***************PHARMAKEIA****************
GAL 5:19-20
The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

The Greek word used here is "pharmakeia" and it means... to dispense medication or poison, sorcery, witchcraft...

Already we can see our modern word for drugs- phamacopia, [see also pharmacy- the place where drugs are distributed to people to mask symptoms rather than cure or heal.....]has its beginnings in a place none of us wants to think about.

(1)
It should be noted that prescription drugs do not heal, and in most cases simply mask the problem prolonging agony, never approaching the root cause of the disease. The sad fact is, most doctors today do not attempt to heal their patients, instead they prescribe drugs for pain management, keeping patients on a never
ending drug merry-go-round. Toxic drug ingredients build up within the body and eventually cause damage to vital organs which leads to death.
Basically, taking drugs = shorter lifespan.

(2)
A little background on "Pharmakeia" which is also a feminine noun that can be used collectively, it references the herbalist of the time who were almost always female. It was one of the few businesses available to single women, herbalism was complex so there was an aura of secrecy to it. They also were fond of saying incantations or using symbolic items etc to increase the "mystery" around their practice. It gave them both power and prestige, it would have also increased their incomes and perhaps the more mystical it appeared the greater price people were willing to pay for their "potions". These women challenged the authority structure of both Paul's church and the society of the time in general. The ability to heal, poison, abort fetuses, etc. gave them an incredible amount of power and would have created a diversion from God and Christianity. So, you have that aspect of that term used here.
Later, there are frequent references in church writings (not scripture) referring to abortionist using the term "pharmakeia". Outside of the church Plutarch uses the term pharmakeia in reference to contraception and abortion.
Clement of Alexandria identifies pharmakeia as an abortifacent.
An early church council in the capital of Galatia referenced adulterous woman who who avail themselves to pharmakeia for abortion.

Vine's Expository Dictionary of New Testament Words
an adjective signifying "devoted to magical arts," is used as a noun, "a sorcerer," especially one who uses drugs, potions, spells, enchantments, Rev. 21:8, in the best texts (some have pharmakeus), and Rev. 22:15.

Plato writes of Pharmakeia the Naias Nymphe of a poisonous spring near Athens, Orithyia is swept away by Boreas while she was playing with Pharmacia. Later Socrates compares the written texts Phaedrus has brought along to pharmakon, he describes it as both a cure and poison.

(3)
In 1976, doctors in Los Angeles went on strike because of the rising cost of malpractice insurance. All elective and non-emergency surgery and medical
attention were canceled. During that time, 18 percent fewer people died than usual.

(4)
While stopping short of concluding the antidepressants definitely cause suicide,the FDA warned that they might do so in a small percentage of children and adults. Inthe debate over drug-induced suicide, little attention has been given to the FDA’sadditional warning that certain behaviors are “known to be associated with these drugs,”including “anxiety, agitation, panic attacks, insomnia, irritability, hostility, impulsivity,akathisia (severe restlessness), hypomania, and mania.”From agitation and hostility to impulsivity and mania, the FDA’s litany ofantidepressant-induced behaviors is identical to that of PCP, methamphetamine andcocaine—drugs known to cause aggression and violence. These older stimulants andmost of the newer antidepressants cause similar effects as a result of their impact on aneurotransmitter in the brain called serotonin.

A few case histories of violent behavior of children taking anti-depressants
(5)
As a psychiatrist and as a medical expert, I have examined dozens of cases of individuals who have committed suicide or violent crimes while under the influence of the newer antidepressants such as Prozac, Zoloft, Paxil, Luvox and Celexa. In June in South Carolina, Christopher Pittman will go on trial for shooting his grandparents to death while they slept. Chris was twelve when his family doctor started him on Zoloft. Three weeks later the doctor doubled his dose and one week later Chris committed the violent acts. In other cases, a fourteen-year-old girl on Prozac fired a pistol pointblank at a friend but the gun failed to go off, and a teenage boy on Zoloft beat to death an elderly woman who complained to him about his loud music.

Oh I just had to add this:

Just One Example of How Prescription Drugs Destroy Lives and a Safe Alternative
Take this pill and you may become addicted to gambling, sex, or even paint your home a dozen times. What pill does that, you ask?
Mirapex!
That is the accusation made by hundreds of lawsuits, which have been brought against Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals (BIP), the drug company that manufactures Mirapex.
Originally conceived for treatment of Parkinson’s disease back in the 90’s, BIP scientists recently discovered another market for Mirapex: People who have something termed Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS).
With this expanded market for RLS now in view and coupled with aggressive TV ads, BIP has increased annual Mirapex sales to $235 million in 2004 (up 63% from one year earlier).
Consequences: We reap what we sow.
People taking Mirapex are finding themselves feeling powerful urges to gamble, shop, have sex and eat compulsively. Many have stated that they find these urges uncontrollable, resulting often in broken marriages, bankruptcy, and host of psychological problems including depression and suicide. Many encounter legal problems in addition to everything else as a result of these compulsions.
There are even cases where the complainants have painted their homes ten to fifteen times in the course of two months, and other idiosyncratic behaviors. In virtually every alleged case, the person involved had no prior history of obsessive or compulsive behaviors.
Documented Mirapex clinical study side effects include, enlarged abdomen, suicide, peripheral vascular disease, heart failure, atrial fibrillation, arrhythmia, convulsions, cataract, glaucoma, and prostate disorders.
Under the American Medical Association’s (AMA) guidelines, Mirapex falls under what the AMA calls “acceptable risk.”

But then with all these other problems your restless legs are a minor problem!

As a Christian I'm to trust that God will heal me. I can most certainly help this process by; as Hippocrates said "make my food my medicine". AND...

(7)
The Bible teaches Christians to be sound of mind. "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour" (I Peter 5:8). The Greek word translated as "sober" is nepho, which literally means "drink no wine." From this it derived a broader meaning being self-controlled, free of confusion, clear headed, sound of mind, or keeping your head.
Because of this, Christians are to avoid intoxicants that cloud clear thinking. For example, alcohol is a depressant which can lower a person's inhibitions. Hosea links the use of alcohol with fornication. "Their drink is rebellion, they commit harlotry continually. Her rulers dearly love dishonor" (Hosea 4:18). Habakkuk warns, "Woe to you who make your neighbors drink, who mix in your venom even to make them drunk so as to look on their nakedness!" (Habakkuk 2:15). The reference to "mix in your venom" is the ancient practice of adding herbs (or drugs) to wine to make its intoxicating effects more potent. Christians have a hard enough time battling temptations with making Satan's job easier by taking drugs that alter one's judgment and self-control.
Drug abuse was also closely associated with witchcraft and sorcery. The Greek word pharmakeia literally means "to administer drugs." As with our English word "drugs," the context must be considered to determine the meaning. If I say, "He is using drugs to control his cancer" we understand that it is for medicinal purposes. However, if I say, "He is using drugs at parties" we understand that it is recreational usage, or drug abuse that is being considered. According to Vine, pharmakeia "primarily signified 'the use of medicine, drugs, spells'; then 'poisoning'; then, 'sorcery.' In other words, pharmakeia has a range of meanings depending on the context. Strong indicates the same thing: "medication, by extension magic, literally or figuratively, sorcery, witchcraft."

If you reject this idea, celebrate satan and/or believe witchcraft is enlightenment, just go ahead and disreguard this entry. You may have my share of all the psychotropic drugs and indeed all other drugs as well!

I think I'd rather try getting healthy with natural methods first....some supplements for it include
*Iodine *Selenium *Zinc *Vitamin D *Vitamin E *Antioxidants
*Essential Fats *Amino Acids

I'm taking Thyromine, it has Adrenal Powder from Bovine, ginger, Guglipid, Nori, Piper Longu, Thyroid Powder From Bovine, and L-Tyrosine. You can check out the website to see what each ingredient does. It starts at $39.95 for a month's supply.
I'm also still working to get rid of the diabetes so I'm taking:
CellPower™ because for one thing it does have lots of digestive enzymes in it, also it helps to balance the pH levels and is antibiotic, anti-viral-and anti-fungal AND IT PACKS THE CELLS WITH LIFE-GIVING OXYGEN, AND ENERGY. And:SELENIUMhelps immune system,fights infection and aids circulation

A father wanted to read a magazine but was being bothered by his little
girl, Shelby. She wanted to know what the United States looked like.
Finally, he tore a sheet out of his new magazine on which was printed
the map of the country. Tearing it into small pieces, he gave it to
Shelby and said, 'Go into the other room and see if you can put this
together. This will show you our whole country today.'
After a few minutes, Shelby returned and handed him the map, correctly
fitted and taped together. The fathe r was surprised and asked how she had
finished so quickly. 'Oh,' she said, 'on the other side of the paper is a
picture of Jesus. When I got all of Jesus back where He belonged, then our
country just came together.'

God and the Scientist
God was sitting in heaven one day when a scientist said to Him,
"God, we don't need you anymore. Science has finally figured out a way to create life out of nothing - in other words, we can now do what you did in the beginning."
"Oh, is that so? Tell Me..." replies God.
"Well," says the scientist, "we can take dirt and form it into the likeness of you and breathe life into it, thus creating man."
"Well, that's very interesting...show Me."
So the scientist bends down to the earth and starts to mold the soil into the shape of a man.
"No, no, no..." interrupts God, "Make your own dirt."

Accident
There was an engineer, manager and programmer driving down a steep mountain road.
The brakes failed and the car careened down the road out of control.
Half way down the driver managed to stop the car by running it against the embankment narrowing avoiding going over a cliff.
They all got out, shaken by their narrow escape from death, but otherwise unharmed.
The manager said "To fix this problem we need to organize a committee, have meetings, and through a process of continuous improvement, develop a solution."
The engineer said "No that would take too long, and besides that method never worked before. I have my trusty pen knife here and will take apart the brake system, isolate the problem and correct it."
The programmer said "I think you're both wrong! I think we should all push the car back up the hill and see if it happens again."

IS DHEA THE FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH?

I now have a digest version of this blog to be sent out once a week.

The link for receiving the digest is: Natural health Watchit is interactive so people can comment on the articles and help me get ideas for other articles. Or you can simply sign up by writing to me at webriter@verizon.net or mark_my_bailey@yahoo.com.

As we age we lose our ability to have maximum Adrenal gland function and the loss of this function leads to problems such as we normally see in aging.

DHEA as a precursor, stimulates the Adrenal gland to begin to release androgens and estrogens that start declining as we are in our 30's. Levels of natural DHEA are are reported to be low in some people with anorexia, end-stage kidney disease, type 2diabetes (non-insulin dependent diabetes), AIDS, adrenal insufficiency, and in the critically ill. Actually drugs like insulin, corticosteroids, opiates, and danazol will also deplete the body's natural production of Androgens and estrogens. It looks like a balancing act here, especially for diabetics.

Acne is a common reported side effect in clinical trials. The most common complaints in patients with HIV include fatigue, nasal congestion, and headache. In women, the most common side effects are abnormal menses, emotional changes, headache, and insomnia. There are rare reports of rapid/irregular heartbeats or palpitations. People taking DHEA supplements may be more prone to develop blood clots or liver damage.

Some of the uses for which DHEA has been used with various success:

Capsules/Tablets:
~Adrenal insufficiency/Addison's disease : 20-50mg doses taken daily by mouth for up to nine months

~Cardiovascular disease : 25mg daily for up to 12 weeks

~Crohn's disease/ulcerative colitis : 200 milligrams daily

~Depression : 30-90 milligrams per day

~Erectile dysfunction : 50mg daily

~Hypopituitarism : 50mg daily

~Muscle strength : 100mg daily for up to one year

~Obesity : 25-100mg daily for up to six months has been used

~Osteoporosis : 5-200mg daily has been used for three months.

~Schizophrenia : Up to 100mg daily for six weeks has been used.

~Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE): 20-200mg daily DHEA has been used for up to one year

Intravenous:

~Dementia (multi-infarct) : 200 milligrams of DHEA daily has been studied for multi-infarct dementia given intravenously. Safety is not established.

~Induction of labor : 10mg intravenously has been used, twice weekly after 38 weeks gestation until onset of labor.

Cream:

~Menopausal symptoms : A 10 percent cream rubbed over a 20-centimeter by 20-centimeter area on both thighs once daily has been used for vaginal discomfort associated with menopause.

~Skin aging : DHEA (5%) in ethanol:olive oil (1:2) was topically applied to buttock skin of volunteers 12 times over 4 weeks to help with skin aging in one study.

~Vaginal atrophy : 10% cream, applied to 20x20cm area on both thighs once daily has been used.

The Mayo clinic assigns the following grades to the efficasy of DHEA for the following reasons:
Adrenal insufficiency -B, Depression -B, Obesity-B, Systemic lupus erythematosus -B,
Alzheimer's disease -C, Bone density -C, Cardiovascular disease -C, Cervical cancer-C, Chronic fatigue syndrome -C, Cocaine withdrawal -C, Critical illness -C, Crohn's disease -C, HIV/AIDS -C, Menopausal disorders -C, Induction of labor -C, Infertility -C, Myotonic dystrophy -C, Psoriasis -C, Rheumatoid arthritis -C,
Schizophrenia -C, Septicemia-C, Sexual function / libido / erectile dysfunction-C,
Sjogren's syndrome -C, Skin aging -C, Fibromyalgia-D, Immune system stimulant -D,
Memory -D, Muscle strength -D,
explanation of grading: ~B Good scientific evidence for this use
~C Unclear scientific evidence for this use
~D Fair scientific evidence against this use (it may not work).

Check the source of this information of this information-the flagship of all Allopathic medicine-The Mayo Clinic.... Allopaths always think drugs work best.

However:I have seen Schizophrenics on drugs, not much help there, Also I've seen how helpful the very expensive treatments for Psoriasis are,* Not very*, so if these two examples are any indication a grade of B or C is so much better than the help you can get from conventional medicine. If the Mayo Clinic gives even grudging credit to DHEA it must have some benefit.

One word of caution/information however while wild yams are the source of DHEA the body can't just take wild yams and make useable DHEA from wild yams, it must be synthesized to function. From all the reasearch I've see this does seem t be the case.

Dr. Ray Salahian who has his own formulation of DHEA says "DO NOT TRUST ANYONE - NO MATTER WHAT THEIR CREDENTIALS - WHO SAYS A DHEA SUPPLEMENT IS SAFE IN HIGH DOSES WHEN TAKEN FOR PROLONGED PERIODS. Without a doubt, high doses of DHEA have side effects, sometimes quite serious.".

I've given you the gist of what I've found, please check out the sources for yourself and make up your own mind.

I'm eating a diet of locally grown whole fresh foods, purified water and, I'm taking :CellPower™ to cover the basics, also
FLAX SEED OIL for my colon, but of course
~Glutathione-the master antioxidant is a great helper to counteract many diabetic complications.
~4 essential minerals for diabetics
~SELENIUMhelps immune system,fights infection and aids circulation
~MAGNESIUMhelps to relax you, aids stress and muscle relaxing
~CHROMIUMimproves insulin sensitivity, and helps lower blood sugar.
~ZINC especially to help you heal.
~coconut oil

Just Stay

A nurse took the tired, anxious serviceman to the bedside.

"Your son is here," she said to the old man.

She had to repeat the words several times before the patient's eyes opened.

Heavily sedated because of the pain of his heart attack, he dimly saw the young uniformed Marine standing outside the oxygen tent. He reached out his hand. The Marine wrapped his toughened fingers around the old man's limp ones, squeezing a message of love and encouragement.

The nurse brought a chair so that the Marine could sit beside the bed.All through the night the young Marine sat there in the poorly lighted ward, holding the old man's hand and offering him words of love and strength. Occasionally, the nurse suggested that the Marine move away and rest awhile.

He refused. Whenever the nurse came into the ward, the Marine was oblivious of her and of the night noises of the hospital - the clanking of the oxygen tank, the laughter of the night staff members exchanging greetings, the cries and moans of the other patients.

Now and then she heard him say a few gentle words. The dying man said nothing, only held tightly to his son all through the night.

Along towards dawn, the old man died. The Marine released the now lifeless hand he had been holding and went to tell the nurse. While she did what she had to do, he waited.

Finally, she returned. She started to offer words of sympathy, but the Marine interrupted her.

"Who was that man?" he asked.

The nurse was startled, "He was your father," she answered.

"No, he wasn't," the Marine replied. "I never saw him before in my life."

"Then why didn't you say something when I took you to him?"

"I knew right away there had been a mistake,

but I also knew he needed his son, and his
son just wasn't here.

When I realized that he was too sick to tell

whether or not I was his son,

knowing how much he needed me, I stayed."

The next time someone needs you ... just be there. Stay.

LULLABYE AND GOODNIGHT, the nightmare of insomnia

Please note there is a remedy search function to the right>>>>see: type in a health problem get the solution.

I've had insomnia all my life, I was sleep deprived from an early age. I'd lie awake at night worrying, I'd worry about my grades, my family, and when I couldn't think of anything to worry about, I'd worry about that.

I tried every cure known to mankind, I finally found that by listening to a tuneless 'music' tape over and over all night allowed me to fall and stay asleep all night. Well I can't do that now that I'm married, my husband who falls asleep very easily doesn't like the 'music'.

I was working but I never got enough sleep and I was rummy all day, I made stupid mistakes and was not a good employee, I had to quit the job and try to get well. I found out that my blood pressure was causing me to wake a lot every night. Now the High blood pressure isn't an issue but the frequent bladder-attacks are. I am healing from the diabetes, and even if I go way off my diet I am keeping my blood sugar within the proper ranges. Even my recent pH readings are for a normal person now staying at 7.25.

Sleep, however is sometimes still a problem. The CellPower™ cellpower~natural cures,natural alternative medicine,body rescue alkalizing,most alkalizing,alkalizing drops,body ph health<br />natural healing,cell health,oxygenate,cellpower,detoxify really helps but my body has a life-long habit of living a tortured night-life.

Once I start having a sleep problem I have a hard time breaking it again, I really try not to even think, "tonight I will not sleep." If I do I will have a hard time.
I read recently that women are more damaged by lack of sleep than men.

In fact:If you're a woman, you have an added risk: hypertension. Researchers found that women who get less than five hours of sleep at night had double the risk of having high blood pressure than women who sleep seven hours or more. Men are not so afflicted.

Sleep restriction can affect your endocrine system (including your adrenal glands, which handle stress) and inflammation (all illnesses ending in 'itis'). Getting less than seven hours of sleep at night for several nights in a row affects your memory, attention, and mood. It has also been 'proven' that a lack of sufficient sleep can cause depression.

One way to counteract the effects of a temporary insomnia is to take Melatrol- safe and natural~ valerian for pain relief and Magnesiuim for a great muscle relaxant .

(1)

Many people complain that they can’t fall asleep or stay asleep, or that they are sleepy during the day, but few consider these to be symptoms of a sleep disorder. Sleep deprivation is a symptom of a sleep disorder.

Particular behaviors during normal daytime activities are telltale signs of sleep deprivation. If you are experiencing one or more of the following symptoms during the day, you may not be getting enough restful sleep at night, and you may even have a sleep disorder.

Do you . . .

often get told by others that you look tired?
have difficulty with your memory?

have emotional outbursts?
feel like taking a nap almost every day?
require caffeinated beverages to keep yourself going?

If this is you, there are methods to cope,
~a bed that is comfortable really helps.
~And I find regular sleeping habits is also key,
~As I said before a pleasing white noise is also beneficial.
~If you are in pain, that will really cause problems also. A nice hot bath [my panacea for ills involving pain]. And possibly some hot cocoa, the old warm milk trick does work if you like milk.
~Serotonin levels that no longer as high as they were in one's youth can contribute to sleeplessness, so adding them back in the form of GABA a precursor of HGH, human growth hormone, will be efficacious, see the Swanson's link above right, they have the cheapest form of GABA anywhere, it really really works to reverse many signs of aging, I took it for a long time, also helps with sleep, it even reverses grey hair, that is it causes the follicles to regenerate and regrow real hair color.
~Allowing oneself to worry is a real sleep killer. If you can meditate or pray before falling asleep that will really be helpful.

I really hope this entry will bring blessed sleep to those who need it, I feel your pain~Nita Knapp.

other things I take are:coconut oil

is great for cooking and for continued weight loss. I really notice the difference in my weight control when I'm out of it for a while.
AND:
FLAX SEED OIL for my colon, but of course FLAX SEED OIL is also a great source of omega-3 essential fatty acids for THE BRAIN WHICH IS MOSTLY FAT, DID YOU KNOW THAT? AND YOUR HEART IS MOSTLY WATER!
And one each of the four essential minerals each day:
~SELENIUMhelps immune system,fights infection and aids circulation
~MAGNESIUMhelps to relax you, aids stress and muscle relaxing
~CHROMIUMimproves insulin sensitivity, and helps lower blood sugar.
~ZINC

I wish all of you the robust, vigorous health I'm getting closer to each day.

~~~
The other day a young person asked me how I felt about being old. I was taken aback, for I do not think of myself as old. Upon seeing my reaction, she was immediately embarrassed, but I explained that it was an interesting question, and I would ponder it, and let her know.
Old Age, I decided, is a gift.
I am now, probably for the first time in my life, the person I have always wanted to be. Oh, not my body! I sometime despair over my body, the wrinkles, the baggy eyes, and the sagging butt. And often I am taken aback by that old person that lives in my mirror (who looks like my mother!), but I don't agonize over those things for long.
I would never trade my amazing friends, my wonderful life, my loving family for less gray hair or a flatter belly. As I've aged, I've become more kind to myself, and less critical of myself. I've become my own friend. I don't chide myself for eating that extra cookie, or for not making my bed, or for buying that silly cement gecko that I didn't need, but looks so avante garde on my patio. I am entitled to a treat, to be messy, to be extravagant.
I have seen too many dear friends leave this world too soon; before they understood the great freedom that comes with aging.
Whose business is it if I choose to read or play on the computer until 4 AM and sleep until noon?
I will dance with myself to those wonderful tunes of the 60&70's, and if I, at the same time, wish to weep over a lost love ... I will.
I will walk the beach in a swim suit that is stretched over a bulging body, and will dive into the waves with abandon if I choose to, despite the pitying glances from the jet set.
They, too, will get old.
I know I am sometimes forgetful. But there again, some of life is just as well forgotten. And I eventually remember the important things.
Sure, over the years my heart has been broken. How can your heart not break when you lose a loved one, or when a child suffers, or even when somebody's beloved pet gets hit by a car? But broken hearts are what give us strength and understanding and compassion. A heart never broken is pristine and sterile and will never know the joy of being imperfect.
I am so blessed to have lived long enough to have my hair turning gray, and to have my youthful laughs be forever etched into deep grooves on my face. So many have never laughed, and so many have died before their hair could turn silver.
As you get older, it is easier to be positive. You care less about what other people think. I don't question myself anymore. I've even earned the right to be wrong.
So, to answer your question, I like being old. It has set me free. I like the person I have become. I am not going to live forever, but while I am still here, I will not waste time lamenting what could have been, or worrying about what will be. And I shall eat dessert every single day. (If I feel like it)
DADDY, HOW WAS I BORN???
A little boy goes to his father and asks "Daddy, how was I born?"
The father answers: "Well son, I guess one day you will need to find out anyway! Your Mom and I first got together in a chat room on Yahoo. Then I set up a date via e-mail with your Mom and we met at a cyber-cafe. We sneaked into a secluded room, where your mother agreed to a download from my hard drive. As soon as I was ready to upload, we discovered that neither one of us had used a firewall, and since it was too late to hit the delete button, nine months later a little Pop-Up appeared that said: 'You got Male!'"
A new student had joined the class and the teacher asked him if he knew his numbers.
"Yes," he said. "I do. My father taught me."
"Good. What comes after three."
"Four," answered the boy.
"What comes after six?"
"Seven."
"Very good," said the teacher. "Your dad did a good job. What comes after ten?"
"A jack," was the response.
HURRY-UP DISEASE, McLIFE UNDER PRESSURE
hurry, Hurry, I can't wait
and now, OH NO! I'm running late,
can't even stop to think things through,
AND SCARED TO SLOW, OH WHAT TO DO?
It results in road rage, violent reactions to small annoyances, wild errors of judgement, and other rudenesses. It's also very unhealthy.
One day as I was working at a snail's pace job, I decided to get lunch and do my banking at the same time. I rushed over to the bank and was not first in line for the ATM, I finally got the envelope, filled it out adding my [at least signed] check and at the last second [hurried, and self-harried] I tucked in a hundred dollar bill I was given to help me out, and ...forgot to add it to my totals or the deposit slip!
Oh I had the deposit receipt, FOR THE WRONG AMOUNT. I gobbled some fried fast-food lunch and rushed back to a job where no one minded if I'd been late a bit or not. Later that night I realized what I'd done. The next day I called and found out my check [only] had been credited to my account. I later called and got the whole situation fixed, but with all that hurrying, stress had broken out on me like pimples before prom night, my stomach hurt and I was so sick.
I was terribly afflicted with hurry-up, but that day I had to start s-l-o-w-i-n-g d-o-w-n. I had to or I'd make another expensive mistake. And the next time I might not be able to fix it.
I learned to stop when stuff got to be too much and take huge breaths holding them and letting it out slowly, to stop and think, to rest and just be...
Oh I forget from time to time, because I thrive on multi-tasking, I hate being still, being quiet, doing only one thing at a time, but I have to be slow. and it's an effort.
There is another story of a lady, Dorothy, who had a terrible infection inside her hands, they itched, as she said, "Way down in her bone marrow." she scratched until her hands were raw, she couldn't wash dishes or bathe without gloves on her hands, She took medication after medication, and the relief was transitory. Then she finally learned her infection was fungal in nature that fed on the tissues beneath the skin. Armed with this knowledge she knew suddenly what she needed to do. she quit feeding the fungus. She fasted for three days at a time to cut off the food supply. She knew even though she wasn't getting much relief from the itching that she was on the right path.
(1)
The lesson, of course, is clear. We, too, must persevere in the ways of health. At any time, Dorothy might have chosen the ways of drugging to relieve the immediate pain. Like so many others, she too could have soothed away the pain and the discomfort with products of the chemist's art, those "instant relief" pills and potions. It would have been so easy, so quick; but Dorothy had learned that drugs only appear to give health, that they present only a false facade.
When we are very young, our bodies are filled to overflowing with vital energy, the return to health may occur with amazing speed; but when we are older, the return may be elusive and taunt us with its tantalizing slowness, as was true in Dorothy's case. But, regardless of our age and our condition, we must remain steadfast in our goal to attain superior health. We must persevere in the ways of health. We must not be victims of the "hurry-up" disease!
I can' wait at the stop sign, I tap my foot at the slowness of my computer even with DSL, I whisper hurry hurry hurry at the snail pace of the rest of the world. It's called Time urgency impatience, and it seems the whole world has it.
(2)
"Time urgency impatience is what physicians call this chronic sense of pressure, and it’s become an epidemic among multitasking Americans. We log more hours at work than citizens of any other industrialized nation, and 40 percent of us drink three or more caffeinated beverages a day just to keep up the pace. That helps explain why more than half our adult population experience significant stress regularly and get less than the eight hours of sleep needed for good health and optimum performance.
“We have a deeply neurotic and dysfunctional relationship with time,” says Carl Honore, author of In Praise of Slowness: How a Worldwide Movement Is Challenging the Cult of Speed. “Benjamin Franklin said ‘time is money,’ and we don’t want it wasted or stolen. We put quantity ahead of quality and internalize an inner psychology of speed that values saving time and maximizing efficiency.”
It’s our health that pays the price. Time urgency impatience has been associated with a nearly twofold increase in hypertension, and it’s one of the traits that make Type A’s twice as likely as mellower Type B’s to develop heart disease. According to a report in the Journal of the American Medical Association, about 42 percent of young adults suffer from potentially risky levels of TUI, with high levels more common among women and Caucasians. “My guess is that TUI is on the rise,” says study author Lijing L. Yan, Ph.D., M.P.H."
Here are some slow-down strategies that will put time back on your side:
(3)
"TRYING TO DECELERATE in a hit-the-gas world isn’t easy...
1. Set priorities. Make a conscious decision about what you consider important, and let your schedule (and your attitude) reflect your intentions. For example, if relationships and health are high on your list, turn off the TV to free up time for taking walks with friends.
2. Do one thing at a time. When you multi task, it becomes impossible to concentrate, feel deeply, or think clearly. “Doing two or more things at the same time splits our consciousness in two or more ways,” observes meditation teacher Eknath Easwaran.
3. Wake up right. “Set your alarm clock early, but don’t get up when it rings,” suggests Paul Pearsall, Ph.D., author of The Last Self-Help Book You’ll Ever Need: Repress Your Anger, Think Negatively, Be a Good Blamer, & Throttle Your Inner Child. “Lie there a few minutes and practice the savoring response: Think about who and what is worth getting up for and the privilege of being awake in such a rushed yet wonderful world.”
4. Take off your watch. “People hurry up when they see a clock, which is why stores don’t have clocks–they want us to linger,” says Honore, who experiences less anxiety since he unstrapped his own watch. Because there are clocks everywhere–in cars and on cellphones and computers–he’s still punctual, but no longer feels like a slave to time. Test this yourself by going “watch-free” on evenings and weekends.
5. Listen to relaxing music. “Your body synchronizes to the rhythms around you,” says psychologist Sharon Heller, Ph.D., author of Too Loud, Too Bright, Too Fast, Too Tight. Look for music that’s paced to a relaxed heartbeat, about 60 beats per minute.
6. Resist road rage, “See every traffic jam as a meditation assignment,” Pearsall advises. There are few better opportunities to practice positive thinking and forgiveness or perform your deep-breathing exercises.
7. Find your center. Techniques such as meditation and yoga allow you to access patience. “Practices that bring you into stillness and quiet turn off the stress response,” says Peg Bairn, N.P., director of training at the Mind-Body Medical Institute, and an associate in medicine at Harvard Medical School. “They help you recharge your batteries and come back into alignment with who you really are.”
Along with TUI comes self-judgement that can only result in depression or worse. Give yourself a break, let yourself fail, and be gentle with it, Why? Failure isn't the end of the world, it's the beginning. Now you know at least one thing that doesn't work, you can begin to strategize into finding the right thing to do. I used to rush to fix my mistakes, they were something to quickly bury and forget, but now I must see that they are a good thing, a cherished step towards perfection. so what if other's find out, they don't know your process, they only look for results and push their own insecurities off on you to cover their mistakes. We are not responsible for someone Else's mental health we can only serve by example.
My slow recovery has been aided in huge ways by CellPower™ cellpower~natural cures,natural alternative medicine,body rescue alkalizing,most alkalizing,alkalizing drops,body ph health<br />natural healing,cell health,oxygenate,cellpower,detoxify. But in truth it has really accelerated my recovery, I've never felt this good, this happy due in large part to the CellPower™ and the dieting. I'm in this race to win, not instantly, but soon. I look and feel so much younger than I have in many many years. I have a ways to go, I'm not completely on top, but like Dorothy above, I know I'm on the right track towards eliminating diabetes, getting well, losing weight, looking younger, and feeling robust, vigorous health even into my old age. I have no intention of being a drooling, silent wheelchair sitter I see at the nursing home.
FLAX SEED OIL for my colon, but of course FLAX SEED OIL is also a great source of omega-3 essential fatty acids.
The biggest changes for the better hit me after I started taking CellPower™ cellpower~natural cures,natural alternative medicine,body rescue alkalizing,most alkalizing,alkalizing drops,body ph health<br />natural healing,cell health,oxygenate,cellpower,detoxify with it's cellular oxygenating power, the pH adjustment and bacterial/viral/fungal control has really CHANGED MY LIFE! In fact the fungus Dorothy was battling is helped by cellpower. In fact it can be used full-strength under the toe nails to alleviate the under-nail infections.
The coconut oil
is also great for cooking and losing weight.
I'm not going for controlling Diabetes, I'm going for reversal and having it GONE!
A woman named Shirley was from Beverly Hills. One day, she had a heart attack and was taken to Cedars Sinai hospital. While on the operating table, she had a near-death experience. She saw God and asked, "Is this it?" God said, "No, you have another 30 to 40 years to live." Upon her recovery, she decided to stay in the hospital and have collagen shots, cheek implants, a face lift, liposuction and breast augmentation. She even had someone dye her hair. She figured since she had another 30 to 40 years, she might as well make the most of it. She walked out of Cedars Sinai lobby after the last operation and was killed by an ambulance speeding up to the hospital. She arrived in front of God and said, "I thought you said I had another 30 to 40 years?" God replied, "Shirley! I didn't recognize you!"
A pirate was talking to a "land-lubber" in a bar. The land-lubber noticed that, like any self-respecting pirate, this guy had a peg leg, a hook in place of one of his hands and a patch over one eye. The land-lubber just had to find out how the pirate got in such bad shape. He asked the pirate,
"How did you loose your leg?" The pirate responded,
"I lost me leg in a battle off the coast of Jamaica!" His new acquaintance was still curious so he asked,
"What about you hand. Did you loose it at the same time?"
"No," answered the pirate. "I lost it to the sharks off the Florida Keys." Finally, the land-lubber asked,
"I notice you also have an eye patch. How did you loose your eye? The pirate answered,
"I was sleeping on a beach when a seagull flew over and pooped right in me eye." The land-lubber asked,
"How could a little seagull poop make you loose your eye?" The pirate snapped,
"It was the day after I got me hook!"
VISITING THE DOCTOR, NERVE PAIN
Hey! I had my check up yesterday I got to keep my blood test results, I'm so getting better. While I'm not perfect yet my levels are getting there, my lungs are clear and the high blood pressure? Gone, it's normal now. YAY! My A1C is lower, my glucose is lower, my cholesterol is lower, I'm happy and getting well. When the doc asked me how I was [why do they do that? I don't go there because I'm healthy for gooness sake]I was able to smile broadly and sure her I felt great! I'm known among the people I see regularly as a Sunny, happy person.... This from someone who use to be sick all the time, depressed so bad I could hardly stop crying, for decades. I have to credit CellPower™ cellpower~natural cures,natural alternative medicine,body rescue alkalizing,most alkalizing,alkalizing drops,body ph health<br />natural healing,cell health,oxygenate,cellpower,detoxify more than anything else. sure dieting and exercising gave me a good start but my vigorous healthy, more energetic, happier self started with the CellPower™.
I also continue to take Essential fatty acids,FLAX SEED OIL
coconut oil
to help lose weight.
In addition I also take
~4 essential minerals for diabetics
~SELENIUMhelps immune system,fights infection and aids circulation
~MAGNESIUMhelps to relax you, aids stress and muscle relaxing
~CHROMIUMimproves insulin sensitivity, and helps lower blood sugar.
~ZINC especially to help you heal.
and Conjugated Linoleic Acid* to counteract the effects of alloxan I might get by accident, I don't eat bread much less white flour but you never know.
see:alloxan causes diabetes
I am experiencing nerve pain even with my diabetes under strict control. Of course the medicos want you to take medications for it,
(1)
"Anti-seizure drugs often are used to help control the type of pain caused by damaged nerves.
Anti-seizure (anticonvulsant) medications were developed primarily to reduce or control epileptic seizures. But they can also help control the burning, stabbing or shooting pain sometimes caused by nerve damage. These drugs seem to work by slowing or blocking pain signals from damaged nerves.
Why does it hurt?
Nerves can be damaged by many things, including injury, surgery, disease or exposure to toxins. For example, some people with diabetes develop numbness and pain (peripheral neuropathy) in their hands and feet. People who have shingles often continue to have pain (postherpetic neuralgia) after the shingles have cleared up.
This pain occurs because the damaged nerves are firing inappropriately and sending pain signals even though no tissue has been harmed. This type of pain can be debilitating and is often difficult to control."
Personally,I've had these pains for much longer than I've had diabetes.
(2)
"~Controlling your blood sugar levels can help prevent worsening nerve pain and improve your overall health at the same time.
~Medications can help relieve nerve pain, make you more comfortable, and improve your quality of life.
"We know that better glucose control is the single most important factor" in preventing neuropathy, slowing its progress once you have it, and relieving many symptoms, says Christopher Gibbons, MD, director of the Neuropathy Clinic at the Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston and instructor of neurology at Harvard Medical School.
If you have diabetes and peripheral neuropathy, talk to your doctor about ways to better control your blood sugar. You may need to take insulin for better control, says Gibbons.
Once you are doing all that you can to keep blood sugar levels under control - including diet, meal planning, exercise, and medication - you should assess with your doctor which pain medication is best to relieve your remaining symptoms."
Since I refuse to take drugs what to do, what to do? The diabetic socks I have are too long, [I have very short toes, so if the socks fit they are too long]and they curl under my toes and HURT!
I find this really helps Get more info on RealHeal to relieve pain and promote faster healing after surgery or injury
