THE KEYS TO GOOD DIGESTIVE HEALTH

I guess they are all pretty simple things really, but it took a newsletter I get from a Dr. Julian Whittaker each day to make it clear to me that it is just that easy. Essentially there are three keys...

<1> Key number 1~Healthy bacteria in the form of probiotics
Ongoing research has revealed a number of possible applications for probiotics. Acidophilus works to break down food in the small intestine, and leads to the production of lactic acid, hydrogen peroxide, as well as other products that help suppress detrimental organisms. Acidophilus also helps produce lactase, an enzyme that breaks down milk sugar (lactase) into simple sugars. This may aid individuals with lactose intolerance. This helpful bacterium is also important in production of vitamin K. There is strong research to show that L. Acidophilus may be helpful in dealing with bacterial vaginosis. Other uses include the possible reduction or prevention of some diarrheas and alleviating symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome and, possibly, inflammatory bowel diseases (such as Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis). Bifidobacterium provides similar functionality in the colon.
Everyone needs these helpful bacteria. Acidophilus helps synthesize important vitamins, nutrients and enzymes

Some of us have been overwhelmed by another colon flora-Candida Albacans which causes a disease called candidiasis. We have this problem due to poor eating habits and antibiotics killing off the balancing probiotics.

When I say poor eating habits, it's not just fast food and microwaved TV dinners, It's all the pasteurizing and [allowed] chemicals in our foods, it's growing our foods in poor soils from bad fertilizing and improper husbanding practices, it's over-ripe foods brought to you from half-way round the world, and canned and other processed foods that just don't have the proper nutrients, It's over-cooked foods devoid of enzymes, and cooking methods [like the microwave] that further exacerbate the problems. The result is Candidiasis.
(1)
Moderate amounts of candida (and other yeast) live in every one of us without causing any harm, but when given free rein to grow unchecked, e.g. by wiping out the surrounding bacteria with broad-spectrum antibiotics, candida can change into its fungal form and spore through the intestinal wall into the rest of the body. Once through, it rampages around the body producing a multitude of symptoms.
<>Group 1: The damage to the intestinal wall allows undesirable toxins to permeate into the bloodstream. This condition called ‘leaky gut syndrome’ often leads to:
food allergies and intolerances.. migraines.. foggy brain.. muscle aches..
<>Group 2: Once through to the rest of the body, candida has the ability to disrupt the endocrine system causing symptoms such as: thrush cystitis PMS menstrual irregularities joint pains asthma hayfever sinusitis fungal infections of the nails/skin e.g. athlete’s foot weight gain or weight loss ear infections
chronic tiredness allergies sensitivity to perfume, tobacco smoke and petrol
<>Group 3: Symptoms in the intestines include: bloatedness flatulence diarrhoea and/or constipation itchy anus

Of course Diabetes contributes to candidiasis also and all these symptoms usually accompany all of the other problems diabetes has.

Personally I use Candidate
, in conjunction with probiotics.

<2> Key number 2~enzymes.
The body uses three main kinds of enzymes in the digestive process. Amylase enzymes break down starches or carbohydrates and are found naturally in the mouth saliva and the pancreatic and intestinal fluids. Protease enzymes are used to break down proteins and are found in the pancreatic and intestinal fluids. Lipase aids in fat digestion. Ultra Veggie Enzymes also includes several other important enzymes to aid in digestion. Cellulase is included for fiber breakdown, lactase to aid in digesting dairy products, and invertase, which works on breaking down sucrose.

Two other helpful enzymes included in this formula are bromelain and papain. Bromelain comes from pineapple and papain from papaya. Bromelain assists in protein digestion. Papain is particularly helpful in breaking down meat fibers and is included in some commercially available powdered meat tenderizers. Both are often used to relieve indigestion.

We way overcook our foods and even a little cooking will kill off the enzymes in our diets, We get virtually none. What with pasteurized everything and all veggies cooked we get none, We need 1/3 of our daily foods to be raw. Nuff said.
Please see what enzymes do for you

<3> Key Number 3fiberSoluble fibers, apple pectins and flax meal, psyllium helps the colon to be cleaned and healthy.
(2)
The main job of the colon is to complete the digestion process. This occurs by removing excess water from food wastes entering from the small intestine. When wastes pass through the intestines too quickly, not enough water is absorbed. Watery stools and diarrhea are the result. In contrast, if the passage of waste is too slow, too much water is absorbed. This results in hard stools and constipation, which often leads to straining. These simple problems occasionally lead to more serious disorders.

The Importance of Dietary Fiber
Fiber (also called roughage or bulk) promotes the wavelike contractions that keep food moving through the intestine. Also, high-fiber foods expand the inside walls of the colon. This eases the passage of waste. Fibrous substances pass through the intestine undigested. They also absorb many times their weight in water, resulting in softer, bulkier stools.
Studies show that rural Africans, who eat diets high in fiber, eliminate food waste in one-third the time it takes people from urban westernized cultures. Their stools are larger and softer. Because of the greater bulk and speed of foods through the digestive tract, it is believed that harmful substances are also swept out before they can cause problems. In fact, these rural people have fewer of the digestive tract diseases that plague Western man. It is thought that this may be related to the nature of their diet.

You've heard that death begins in the colon? Well the poisons in the fecal matter do their work to kill us off; the quicker it leaves us the better the outcome for all of us.

The Three keys will really aid one to maintain a healthy bowel.

I also use:coconut oil

is great for cooking and for continued weight loss. I really notice the difference in my weight control when I'm out of it for a while.
AND:
FLAX SEED OIL for my colon, but of course FLAX SEED OIL is also a great source of omega-3 essential fatty acids.

The Concept of Marriage

The child was a typical four-year-old girl — cute, inquisitive, bright as a new penny. When she expressed difficulty in grasping the concept of marriage, her father decided to pull out his wedding photo album, thinking visual images would help. One page after another, he pointed out the bride arriving at the church, the entrance, the wedding ceremony, the recessional, the reception, etc.

"Now do you understand?" he asked.

"I think so" she said, "is that when mommy came to work for us?"

The Law of Revolutionary Ideas

Every revolutionary idea, in Science, Politics, Art or Whatever, evokes three stages of reaction. They may be summed up by the three phrases:

1. “It is completely impossible; don’t waste my time.”

2. “It is possible, but it's not worth doing.”

3. “I said it was a good idea all along.”

After she woke up, a woman told her husband, "I just dreamed that you gave me a pearl necklace. What do you think it means?"

"You'll know tonight," he said.

That evening, the man came home with a small package and gave it to his wife. Delighted, she opened it . . . and found a book entitled "The Meaning of Dreams."
