yeasts such as Candida albicans; influenza and herpes viruses; and parasites. Garlic can also kill Helicobacter pylori, the bacteria associated with peptic ulcers. Garlic was used in Africa by Albert Schweitzer for the treatment of amebic dysentery. Garlic has been used to treat a variety of respiratory conditions such as colds and flu symptoms, coughs, bronchitis, and sinus congestion.
Studies have shown that garlic effectively reduces the risk of a heart attacks and stroke. A regular use of garlic can lower blood cholesterol levels and possibly raise HDL cholesterol levels. An analysis of 40 clinical studies revealed that, on average, one-half to one clove of garlic per day can reduce elevated blood cholesterol levels by about 10 percent and blood triglyceride levels by about 13% of the initial value.
Garlic also lowers blood pressure levels due to its vasodilator properties and may be useful for patients with mild hypertension. In addition, garlic inhibits the formation of blood clots. In a well-controlled clinical study in the elderly, high-dose garlic powder significantly reduced the growth of atherosclerotic plaque by almost 20 percent and even achieved a slight regression over a 4 year period. Garlic also has some ability to lower blood glucose levels, especially in patients with diabetes.

In fact, Garlic is the ONLY substance that works to kill gram negative bacteria.

Did you see that? I want to say it again; Garlic also has some ability to lower blood glucose levels, especially in patients with diabetes.

Cinnamon:
In folk medicine it was used for treating rheumatism and other inflammations. Its mild anti-inflammatory, anti-spasmodic, and anti-clotting properties are believed to be due to its content of cinnamaldehyde. Cinnamon extracts are active against Candida albicans, the fungus responsible for vaginal yeast infection, and also Helicobacter pylori, the bacterium responsible for stomach ulcers. The antimicrobial properties of cinnamon are thought to be due to eugenol and a derivative of cinnamaldehyde.

Cinnamon extracts have also inhibited the growth of cultured tumor cells. This effect may be due to the presence of procyanidins and eugenol in the bark extract. Cinnamon is also useful as a food preservative to inhibit the growth of common food-borne bacteria such as Salmonella and E coli.

And don't forget cinnamon really works to lower blood sugar levels too. It needs to be used in greater quantities than just for flavor, I really douse my oatmeal with it,[oatmeal is a flavor-sucker anyway] to make use of it's glusose controlling powers.

Don't forget that cell power

A Florida senior citizen drove his brand new Corvette convertible out of the dealership. Taking off down the road, he floored it to 80mph, enjoying the wind blowing through what little hair he had left. "Amazing!" he thought as he flew down I-75, pushing the pedal to the metal even more.

Looking in his rear view mirror, he saw the highway patrol behind him, blue lights flashing and siren blaring. "I can get away from him. No problem!" thought the elderly gent as he floored it to 100 mph, then 110, then 120 mph.

Suddenly, he thought, "What on earth am I doing? I'm too old for this nonsense!" and pulled over to the side of the road and waited for the Trooper to catch up.

Pulling in behind him, the Trooper walked up to the driver's side of the Corvette, looked at his watch and said, "Sir, my shift ends in 30 minutes. Today is Friday. If you can give me a reason why you were speeding that I've never heard before, I'll let you go."

The man, looking very seriously at the Trooper, said, "Years ago, my wife ran off with a Florida State Trooper. I thought you were bringing her back. "
