MSG and type 2 diabetes
Your article “Type 2 diabetes appearing in youths” (SN: 7/10/99, p. 31) is of special interest
to me. I saw no type 2 diabetes in young people when I started medical practice in the early
’60s. By the time I had retired in 1995, such patients were not uncommon in my practice. I
believe monosodium glutamate (MSG) is the cause. MSG is an excitotoxin that works by overstimulating
its nerve target. When MSG is fed to baby rats for the first 9 days of their lives and
then discontinued, the MSG destroys the arcuate nucleus of the pituitary gland. For the rest of
the life of the rat, it will be obese, hypothyroid, and lethargic when compared with controls not
given MSG. Remember, MSG was released on the market in 1948. Just read your food labels.

This was written by a Doctor for a medical Journal but is not readily available to the public, Why?

Way too many food manufacturers are making money off of this stuff, who cares if it directly impacts the health of millions of people. They seek the thrill of great tastes and this is the result.

Why doesn't the FDA warn us? Why indeed.

...Scientists were creating obese mice and rats to use in diet or diabetes test studies.

No strain of rat or mice is naturally obese, so the scientists have to create them. They make these morbidly obese creatures by injecting them with a chemical when they are first born. The MSG triples the amount of insulin the pancreas creates, causing rats (and humans?) to become obese They even have a title for the race of fat rodents they create: "MSG-Treated Rats"


Did you see that? No strain of mice is naturally obese but they make them fat by using MSG.

My strongest advice is to go through your cupboards and yes, your spice drawer and throw away everything with any MSG in it look for anything with the following names because MSG hides under other aliases:

Malt Flavoring
Broth Flavoring
Natural Beef or Chicken Flavoring
Spices


I found it in my favorite low salt seasoning: Lemon Pepper, sigh, I guess I'll just have to just use my own seasoning instead: Katy's essence another advantage of summer.

The three best things you can do for yourself are:
-Eat lots of fresh, uncooked vegetables and fruits for all their enzymatic goodness on the allkalizing foods list
-do NOT eat anything with MSG in it and

PARAFFIN/FRAGRANCES IN OUR AIR

Aroma therapy, isn't that a great way to get healthy? NOT

Paraffin wax... is made from petroleum and produces carcinogens and soot when burned. In fact, one air quality researcher stated that the soot from a paraffin candle contains many of the same toxins produced by burning diesel fuel. Even many of the seemingly healthy, aromatherapy candles sold today can do more harm than good."


In the midst of the comfort we get from the heat, the dancing flame and pleasant aroma few realize

"...that most candles fill the room with something else as well…toxic, carcinogenic smoke and soot. In fact, burning paraffin candles releases many of the same toxins as diesel fuel.

This is not surprising when one considers the process of making paraffin wax. It begins at the bottom of the oil barrel, the worst 5% or so rejected by the gasoline industry. This by-product of crude oil refinement is then mixed with another less-than-enticing substance; industrial strength bleach. This is what gives wax its familiar pleasant whiteness. Now add stearic acid and a few other minor ingredients, and you have the very wax burning in your homes.

Most who become aware of the harmful toxins released by paraffin do not want to expose their families to it anymore, but know little or nothing about alternative waxes. If they know anything at all about other waxes, it is probably that most, such as beeswax, are quite expensive by comparison."


These toxins we bring into our environment all on our own; but all fragrances contain toxins that pollutes our precious atmosphere. This same life-sustaining air we must all breathe is being polluted everyday by common products we all use.

ETHANOL~found in; perfume, hairspray, shampoo, fabric softener, dishwashing liquid and detergent, laundry detergent, shaving cream, soap, vaseline lotion, air fresheners, nail color and remover, paint and varnish remover, it is On EPA Hazardous Waste list, causes:fatigue, irritating to eyes and upper respiratory tract even in low concentrations,Inhalation of ethanol vapors can have effects similar to those characteristic of ingestion[so wearing it is like drinking it]: drowsiness, impaired vision, ataxia, stupor. Supresses the central nervous system.

LIMONENE~found in;perfume, cologne, disinfectant spray, bar soap, shaving cream, deodorants, nail color and remover, fabric softener, dishwashing liquid, air fresheners, after shave, bleach, paint and varnish remover,It is Carcinogenic. Prevent its contact with skin or eyes because it is an irritant and sensitizer. Always wash thoroughly after using this material and before eating, drinking, ...applying cosmetics. Do not inhale limonene vapor. Hey, a fragrance you are not supposed to inhale.

95% of chemicals used in fragrances are synthetic compounds derived from petroleum. They include benzene derivatives, aldehydes and many other known toxics and sensitizers - capable of causing cancer, birth defects, central nervous system disorders and allergic reactions. Neurotoxins: At Home and the Workplace, Report by the Committee on Science & Technology, U.S. House of Representatives, Sept. 16, 1986. (Report 99-827)

Central Nervous System disorders (brain and spine) include Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson's Disease, Alzheimer's Disease, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.

Chloroform was found in tests of fabric softeners: EPA's 1991 study.

A room containing an air freshener had high levels of p-dichlorobenzene (a carcinogen) and ethanol: EPA's 1991 study.

An FDA analysis (1968-1972) of 138 compounds used in cosmetics that most frequently involved adverse reactions, identified five chemicals (alpha-terpineol, benzyl acetate, benzyl alcohol, limonene and linalool) that are among the 20 most commonly used in the 31 fragrance products tested by the EPA in 1991!

Thirty-three million Americans suffer from sinusitis (inflammation or infection of sinus passages).

Twelve million Americans have asthma. Asthma and asthma deaths have increased over 30% in the past 10 years.

Headaches cost $50 billion in lost productivity and medical expenses and 157 million lost work days in 1991. "Focus on Fragrance and Health," by Louise Kosta, The Human Ecologist, Fall 1992.


Is anyone out there? Does anyone read this stuff? It's out there and we wonder where SIDS comes from while filling our homes with poisons...A simple search brings this stuff up, I'm not some arcane searcher finding hidden things... this is so obvious anyway, I can't believe people can do this to themselves. I've had help though; I lost my sense of smell sometime back and what has come back has not been anything like what it was, All perfumes have a noxious chemical smell for me now, all things with fragrance in them smell exactly the same, hairspray, shampoo, laundry soap, air fresheners, dish soaps, all of it, except ones that are not harmful. Oh by the way, I have White Diamonds, Red, and Ester Lauder's Beautiful and White Linen, all smell like chemicals and they are all the real deal, no knockoffs.

It's time to make a choice, Choose more natural alternatives without the harsh and dangerous chemicals, eat better, more natural foods, cook them yourselves, breathe in clean air, and get some CellPower™ to help you heal up from the shocks we get on our bodies from all the unnatural things we are subjected to.

MORE THINGS TO AVOID

Olestra

A fake fat recently approved by the FDA, over the objections of dozens of leading physicians.

The additive may be fat-free but it has a fatal side-effect: it attaches to valuable nutrients and flushes them out of the body. Some of these nutrients -- called arytenoids -- appear to protect us from such diseases as lung cancer, prostate cancer, heart disease, and macular degeneration. The Harvard School of Public Health states "the long-term consumption of olestra snack foods might therefore result in several thousand unnecessary deaths each year from lung and, prostate cancers and heart disease, and hundreds of additional cases of blindness in the elderly due to macular degeneration. Besides contributing to disease, olestra causes diarrhea and other serious gastrointestinal problems, even at low doses."

FDA certified olestra despite the fact that there are safe low-fat snacks already on the market. There is no evidence to show that olestra will have any significant effect on reducing obesity in America.

Despite being approved as safe by the FDA, all snacks containing olestra must carry a warning label (similar to one found on cigarettes) that states:

This Product Contains Olestra. Olestra may cause abdominal cramping and loose stools. Olestra inhibits the absorption of some vitamins and other nutrients. Vitamins A, D, E, and K have been added.

Olestra also raced through subjects so quickly in some test cases, according to Procter and Gamble's data, that it resulted in "anal leakage," diarrhea and underwear stains. It also takes hostages: Olestra removes significant amounts of fat-soluble vitamins and arytenoids (nutrients that may reduce the chances of cancer and heart disease) from the digestive tract

One of the vitamins that olestra eliminates in our digestive system is Vitamin A, or arytenoids

Arytenoids are natural fat-soluble pigments found in certain plants. Arytenoids provide the bright red, orange, or yellow coloration of many vegetables, serve as antioxidants, and can be a source for vitamin A activity. There are more than 600 known natural arytenoids, all of them synthesized only in plants. Arytenoids may be classified as hydrocarbon carotenes or
xanthophylls, which are oxygenated derivatives of carotenes. Representative examples of carotenes include β-carotene, alpha-carotene, and lycopene. Examples of xanthophylls include lutein, astaxanthin, canthaxanthin, zeaxanthin, and capsorubin. Lycopene, lutein, zeaxanthin, phytoene, phytofluene and beta-carotene belong to this family. Arytenoids are antioxidants. They play an important role in health maintenance by helping to reduce the impact and minimize the oxidative damage caused by surplus free radicals...

Arytenoids are very important for health. The health benefits of arytenoids in the human diet are becoming increasingly apparent. There've been studies suggest that some arytenoids can offer protection against some cancers, macular eye disease and
Cardiovascular problems. A higher dietary intake of arytenoids offers protection against developing certain cancers (e.g., lung, skin, uterine, cervix, gastrointestinal tract), macular degeneration, cataracts, and other health conditions linked to oxidative or free radical damage. In addition to being antioxidants, arytenoids also help to rejuvenate the body by promoting the growth of healthy cells and inhibiting the growth of unhealthy ones.


Vitamin A deficiency will result in poor reproductive health and bone health, a suppressed immune system, poor vision, decreased liver function, brittle nails, skin health [gives the skin a gooseflesh appearance] Vitamin A adds lubrication to mucus membranes. Two diseases caused by the deficiency of vitamin A are Night Blindness and Xerophthalmia (drying up of the eyes and cornea). So tell me, is olestra worth it?

Also good to avoid; are food colorings that exacerbate problems in children with
Tendancies toward ADD or ADHD, AND IT CAUSES CANCER!

Nitrite and Nitrate

Sodium nitrate, Potassium nitrate, and Potassium nitrite are traditionally as preservatives in Deli meats and other processed meats to to prevent botulism, and to improve color and flavor.


Potassium Nitrite is toxic in large doses and had caused many deaths.

It has the ability to change hemoglobin to methemoglobin and this is what makes nitrite so dangerous. Hemoglobin is the component of red blood cells that carries oxygen to all the cells of the body. Methemoglobin is unable to carry oxygen; therefore the conversion of hemoglobin to methemoglobin drastically impairs the bloods’ ability to carry oxygen. The resulting condition is called methemoglobinemia. People suffering from this condition have difficulty breathing; experience skin discoloration (bluish tinge) and can even lose consciousness which, in turn, can cause death if the levels of methemoglobin rise higher. According to FAO/WHO, babies seem especially venerable to methemoglobin.


In other words it actually alters our blood chemistry and produces a lethal condition.

It was added to baby foods at one time, but now is probably only found in some imported baby foods.

Recent studies have found a link between high processed meat consumption and colon cancer, possibly due to preservatives such as sodium nitrite. My stepfather died of colon cancer and he was always a sausage enthusiast.

Nitrate used in 'cured' meats is often found in our water supply also:

Risk to Human Health: Nitrate is a potential human health threat especially to infants, causing the condition known as methemoglobinemia, also called "blue baby syndrome". Read about the impact of Nitrate in water used to make baby formula, on the infant. When Nitrate is taken in by eating food and drinking water, Nitrate is converted in the gut to nitrite, which then combines with hemoglobin to form methemoglobin, thus decreasing the ability of the blood to carry oxygen. Infants are more susceptible to nitrate toxicity than older children or adults. Fatalities are rare, but sub-acute methemoglobinemia can be asymptotic while affecting development, making the condition particularly insidious. Chronic consumption of high levels of nitrate may also cause other health problems, for example some cancers and teratogenic effects


This is all the research I have time for today, I will be doing more studies on maintaining health in the face of a dangerous world.

I find that since I've been taking CellPower™ I've started and am well down the road to recovery. TIPS, TRICKS AND MY PROGRESS

First I have a tip.

<>My grandmother [from my adoptive family] was always a beautiful woman and she outlived five husbands marrying her last one in her 70's when she was still beautiful, unlined, and vital. When I was a little girl she said one of her secrets was that she never washed her face with soap. I quit using any soap on my face at about 35 and folks have always said I look much younger than others my age, in fact all my life I've been told I look younger than I 'claim to be'. Hahahaha. I've never avoided the sun I always forget the sunscreen too, but I do avoid anything with alcohol in it [face creams often contain alcohol in some form], read the labels.

<>brush some dark eyeshadow on your brows for a much more natural line than you can possibly ever get with liner, and brush your lower lashes with that same stiff bristled brush loades with dark eye-shadow for a wide-eyed look that will take the eye away from any sags and bags you have, and never ever use make-up liquid or powder, under your eyes[ if you have any bags or wrinkles there; it will gather in the creases and give you a haggard look.

My progress:

I have been taking cellpower for a few months now, my blood glucose levels have stayed very low and even if I cheat on my diet. I test my pH every so often and while it's not completely 'normal' that is 7.25 all the time, it stays close to that. When it's 7.25 every morning for a week I'll know I've reached my goal.

As I said yesterday I've lost another 2 pounds, I woke up yesterday feeling so light and thin, I'm not either one, but you know how some days you wake up feeling like a watermelon on legs? I didn't feel bloated or thick, just felt great! I weighed myself and sure enough, 2 pounds were just gone, and I wasn't about to go lookin' around to find them either!

Trick: recipe....
I add gobs of cinnamon to my oatmeal each morning. I make a batch of oatmeal to last 3 days, save 2/3rds of it and reheat it in my convection oven.

3 C. water on to boil, add a sprinkle of sea salt
3 scoops of 1/8 cup each of oatbran
3 scoops of 1/2 C of oatmeal and whisk it smooth, turn heat off
when it's still kind of liquid I add
3 Tablespoons of cinnamon
1 large apple chopped into bite-sized chunks
mix all this together the oatmeal will thicken.

put on third into a bowl add 1 tsp of coconut oil and two large tablespoons of the best plain yogurt you can buy, and eat. The next two days take 1/2 of the leftovers and chop it up so it's not a mound, heat in the bowl in a convection oven at 425 for 20 minutes, add coconut oil, any fresh fruits I might have and yogurt, and eat!

Oatmeal may be acidic and full of carbs but I need the fiber and it's not so processed that it's not food. It works for me and my glucose levels are low and I'm losing weight. Because of the IBS I need to adjust the low carb diet to include a few carbs and sugars-Apples.

Apples by the way have recently been proven to be the health food your grandmother and great grandmothers always said they were. In addition to the pectin [fiber] in it:

This source also notes that one really should eat 1 apple per day to get these benefits, people generally eat one per week.

Many years ago a friend of mine called Joe worked in the coal mines. He would go to work early in the morning, go down the mine to the coal face and do his eight hour stint, then come back to the surface to get ready to come home. He followed this daily routine faithfully for years on end, down the mine in the morning and up at the end of his shift. Down then up, down then up. One day whilst he was at the coal face he swung his pick ax and the point went deep into a rock. He eventually managed to remove the pick ax from the rock, and as he did so he was engulfed in a deluge of water. He was absolutely drenched by the water, and his work mates remarked that he looked about 10 years younger since the water had covered him. They all tried to get soaked, and those that managed did indeed look 10 years younger. He, and those of his friends who had managed to get covered by the water, were thankful but they couldn't stop wondering why they had only been made to look 10 years younger. Why hadn't they been made to look 20 or 25 years younger than they really were?
It must be obvious that it was only a miner miracle.


I, too, once had a friend, Joe, who worked in the coal mines. Unfortunately, he was killed in a freak accident when some movers lost their grip on a grand piano they were transporting; the piano fell down the mine shaft and crushed Joe to death. STRESS/HEAT EFFECTS ON BLOOD GLUCOSE LEVELS

Stress, High Blood Pressure and Trauma are relieved for me by cell power


For our purposes stress is:(1)A mentally or emotionally disruptive or upsetting condition occurring in response to adverse external influences and capable of affecting physical health, usually characterized by increased heart rate, a rise in blood pressure, muscular tension, irritability, and depression.

Stress results when something causes your body to behave as if it were under attack. Sources of stress can be physical, like injury or illness. Or they can be mental, like problems in your marriage, job, health, or finances.
When stress occurs, the body prepares to take action. This preparation is called the fight-or-flight response. In the fight-or-flight response, levels of many hormones shoot up. Their net effect is to make a lot of stored energy - glucose and fat - available to cells. These cells are then primed to help the body get away from danger.
In people who have diabetes, the fight-or-flight response does not work well. Insulin is not always able to let the extra energy into the cells, so glucose piles up in the blood.
Many sources of stress are not short-term threats. For example, it can take many months to recover from surgery. Stress hormones that are designed to deal with short-term danger stay turned on for a long time. As a result, long-term stress can cause long-term high blood glucose levels.
Many long-term sources of stress are mental. Your mind sometimes reacts to a non-dangerous event as if it were a real threat. Like physical stress, mental stress can be short term - from taking a test to getting stuck in a traffic jam. It can also be long term - from working for a demanding boss to taking care of an aging parent. In mental stress, the body pumps out hormones to no avail. Neither fighting nor fleeing is any help when the "enemy" is your own mind.
In people with diabetes, stress can alter blood glucose levels. It does this in two ways. First, people under stress may not take good care of themselves. They may drink more alcohol or exercise less. They may forget, or not have time, to check their glucose levels or plan good meals. Second, stress hormones may also alter blood glucose levels directly.


So it's very important to plan a good routine both for checking the blood glucose levels and staying with a good diet and exercise plan. Many times Stress is caused by factors like life changes making keeping to previous plans difficult especially if there are increased demand from job, family or one's own priorities.

Starting and maintaining good habits in regards to meals and exercise is essential. In times of upheaval a good program will work as automatic response. When I travel I keep my supplies, everything I need in a small box I can carry in a tote bag. My supplement compartmental box with each of my four times per day vitamins, my cellpower, a jug of distilled water, needles and insulin all together to keep that part of my routine going. I work to keep my physical activity levels up even when I have to spend precious hours cooped up in our little car. I stress a lot during travel times because it's so boring and I like to stay busy, in fact I like to do at least three things at once, the best I can do in a car is read, period.

Heat also causes blood sugar to rise: First no one feels much like exercising when it's hot enough to fry an egg on your forehead. Then the rest of the routine stuff can be tossed out the window if one isn't careful. Heat, unrelieved is very stressful, see above for the effects of stress.

We are having a drought here in Michigan where I live. The heat is awful, fortunately we have enough air conditioning to keep our home inside cool, but I still have to work outside to get my exercise. and today I worked out on our sunporch making canvas tote bags so we won't have to use those horrible little plastic grocery bags. I made two bags, but the heat on the porch is awful. My hair sticks out like I stuck my hand in a toaster and my clothes are soaking wet. also I'm going thru' a time of muscle spasming from the stroke I had so my foot hurts from walking on spasming toes. My hands don't want to do what I want them to do, but I'm wa-a-a-ay too stubborn to wait for another day to get my bags done. In fact I usually push myself a bit harder in times like these. Still my blood glucose stays down in the 'normal' range. I believe it has to be the cell power
that is really tiding me over during hard and stressful times. We lost the house we wanted to buy and our landlord here is trying to force us to buy this house that needs the equivalent of the gross National debt of a small European country's worth of work done on it. And my gardens are all dying from the relentless heat, I water and water and water, but it does no good. I'm under some stress, yet I have this wonderful side-effect from getting well, I am nearly euphoric I'm so happy, I attribute it to cell power I tell people if I got any happier I'd be twins and have to pay twice the taxes.

For weight control, lowering Cholesterol, and balancing the Omega -3's and Omega-6 intake I'm still taking a tablespoon of coconut oil
